Chapter 122: Change of Ownership
Hearing Heisenberg's promise, Odin gazed deeply at him.
After a long pause, the aged god-king sighed in relief.
"Thank you."
He nodded, withdrawing his hand from Heisenberg's grasp.
Clenching his fist, Odin summoned his last shred of divine power, swiftly healing his wounds and cleansing his bloodstained body.
As the power coursed through him, Odin murmured softly:
"Let me see my children one last time.
I must leave with some dignity."
"No problem."
Heisenberg nodded, and Odin floated beside him.
Together, they soared toward the distant palace, Odin drifting alongside Heisenberg as they returned home.
Heisenberg's speed wasn't particularly fast, allowing Odin to reflect.
He greedily gazed at the mountains and rivers below—though damaged, their beauty remained. He watched the animals scattering in panic, only to cautiously return after realizing the battle was over.
He clung to every sight, every scene he'd once taken for granted but now cherished deeply.
Yet time flows like a river, never to return. No matter his reluctance, the journey was ending.
As Heisenberg passed the mountain range he'd toppled with his bio-force field, the palace and Asgard's city came into view.
…
Shortly after Gungnir's movement, Thor and the others had set aside all tasks, anxiously awaiting the battle's outcome.
So, when Heisenberg and Odin appeared on the horizon, they all turned to look.
But when they saw it was Heisenberg holding the iconic Gungnir…
"No!!!"
Thor roared, raising his hammer to charge.
Before he could take flight, Heisenberg raised the spear.
"They say you never miss?"
He asked softly, then casually hurled the spear.
Without aiming, the spear pierced Thor's flank, pinning him to the ground.
"Fk, aaaah!!!"
Thor cursed through the pain, but before he could react, Heisenberg had brought Odin to the center of the crowd, where Thor lay.
Heisenberg quickly positioned Odin before Thor, preventing the impulsive prince from acting rashly.
Even as Stormbreaker's wielder and the awakened All-Father, Thor was no match for Heisenberg.
And this Thor, lacking battle resolve and repeatedly bested by Mjolnir, was even less of a threat.
Beside them, Odin stood before Thor, steadying himself with difficulty.
He placed his left hand on Thor's shoulder and gripped Gungnir with his right, pulling it free with a grunt.
Glancing at the spear one last time, Odin handed it back to Heisenberg.
He placed his right hand on Thor's shoulder, patting his son gently.
"As you've seen, I gave it my all…
But I lost."
Odin's words sparked an uproar. Legion commanders drew their weapons, while civilians retreated, widening the space around them.
Feeling his father's weakness, Thor's eyes welled with tears. Ignoring his pain, he embraced Odin tightly.
"Father!!!"
"Yes, Father has let you down, my child."
Odin patted Thor's back, pushing him away as he fought back tears.
Stepping back, Odin swayed weakly. Thor reached out, but Odin waved him off.
Steadying himself, Odin turned to address the crowd.
He shook his head, sighing.
"The throne of the Nine Realms no longer belongs to the Aesir!
Behold your new god-king.
He was my final foe, the strongest opponent I've ever faced.
A towering giant from Midgard!
Son of the sun, master of flame and light!
A benevolent, passionate, and magnanimous ruler."
Turning to Heisenberg, Odin forced a smile.
It wasn't resentment—perhaps there was some, but a mature king wouldn't show it.
His pain came from his struggle to stand, not bitterness.
He scanned the crowd: Thor's anger, Sigmund's battle-readiness, Sif and Fandral's confusion, and the distant faces of Frigga and Loki, both filled with regret.
As a captured queen, Frigga's father had been slain by Odin.
As an adopted son, Loki owed Odin for his upbringing.
Enmity and gratitude intertwined, leaving only regret.
Sighing, Odin turned to Asgard's civilians.
"A new era begins, my people. Your old king can no longer ride into battle.
Your new god-king, Heisenberg, though not Aesir, will inherit the sun runes of Yggdrasil—his rightful prize and your assurance.
Though Aesir blood doesn't flow in his veins, Aesir power will pulse in his bones.
Kneel and serve this mighty king!"
Ignoring the murmurs, Odin turned to Thor.
"Thor!"
Thor rushed to his side.
"And all legion commanders, Heimdall!"
The commanders stepped forward, weapons in hand, their faces stern.
Sensing their loyalty, Odin shook his head.
"You never knew, my child.
You have a sister, Hela, sealed in the Midgard Trench.
A gateway to Hel connects there, and my eldest daughter has been bound by my life for over four millennia!
Her power rivals mine. After my death, she'll return to Asgard, driven by hatred.
You can't stop her—you have no right. She was my lieutenant, commander of the Einherjar, heir to the throne, before you were born!
Her mind is extreme, craving endless slaughter. I needed someone to control her, but you're not capable.
Fate sent me a worthy foe, a ruler who might break this cycle.
Trust him as you trusted me. Heisenberg deserves your loyalty!
Sigmund!"
Asgard's greatest hero and chief commander stepped forward.
"This is my final command. Your Berserker legion now serves the new god-king!"
"Yes!"
Sigmund obeyed without hesitation. He was Asgard's most loyal servant, never disappointing Odin.
Next, Odin turned to Heimdall, waving him over.
"Heimdall…"
"I'm here, Your Majesty."
"Yes, you've always been here. Your ancestors guarded Asgard for millions of years.
Eighty kings have ruled, yet the Bifrost's guardian remains Heimdall!
Accept the change of throne.
I, Odin, died in glorious battle, not by deceit or betrayal.
This succession is clear, honorable, the result of the strong being overcome by the stronger.
Respect his victory and power—it's respecting me. Understand?"
"Yes!"
Heimdall nodded, though reluctantly, and stood before Heisenberg.
Odin turned to Frigga and Loki, gesturing them over.
Frigga and Loki approached, and Odin instructed softly:
"You know how to pass the Aesir runes through Yggdrasil.
After my death, guide Heisenberg to claim his prize."
"Yes."
Frigga nodded.
Odin smiled weakly, then extended his hand to Loki.
Seeing Odin's frailty, Loki hesitated, then steadied him.
Odin sighed.
"You've all met your new god-king.
As for me…
Thor, Loki, take me to Midgard, to Norway.
I… have final words for you both."
As Odin finished, Frigga looked to Heisenberg.
The seasoned queen knew the world had changed. Without the victor's permission, she dared not use the Bifrost.
Noticing her gaze, Heisenberg understood and nodded.
Instantly, the Bifrost's light descended, carrying Odin, Thor, and Loki away.
With their departure, Asgard fell silent.
Over 1.8 million Asgardians stood in the city, all eyes on Heisenberg.
Heisenberg slowly turned, surveying his new domain.
His gaze rested on Frigga.
Raising Gungnir high, he waited.
As the spear steadied, nearly two million Asgardians knelt.
Even Heimdall's sorrow, Sif and Fandral's resentment, and Sigmund's uncertainty couldn't defy Odin's command.
They pledged allegiance to Heisenberg.
From this day forth, the throne of the Nine Realms…
Had a new master!
