Invasion of the United States

Chapter 2: Fearful Charm (Part 2)

-----------------

After the pandemic swept through, every department of the Federal Government faced a massive exodus of civil servants, and the "Ministry of Government Efficiency" was no exception.

This department was never a large organization to begin with, and coupled with low salaries and benefits, now only about a hundred people still remain at their posts.

After arranging the newly recruited personnel, the door to the minister's office was knocked on again.

Xiao Jinlang, wearing a carefully disguised face of an old white man, walked in with a serious expression.

The door closed with a "click," and he immediately pulled out several sophisticated electronic devices from his inner pocket, carefully scanning the room for electromagnetic signals.

After confirming there was no eavesdropping, he also activated a jammer, as if an invisible barrier had formed in the air.

"Is it necessary to be this cautious? This is my territory," Zhou Qingfeng leaned back in his large office chair, lazily.

"Speak English!" Old Xiao whispered harshly, sternly reproving, "We have to prepare for the worst, we can't afford any lapses."

The "worst scenario" involved a special cyanide-filled poison tooth hidden in Old Xiao's mouth.

Once bitten down on, it could end his life within seconds, ensuring he would never fall into enemy hands.

"Xiaozhou, your current position is extremely crucial, every link must be ensured flawless," Old Xiao's tone was grave and serious.

Zhou Qingfeng remained nonchalant, "And what can those 'White House' buffoons do to me?"

Without the filter of their political aura, those high-ranking politicians were nothing but a bunch of clowns to him.

Old Xiao, however, interrupted Zhou Qingfeng's arrogance unsparingly, "Those politicians may be worthless, but the people from the United States Department of Homeland Security are not. ContentsourcedfromMV4LEMPYRMyVirtualLibraryEmpire.

Those who are trying every means to eliminate 'Harden' are definitely not pushovers."

The "higher-ups" at home have fully recognized Zhou Qingfeng's importance and are racking their brains to ensure his safety.

Originally, the most prudent approach was for Zhou Qingfeng to do nothing, to lie in wait like a deeply buried pawn, refraining from rash actions and especially from transmitting any intelligence.

Lying low for ten years or even longer was considered an acceptable plan.

However... Zhou Qingfeng happened to be someone who "doesn't take the usual path," and more than one or two people knew his true identity.

Shanni and Professor Hart were definitely informed, "Gray Shark" and Kelly also clearly understood.

Even his Mexican subordinates vaguely sensed their young boss was making waves in Washington D.C.

The usual undercover approach obviously no longer suited Zhou Qingfeng. After much deliberation, the higher-ups at home ultimately took the risk of dispatching the experienced Old Xiao.

Not long ago, quite a few bureaucrats died mysteriously during the pandemic, with some even dying along with their entire families.

Old Xiao replaced one of those identities, infiltrating the "Ministry of Efficiency," nominally as Zhou Qingfeng's subordinate, but actually there to protect and assist him.

"However, your current position is quite tricky," Old Xiao sighed, speaking with concern:

"The Vice President who promoted you urgently hopes you can produce results quickly to stabilize his position, while hostile bureaucrats wish you would disappear immediately.

The current situation is like rowing against the current, not advancing means retreating!"

This was also a crucial reason why he was sent from home, to help Zhou Qingfeng quickly gain a foothold in Washington, "Xiaozhou, do you have any plans yourself?"

Zhou Qingfeng shrugged indifferently, "It's simple, pick a few of the most arrogant ones, kill the chicken to scare the monkey."

"I think the same way, we do need to establish authority," Old Xiao nodded in agreement, "An offensive defense, making hidden enemies wary to oppose you, saving a lot of unnecessary trouble.

I will select a few suitable targets from 'Dias's' dark file, you expose their crimes publicly to deter those potential opponents."

Zhou Qingfeng shook his head, "I don't want to follow entirely in the former 'Ministry of Efficiency' minister's footsteps, just relying on online exposure has limited effects."

Old Xiao asked in surprise, "Then how do you plan to proceed?"

"It's simple, the Vice President is eager for results and has authorized me to use any means," Zhou Qingfeng said coldly, "I plan to physically take out a few real troublemakers."

Old Xiao was even more shocked, "How do you mean 'take out'?"

"I mean physically eliminate them!" Zhou Qingfeng was straightforward, "Start with the biggest troublemaker.

Before my appointment, the Vice President subtly indicated he was in a terrible situation, unable to command any officials or departments.

Especially the military, they don't take him seriously at all, particularly the navy, which has its own ideas.

The military heads are trying to create friction in the Asia-Pacific region, provoking conflict to coerce Congress into increasing military spending.

Naval Chief of Staff Alvin even publicly called for a declaration that the President cannot govern, and the Vice President should step down immediately so a new presidential election can be held.

The Vice President, from a 'rural' background, has quite a temper. He said he doesn't care about any friction or conflict, and demands that Alvin be taken down at all costs!"

"Ah..." Old Xiao was left dumbfounded, a chill running from his spine to the top of his head— it's over, this kid has started using his brain, and... he thought of a 'brilliant' idea!

"Are you planning to assassinate a four-star US admiral?"

The last meeting at the White House was quite rushed, but 'Harden' left a profound impression on Admiral Alvin.
