Invasion of the United States

Chapter 12: Setting a Trap

When Hammer's "normal play" fell into Alzheimer's disease, Zhou Qingfeng and Lucy faced an extremely thorny problem.

No one knew who the old man contacted or what messages he sent when he was clear-headed. The old man himself couldn't remember.

What's worse, Hammer's phone was custom-made, and to prevent loss or being snatched and leaking classified information, the phone's calls and messages wouldn't be automatically saved.

All the records had to be manually selected and input into the "memo" to be retained.

Hammer usually relied on this "memo" to recall the things he did and the people he contacted. And now...

"Grandpa, you really can't remember anything? Not even the memo?" Lucy stared intently at her grandfather.

She had just seen Hammer fiercely set out to punish Dias, but in the blink of an eye, the old man seemed to have turned into a different person, looking bewildered.

Hammer frowned, stammered for a long time, and finally spread his hands helplessly, "How about... I make those calls again? Ask who I contacted and what arrangements I made?"

"Forget it." Lucy shook her head, "Your performance just now was indeed impressive, full of momentum, and very inspiring, rallying everyone's strength.

But if you now reveal your biggest weakness—amnesia, those you inspired will feel deceived, and will unhesitatingly abandon you and turn to Dias.

After all, Dias is not a senile old fool.

Then we are really doomed!"

Hammer lowered his head, lamenting, "Maybe I really should die. I can't accomplish anything, can't even remember such small things..."

Lucy sighed, her gaze turning to Zhou Qingfeng beside her. She took a deep breath and slowly said:

"Fortunately, I know a bit about the 'Tree of Justice', and have prepared for this day for ten years. Now, I have to coach this guy to step in and replace you, Grandpa."

Zhou Qingfeng was stunned, looking at Lucy in shock, "What do you mean? Replace Mr. Hammer? Me?"

Lucy nodded, "That's right, you need to play the role of the legendary CIA agent, the founder of the 'Tree of Justice', and the illustrious 'Shadow King' for decades." The most up‑to‑date version is on M4VLEMP4YR.

"But I can't even fake being an FBI agent, let alone a legendary agent?" Zhou Qingfeng's eyes widened, not knowing how to respond for a moment.

"That's because you're too dumb, inexperienced. But you're not without advantages, at least your physique is genuinely strong. As long as you don't use your brain, it's not a problem."

Thinking about how this guy carried her and soared on the rooftop, Lucy felt a thrill. It was truly a rare life experience.

"Using your brain, leave that to me." Lucy turned and walked towards the room, opening a hidden cabinet, and took out a tablet.

She handed the items to Zhou Qingfeng, saying seriously, "Here is the core information of the 'Tree of Justice,' as well as Grandpa's personal notes.

You just need to read them and remember some key information. For example, the names and backgrounds of the people within the organization."

"Is this all it takes to impersonate your grandfather?" Zhou Qingfeng was skeptical. The physical difference between him and Old Hammer was too large, impossible to fake.

Lucy smiled, "You don't need to impersonate Grandpa himself, just display his prowess. Like how you never met Dias but were forced into hiding by his prowess."

Zhou Qingfeng instantly understood, "So I just need to cause trouble, right?"

-----------------

At this moment, Dias had already felt Zhou Qingfeng's "prowess"—the two "cleaners" he sent to track Lucy had sent back dozens of on-site photos of "rooftop leaping."

In the photos, the rooftop railings were noticeably bent by external force, and there were several clear footprints left on the rooftop.

These details made Dias frown, yet extremely excited.

With simple mechanical calculations, one could reverse-engineer the force Zhou Qingfeng exerted when leaping off the roof.

The results showed that Zhou Qingfeng's thigh strength far surpassed that of an ordinary person, reaching 1.5 times that of a professional athlete, particularly in explosiveness, which was astounding.

What shocked Dias even more was that the current data indicated Zhou Qingfeng's physical fitness still had room for further improvement.

The report from the two "cleaners" also mentioned no traces suggesting Lucy had made the jump.

Lucy was not a woman skilled in physical activities; her body evidently could not complete such a high-difficulty leap.

Therefore, the only explanation was—Zhou Qingfeng carried her, about one hundred and fifty pounds, and jumped across the gap between the two apartment buildings.

"A marvelous man..." The two "cleaners" did not know who he was or his exact identity, but their intuition told them this man was no ordinary person.

Dias, however, knew of Zhou Qingfeng's existence. He quickly linked the "rooftop leap" with the previous "Governor Hunt," reaching an accurate conclusion: "Victor found Lucy."

His gaze then fell on a document at hand, provided by the military biochemical laboratory on the "X" project report.

Compared to the conservative research within 'Dongda', US Military researchers were much bolder.

They not only conducted cheap experiments using illegal immigrants in the United States but also utilized over four hundred overseas military bases, exploiting numerous refugees from wars and famines for secret research.

According to the report, most elderly, weak, and sick individuals infected with the first generation "X" virus would quickly die, while young and healthy individuals would experience an acute phase similar to the flu, followed by gaining immunity.

However, a very small number of young and healthy individuals would exhibit significant enhancement phenomena—their strength, speed, and endurance would greatly increase, almost identical to Zhou Qingfeng's performance.
