Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!

Chapter 504 - Reporting Back to the Academe (Part 2)

Seeing that I did not respond or have any questions, Mr. Jonas continued, "Before you took him in as your attendant, his academe points was a measly 49,800. This is quite low if you compare it to your first attendant since they arrived in this academe and started working at the same time. If you think in that sense, that was his total points even after working for 5 years."

When I heard about his total points, I felt a plethora of emotions in a span of a few seconds though my face did not show any of it. I felt surprised, confused, regret, pity and even amazement one after the other.

I felt surprised and confused at how low his points were compared to Ioannis who also has the same tenure of service in the academe. I felt pity too in a sense that Arthur seems to have given up on the idea of being a free man a long time ago and simply did the bare minimum in his work just so that he won't be tagged as lazy.

Amidst those feelings, I also felt regret as to why I challenged him to earn points enough to free himself by the time I graduate from the academe since that would be quite a hurdle to get through if he starts from 49,800 points only. Lastly, I feel amazed towards my first husband as well since his total points were astonishingly high compared to other attendants.

Arthur has been with me for several months now. Though I made a bet with him about his freedom, I did help him out as much as I can too. I gave him daily tasks in the house so he can get daily points and allowed him to take classes and even apply for certifications in hopes to lighten the pressure on him. Whenever I am not in the academe, he only has to maintain the cleanliness of the villa but the rest of the time, he can take as many academe tasks as possible so he can rack up more points.

I eagerly asked Mr. Jonas, "Umm... You said he started at 49,800 during the time that I took him in as an attendant to replace Ioannis, correct? That has been several months ago. What I am trying to ask is, how much is his academe points as of now?"

Mr. Jonas then gave me a cryptic smile and then replied, "That is the most interesting part. As of now, he has 195,900. He earned almost 150,000 academe points in less than half a year. I guess you did something to ignite his drive to work hard and be freed."

It was my turn to give my own version of a cryptic smile to Mr. Jonas. I do not have any intention of revealing any details of the bet that I made with Arthur with anyone. That would stay known to only me, Ioannis and Arthur.

Understanding that I won't be speaking anything about my techniques in making my attendants earn more points or work harder in general, Mr. Jonas changed the topic and asked if I have decided on the courses I would be taking for the upcoming semester.

I gave a him a list of the subjects that I have finally decided on taking which I wrote on a piece of paper he gave me earlier. All of them are more of like "hobby" type classes if you read through them since I have completed all the mandatory ones by the time I completed my 3rd semester in my first year.

As Mr. Jonas looked into the list of subjects, he quickly looked up and asked me with one of his eyebrows raised, "Are you sure about this list of courses? This list is... How should I say it... These classes are totally incongruent or maybe unrelated with each other."

I chuckled at his comments and answered teasingly, "You should get used to how I choose subjects since my enrollment for the next semester after this one should follow the same degree of incongruence for sure."

If you look at my list, the classes are way more specific or specialized but I believe they are still quite related to my previous classes and certifications. The classes include two which are related to farming which were on horticulture and animal science (livestock), one class in aromachology (study of making perfumes and scents), one course on candle making which is an application of the previous subject, two courses in clothes making which covered textile science (making cloth) and fashion design (designing and creating clothes) and though quite late, courses on hand to hand combat, as well as use of weapons and combat magic.

When I read it again, I understood better why Mr. Jonas thinks they are all incongruent with each other. I have knowledge in all professions but the only way to explain my knowledge of everything is to take even basic courses about them here in the academe so here I am, taking a hodgepodge of unrelated courses to back up the knowledge that I have had in my head from the start.

After enrolling to all the courses that I felt like taking for this semester, I went out of the student affairs office to drop by the attendant's hall. I am planning to inquire if I could take in another attendant since I want Arthur to focus on getting to that 300,000 academe point goal that he has set on himself by the time I graduate.

I reached the door of the attendants' hall in just a few minutes. I knocked politely and as usual, the first person that I saw when I came in was Mr. Greg. He looked stunned of my visit and also a little confused since I have only ever come to this place twice since I started studying here. He immediately stood up and ushered me to the receiving area for guests.

He hurriedly took out some snacks and refreshments just like how Mr. Jonas has welcomed me. This is miles away from how we treated each other during the first time we met when I came to take Ioannis. Now, we were cordial enough to share some snacks together while sitting down, talking about random things. I'm quite happy how the relationship has improved so far.

Once we have settled into our seats, I asked if it was possible to have another attendant. He quickly asked if I have any issues with Arthur which confused me at first. I then realized that he may be thinking that I was asking for a replacement and not an additional one.

I hurriedly clarified that I will still keep Arthur but I would need another one for personal reasons. As if enlightened, he asked, "Oh. Was it because of the construction of the annex next to your villa? How many attendants do you think you need to maintain the place? I am sure we can make an exemption and give you more than one."

The more Mr. Greg spoke, the more I couldn't understand what he was saying for some reason. My brain started to automatically focus on the parts that was most confusing to me.

Construction? Annex? Next to my villa?

What is he even talking about? When did these things happen?

Seeing that I have not responded even if he has asked a series of questions, Mr. Greg stared at my face which I am sure was more of blank than surprised. That is when he realized that I must have no idea at all about what he was saying.

He carefully asked, "Were you not advised about that annex being built right next to your villa? It was constructed quite quickly. It was already finished within a month which was quite impressive."

I tried to keep my calm and focused on clarifying the details instead, "Did you just say that an annex, a whole building, was added next to my villa while I was away? It was hurriedly constructed before the date I was back?"

Mr. Greg simply nodded his head to answer both of my questions. He then gave me a nervous smile as if he made a mistake about telling me about it.

I smiled back and thanked Mr. Greg for letting me know about it though he still looked a bit nervous due to my reaction to the news. I did not choose an attendant for now due to the more urgent issue at hand but I promised him that I will come back before the semester starts to finish all the paperwork and take my pick of an attendant or attendants depending on the situation. I excused myself and hurriedly went out of the attendants' hall to go back to where the headmaster was.

I need answers and any possible ways to mitigate this issue. I may not be able to have them destroy that building but I atleast have to know who is so important that the academe built a whole new building just to house this person and why does that structure have to be constructed right beside my home. They even did it though they know I would never approve of it.
