Chapter 108: Knight Geller
Theo was standing in the office of his father, there was a light smile on his face.
The Baron, for the first time, was standing and looking toward a table with satisfaction.
There was a white sac with some blood spots on it and a metal box on it.
"I didn't think you would do so many of the missions in a single day, Theo. That is impressive." The Baron spoke, and Theo felt this happiness etch into his heart.
Having such a strong person comment such good feedback made him feel good about himself.
This was the same man who always said that the mantis was a squishable bug, yet with time, the Baron's mentality toward it was changing.
On the other hand, with Clara's help, he was past that 'fear' of his, and when Theo looked back at it again, he thought about how he could have done things better.
It helped him look forward to the next missions.
The Baron opened the metal box and saw the slime moving its body to the shape of its inside.
When the slime saw the opening, it tried coming out, but the Baron just moved his bare hands and went inside its body.
Theo was shocked and wanted him to be vigilant of the digestive juices that could corrode the hand in seconds. But then he remembered what level his father was and just enjoyed the spectacle.
The core tried to go deeper to the bottom of the box, yet the Baron caught and squeezed it lightly. The next second, the slime popped, and all the liquid just spilled in the box.
The Baron moved his hand up, and Alfred was already there with a handkerchief in his hand.
"Moss slimes… quite a weak species of slimes," The Baron spoke while wiping his hand off the slime's juice.
When Theo observed his hand, he saw many scars on it, too many to count. It made him think just how hard his father worked to become a knight of this level.
"But at the same time, they were never made for fighting." He spoke again, and Theo thought about it.
"They are made for support?" Theo spoke.
The Baron just looked at him with a smile, "The last moss slime I saw on the battlefield was the same size as your carriage. Soldiers and tamers could just get inside it, and when they came out a few seconds later, they were as good as new. Their healing abilities become war-support worthy after reaching level 10."
When Theo heard that, his mind quickly went to the man who had brought his level 11 slime to the forest. The one who wanted nothing to do with him and Clara.
"Is there a healer in the town who has a moss slime at level 11, father?" Theo asked in curiosity, making the Baron move his eyebrows up.
He squinted his eyes the next second, "Errr…", after another second, he glanced toward Alfred, who nodded.
"Yes, there is. How do you know?" The Baron asked him with curiosity, without minding the fact that he had totally forgotten or never knew about the healer of the town.
"I saw him in the forest a long time ago, the slime was quite large, father."
"Is that so," The Baron scratched his beard with his clean hand and muttered, "But don't go to the town yet, alright? You are not permitted."
"Never."
"Alright, let's get to the next one." The Baron spoke and went to the white sac with the viper moving in it.
When Theo saw him just casually opening the knot of the sac, he couldn't help but mutter, "It will attack right away, father." He stated quickly.
But it was too late, the Baron had already opened the sac and pulled the cloth away to look at the viper properly.
Theo saw the alive viper inside the Baron's room and couldn't help but feel weird.
Even the viper took some time to know what was happening, it seemed exhausted already.
When it looked at the Baron in front of it, its eyes became sharp. Theo was waiting for it to just pounce at the Baron.
He waited a second, and nothing happened. He waited another five, and nothing happened. The room was just silent.
When Theo's gaze fell on the Baron, he was surprised to see that the Baron was looking at him with a smile, rather than the lethal viper in front of him.
His gaze went to the viper later, and he slowly moved his hand forward, "I would have saved this one to let the kids of one of the soldiers tame it, but it lost its tail."
Under the Baron's presence, the viper either couldn't move or stayed there on its own accord.
When he was close enough, with a single flick of his hand, he snapped the neck of the viper as if it was nothing.
Theo looked at the dead viper and then at his father. He could see a light disappointment on his face, yet the smile was still there.
"Hahahahahaha! Good job, Theo. But if you had brought it with little to no injuries, it would have been better, Theo." He spoke after bursting out in laughter and continued, "But it was your first time, so I am giving you a full star for it."
Theo sighed in relief. He was finally going to get those stars and some new missions.
The Baron left the table where the beasts were and moved to the table. The old letter of the current missions Theo completed was also there.
He looked at them for a second before nodding, "Hm, you missed one. I will add this one with the next missions you will get, Theo. But mind you, it will be more difficult than this boar one you haven't completed."
"I want missions tougher than this one, father. I can already see that they help a lot with my development."
The Baron grinned and nodded before he sat back on his chair, "That's what I like to hear. Alright, you can go now, the new mission and your card with the stars will be there in your room after a couple of hours."
Theo quickly bowed nobly yet couldn't hide his excitement. He bid farewell to the Baron before he went away.
The Baron kept sitting there before he spoke again, "Let him in, I want to hear his thoughts."
"As you wish," Alfred moved gracefully toward the big window and opened it.
He bobbed his head out and frowned. Just at the side of the window, a man was sleeping silently.
"The Baron has called for you… Knight Geller."
The man just opened his eyes slowly and yawned instantly before nodding his head once irking Alfre even more.
