Chapter 5: Entrepreneurship
The weather was clear, and a light breeze gently blew.
'Gray Shark' sat in his wheelchair, being pushed by the caregiver out of his basement, slowly moving through the small park next to the apartment. He looked at the green grass on the ground and smelled the freshness of dew.
Auntie Nasa sat on a bench, her eyes following her son's figure, a smile of relief on her face, but her heart was full of sadness.
As a polio patient, 'Gray Shark's' growth was destined to be different from other children. His body was confined to a wheelchair, missing out on many of the joys that ordinary people take for granted.
Sensitive, introverted, and timid.
Since adolescence, he had almost completely cut off contact with the outside world, enclosing himself entirely in the small space of his basement.
'Gray Shark' commanded storms online, becoming a powerful figure in the virtual world, all thanks to his mother's support and encouragement.
In reality, he remained lonely and isolated.
Only in the late nights, when the streets were empty, would he, under his mother's urging, quietly take a short walk around the apartment complex and then hurriedly return to the basement.
Whenever he encountered strangers, he would stammer and couldn't even say a complete sentence.
Auntie Nasa had devoted most of her life to taking care of him. She was an uncomplaining mother, but age was making her increasingly helpless.
Today, Auntie Nasa was in an exceptionally good mood because 'Gray Shark' finally agreed to come out of the basement during the day and bask in the sunlight.
"Mom, I'm sorry." 'Gray Shark' was pushed back by the caregiver, he apologetically grabbed his mother's hand, "I used to only think about myself and never considered your feelings."
Auntie Nasa burst into tears and hugged her son tightly.
-----------------
To the caregivers in the neighborhood, this mother and son had always been referred to as 'weirdos' by the neighbors.
In her younger years, Auntie Nasa had been a radiant beauty, with many suitors chasing after her. Unfortunately, she chose a worthless man.
After the child was born, the man disappeared without a trace and never showed up again.
From that moment on, Auntie Nasa's life lost its luster, she became silent and seldom interacted with the neighbors.
When her son was diagnosed with polio, her situation worsened, falling into endless difficulties. Thank you for reading. This was brought to you by M|V|L*EMPYR.
According to the elderly in the neighborhood, Porter used to come out in his wheelchair before he turned ten, occasionally showing a few innocent smiles.
No one knew from which day he seemed to vanish from the world, never appearing in people's sight again.
Whenever someone asked, Auntie Nasa always responded with a bitter smile: "My son isn't dead, he just prefers staying in the basement."
As time went by, the neighbors forgot about the existence of this child.
Today, this mother and son, who had lived in the neighborhood for over thirty years, were finally moving.
Two moving trucks were parked outside the apartment, and the neighbors were shocked to find that the boy named Porter had stockpiled piles of electronic devices in the basement.
Professional routers, high-end servers, high-capacity storage devices, high-frequency radios, seven or eight large screen monitors, and hundreds of discarded hard drives were dumped into the trash bins.
These devices filled the entire basement, almost constructing a secret underground fortress. Cleaning them up required a whole truck and three or four professional workers.
After taking a round in the small park, 'Gray Shark' hurried back, closely watching every move of the movers.
Although most of his data and information were backed up on the cloud, he still worried about any mishap that might occur during the transportation of these precious devices.
The new home was chosen in the suburbs of Miami—once you leave the bustling city, there's plenty of open land in Florida.
'Gray Shark' was actually very intelligent, quick-witted, and following Zhou Qingfeng's 'advice,' he bought a sturdy villa with a large basement.
In the past, he lacked a sense of security and always worried about discrimination and setbacks. Once Zhou Qingfeng revealed his identity, it forced him to shed his burdens.
He was a decisive person, with excellent learning and decision-making abilities. He not only moved, but also contacted a driving school to learn how to drive, and even planned to play with guns.
Years of operating in the 'gray market' had allowed 'Gray Shark' to accumulate a considerable amount of money. Spending this money was astonishingly efficient.
Auntie Nasa knew her son could make money, but due to his past extreme rejection of outsiders, she had to personally care for him.
Now, things were better. Hiring people to do the work made everything easier.
"Porter, what kind of magic did your friend use? How could he change your mindset so much?" The old lady was very curious.
'Gray Shark' seriously asked: "Mom, what do you think are the odds of a person winning a fifteen billion dollar lottery prize?"
Auntie Nasa showed a surprised expression, "Fifteen billion dollars? I can't imagine."
"What if that person didn't just win the lottery, but snatched a fifteen billion dollar winning ticket from a chaotic battle, suffered no penalization, and safely kept the money?"
The old lady was even more confused.
"That guy came to the United States less than half a year ago, I had never seen him before. But during our first phone call, he somehow knew who I was and revealed many of my secrets.
I've lived on this street for over thirty years, and fewer than five people know about my existence. How could someone be so familiar with me?"
The old lady was totally baffled.
"I thought about it for a long time, made many speculations, and came to only one conclusion..."
'Gray Shark' said confidently: "That guy is from the future, and I... am definitely significant in the future."
