Chapter 39: Striking It Rich_2
The governor's suit was disheveled, his tie askew, and his leather shoes screeched against the ground.
The special operations team members didn't bother with formalities, they just rushed forward desperately, the governor's body being dragged along, his ankles occasionally hitting the floor.
The team captain remained relatively calm, leading the team in retreat while loudly issuing orders over the radio: "Get the bulletproof car to the back door immediately! We'll be there soon!
Leave two people here to intercept, make sure to stop that assassin from getting close!
Contact the Orlando police——no, contact the National Guard directly! I know they have a team nearby, request support immediately!"
The Orlando City Hall wasn't very large, and the hallway from the side door to the back door was only a few dozen meters.
On a normal day, this path would take at most half a minute to walk, but at this moment it felt endlessly long.
Every second seemed to stretch out, the air thick with tension, making even breathing feel heavier.
The special operations driver in charge of the pickup reacted quickly, almost simultaneous with the captain's order, driving the car from the lawn to the back door of the building.
As long as Governor Parker was safely inside the car, the special team's mission would be more than half completed.
As for that motorcycle-riding assassin——capturing or killing him wasn't the special team's primary mission.
Two special operations members protected the governor as they rushed to the car door, while also keeping their guns aimed backward, their eyes as sharp as hawks, scanning for any movement.
If the assassin dared to pursue, they wouldn't hesitate; their bullets were already chambered, just waiting for the trigger to be pulled.
However, just as Governor Parker was only a few steps away from the car door, a deafening crash sounded from the window at the back door of the building.
Glass shards flew in all directions like rain, reflecting harshly in the nighttime lights.
Brought to you by the folks at MV|LEMPYR.
Next, a silver flash shot through the broken window——it was the Harley motorcycle!
The assassin on the bike wore a gray trench coat, with stockings obscuring his face, yet when he locked eyes with the special operations captain, there was a chilling sharpness in his gaze.
The captain immediately aimed his rifle at the speeding motorcycle and pulled the trigger first; bullets whizzed out.
However, the motorcycle was too fast, the assassin leaned to the side, the bullet just grazing past his shoulder, leaving only streams of hot air in the wind.
In that brief moment, the special operations team managed to push Governor Parker into the car, and before the door could fully close, the driver floored the accelerator, the car shot forward like an arrow.
But the assassin didn't stop; his Harley did a sharp turn upon landing, tires screeching against the ground, then he was immediately chasing like a relentless ghost.
The two special operations members fired at the bike while it moved, but the assassin's speed and judgment were beyond their expectations.
The Harley dipped to the other side of the bulletproof car, using the vehicle to shield himself from the special operations team's shots.
As the car carrying the governor accelerated, Zhou Qingfeng leaned close to the bike's body, advancing together, in the blink of an eye they had sped ahead by tens of meters.
Through the semi-transparent bulletproof glass, Ellison Parker, who had taken refuge inside, looked out in sheer fright. He barely lifted his head and saw the menacing figure coldly watching him from outside.
"Who is this guy?" The governor panted heavily, finally regaining some semblance of his authority, shouting out his question.
"Whoever he is, he's bound to be thwarted." The special operations captain, beside the governor, took a deep breath.
That was too close; they were almost caught by that guy.
"Our windows and tires are bulletproof; we can hold out until backup arrives, and then we'll be the ones chasing him."
Before the captain could finish his sentence, the piercing sound of police sirens echoed from behind the bulletproof car, four or five Orlando police cars furiously chased after them.
If something happened to the governor within their jurisdiction, all city officials would be scrutinized, at the very least losing their jobs for 'failing to inspire confidence.'

In a flash, Zhou Qingfeng's gaze swept the rear view mirror, seeing the frenzied pursuit by the Orlando police.
The entire city's police force had been mobilized, the command center devising strategies, police cars rushing in from all directions like a tidal wave.
The helicopter blades roared incessantly in the skies, searchlights locking onto the ground below, like a giant hunting falcon leading the chase.
The sirens were deafening, red and blue lights flashing chaotically on the streets.
Through the loudspeakers of the police cars came the raspy shouts: "You up ahead, you're surrounded! Stop and surrender immediately!"
Zhou Qingfeng found the noise annoying, controlling the motorcycle with one hand, while the other swiftly drew a short-barreled shotgun from the storage compartment, aiming at the windshield of a pursuing police car, and pulled the trigger.
"Bang!" The shotgun blasted, the pellets raining down, smashing the windshield into pieces, cracks spreading out like a spiderweb.
Seeing the shotgun aimed at him, the police driver ducked hurriedly, jerking the steering wheel, causing the car to lose control and crash into a telephone pole by the roadside.
With an ear-splitting metallic crash, the police car emitted thick smoke and was completely immobilized.
The fall of one police car didn't halt the pursuit. The remaining police vehicles continued relentlessly, two cars driving side by side closing in.
The officer in the passenger seat, clearly desperate, rolled down the window, half his body hanging out, aiming his rifle at Zhou Qingfeng's bike, attempting to retaliate.
