Chapter 10: Too Exciting
Zhou Qingfeng was feeling down.
Just because he "meddled" for a moment and helped a middle-aged father find his rebellious daughter. Within half a day, people seeking help came one after another.
An elderly lady came running with tearful eyes, complaining that her pension had been completely scammed by a stockbroker with an Indian accent.
Zhou Qingfeng asked "Gray Shark" and got a helpless answer—this was a typical international scam.
Unless he had the ability to fly to India and capture the 'Great Immortal,' there was nothing he could do.
Looking at the despair in the old lady's eyes, Zhou Qingfeng softened and gave her three hundred US dollars out of his own pocket, letting her last until the next pension distribution day.
Not long after, someone else came to him, claiming to have inside information about corruption within the Jacksonville City Government and wanted to report it to FBI's 'Inspector Victor.'
Zhou Qingfeng was speechless at this and said he was really not here for a 'disguised visit,' just to protect the key witness—he no longer dared to say he was there to investigate a case.
But the person providing the information refused to leave. Helpless, he had to pass the information to Thomas.
Unexpectedly, Thomas was overjoyed and excitedly said that the Ministry of Efficiency needed such exposés to reveal the decay and incompetence of the previous government.
As long as the scandals of those bureaucrats could be exposed, the 'dog' inspectors enjoyed it, showing off their capabilities while giving the previous government a hard time—why not?
Zhou Qingfeng thought to himself that such information was everywhere, was it worth being so happy about?
But on second thought, the 'dog' inspectors probably never 'worked at the grassroots' like he was doing at the moment, lacking the ability to collect intelligence offline, which was normal.
However, things were getting increasingly outrageous.
Someone came to seek Inspector Victor because their car was stolen; another because their husband cheated, wanting him to uphold justice; and yet another claimed to be sexually harassed and came directly for help.
Zhou Qingfeng was overwhelmed by these trivial matters and finally couldn't bear it any longer. He decided to take Lucy and quickly leave this troublesome place.
Just as he was about to leave, the apartment manager downstairs suddenly called: "Victor, two strange men came with the police looking for Lucy, you better take her and run."
-----------------
Half an hour earlier.
Downstairs of the apartment where Lucy lived, two 'Cleaners' from the Department of Homeland Security parked their car by the roadside, looking around hoping to find a local to ask about the situation?
Generally speaking, 'cleaning' work wasn't suitable for overly complicated processes; they should have gathered information about the target's schedule, route, friends, preferences, etc., before taking action.
Once the 'Cleaners' arrive, they get the job done and then leave quickly, never dragging their feet.
But who made this action somewhat urgent? No one could ensure Hammer Lee wouldn't mess up; they could only try to find him as soon as possible and clean him up quickly.
At this time, the 'Cleaners' needed some extra sources of information, and street thugs were the most convenient targets.
Just flash their government department IDs, offer some benefits, and naturally, someone would provide useful information, even willing to go all out.
But... the two 'Cleaners' scoped out the community streets for a long time but couldn't find a suitable target.
It was said that this community, at a glance, was a place with dirty streets, low housing prices, and poor security, so there should be no shortage of petty thugs, but today they seemed to have disappeared, not a single one in sight.
"Strange, the security of this street doesn't seem too good," one 'Cleaner' remarked while looking at the garish graffiti on the roadside buildings.
"Right, in such a horrible place, the air should be filled with the smell of marijuana in broad daylight, appearing extremely chaotic," the other 'Cleaner' felt it was odd as well.
These two didn't know that Zhou Qingfeng had opened the window early in the morning and was overwhelmed by the stench of marijuana. Disgusted to the extreme, he furiously went downstairs and beat several high junkies black and blue.
Incidentally, several thugs strutting around to show off their 'personality' also got involved, with a few burly guys beaten until they vomited blood.
The street order was instantly revitalized—the local gang thought someone came to encroach on their territory and temporarily withdrew from several nearby streets.
The two 'Cleaners' couldn't find a 'local snake' to inquire about after a long search, so they had to call the local police department, revealing their identity from the Department of Homeland Security, and requested officers to assist in their investigation.
They were prepared to leave traces and planned to forcibly take Lucy away for questioning through official channels.

Zhou Qingfeng was quite surprised when he received the call, but immediately understood the severity of the matter—in his fake identity, he was not suitable to confront military police head-on; any investigation would reveal the truth. MyVirtualLibraryEmpire(M|V|L0EMPYR)hoststheoriginal.
Lucy was feeling extremely bored at home, and reacted very dramatically when she heard the news, quickly grabbing the suitcase that had been prepared in the room, shouting at Zhou Qingfeng:
"What are you standing there for, let's go. The police are coming up the elevator."
Though the apartment was old, it still had an elevator. Lucy lived on the fifth floor, and it would take at most ten seconds. As soon as the elevator door opened, it was the corridor of her floor.
By this time it was too late to go through the front door, Lucy quickly opened the balcony window, climbed out onto the fire escape with her suitcase.
But she didn't go straight downstairs. Instead, she knocked on the window of the next-door neighbor, Mr. Ande.
The old man had been robbed last night and got injured. It was Lucy who had helped to clean and bandage his wounds after he returned home.
Hearing the knock on the window, he got up from his rocking chair, glanced at the girl with the suitcase, wasn't surprised at all, and without a word, smoothly opened the window and let her in.
Zhou Qingfeng was completely baffled. When Lucy nimbly went to open the window, he keenly heard the sound of the elevator door opening in the hallway.
