Insect Tamer's Ascension

Chapter 140: Farewell (7/7)- Infirmary

Both of them brisked toward the infirmary with Elias directing him.

It took some minutes, but when Theo reached the gate of the infirmary, he took a deep breath and stopped.

"She is in one of the rooms here," Elias spoke, and Theo nodded.

With a determined face, Theo entered the infirmary and felt a change in the air. He felt a chill in his spine from the smell and the atmosphere of the place.

Yet he looked around only to see a big lobby and a lot of gates on each wall. There were people walking all around briskly without even noticing him.

Theo felt weird, as he was one of the heirs of the Barony, so ignoring him was rare.

"Where… is she?" Theo asked, and Elias went forward to stop one of the people, who frowned.

The infirmary was anything but what Theo had imagined—it was small.

"She is right there, now please let me go. There is a guard on the brink of death I have to heal," the man Elias asked said with a frown, and Elias let him go.

Elias looked at Theo and pointed at a certain door. Theo brisked toward that room with widened eyes.

KNOCK KNOCK

CREAKKK

Still, Theo didn't forget to knock and enter. When he was fully in the room, he heard some sniffing noises.

An approaching whining sound came from in the room, and Theo found the pup come running toward him with its tail wagging left and right.

Theo crouched down and let the little guy greet him. The pup licked all over his face, and Theo just ruffled his hairy body.

Elias looked and frowned. He didn't like Theo to be licked by a direwolf.

"I missed you. Alright, let's go meet your mother now," Theo ruffled its head one last time before getting up.

The room was bigger than he imagined. The bed where Clara was staying in was still many steps away.

At the side of her bed, there were some bottles filled with strange-colored liquids. It felt the same as a drip one had back in his world. They were connected to Clara's arm and waist.

On the other side, a big boar was seated with its face directly toward Clara's bed. It seemed to notice that Theo had come in the room but still didn't move.

Theo made his way forward toward the bed and stopped directly at it.

He looked at Clara's calm expression and felt a bit relaxed.

"She seems okay right now," Theo muttered, and when he did, a snorting noise came from the side, and Theo looked at the boar with a light smile.

He went toward it and sat beside it on the floor. When Elias saw that, a small smile formed on his face. When others said he was more like the older siblings than the younger generation, Elias could believe it now.

"Don't worry. She will be okay soon," Theo said while caressing his head, making the boar look at him and make another sound again as if understanding him. It was always like that.

The pup came with some whining sounds too and sat its head at Theo's lap. All three of them looked at the bed.

Elias looked at the situation and couldn't help but feel surprised. The boar and the pup were not Theo's, and that meant Theo was possibly making a bond with another's tamed beast. That was a hard thing to do but not impossible.

"Oh, I brought some food for both of you," Theo spoke soon and looked at Elias, who went out and brought back a basket that was filled to the brim by the Mantis.

He kept it on the ground, and the pup was the first one to get up. It went slowly toward the basket and sniffed the contents in it with its panting even heavier.

It looked back once at its master, and then at Theo, who just nodded with a smile.

The pup didn't stop anymore. It moved its face near the basket and took a big bite off the food in it.

Theo noticed the boar looking at it, yet it didn't get up. With a chuckle, Theo patted the iron skin of the boar and spoke, "You are still with Clara right now… you can eat. Come."

Theo tried persuading the boar, who still looked at the food but didn't go there.

Theo just got up, and with the pup's face still in the basket, he dragged it toward the boar, who finally moved its head from the ground.

With that, both the beasts started eating the food, and Theo relaxed watching them. He then got up and saw Clara again, whose face was moving here and there with a frown.

Theo felt some panic and held her hand gently. When he did that, Clara's face slowly started calming down until she was completely calm.

"She trusts you, young master," Elias spoke, and Theo nodded with a warm smile.

With that, Theo stayed there for a long time. Going back, there was only one thing to do today, so he had a lot of time on hand.

When finally, he gently removed his hand from her hand, Theo saw a change in her expression again.

"Excuse me, but you can't be in here right now," a voice came from the gate, and Theo looked at a lady with a stern expression on her face. She was wearing clothes as similar to a doctor's as Theo could imagine.

"We were just leaving," Theo spoke but felt like he had a question too, "Can you tell me if she is okay right now? She looks very scared," Theo asked.

The doctor came forward and looked at her. She examined her body for a few seconds before she looked at Theo again and smiled.

"She is in a deep sleep. Sometimes, when the patient is having a dream they don't like, they become like this. You don't need to worry about her; all the organs on this side are healing back again with the help of the medicines," the doctor stated while examining her body.

Theo felt relieved after knowing that. He even heard a snort from the boar sitting on the floor as if it was huffing in relief.

"How long would it take for her to get up from this sleep?" Theo asked politely, and after the doctor thought about it for a little while before responding.
