Chapter 492 - Staying Back at Marahuyo (Part 2)
My second day in the sanctuary, as expected, was as busy as ever. After the in-depth meeting with the elders early in the morning, I got more information about the recent changes in population as well as the races and specific tribes that moved inside Marahuyo while I was away. Considering everything that I have learned, I decided to conduct other meetings for specific groups to keep things simpler and more organized.
The first meeting I set was for the beast man group comprised of herbivores such as the tribes from the deer, cow, sheep, rabbit, goat, tortoise and horse families. Luckily, each tribe has already chosen their respective leaders, representatives or their group of elders, whichever they prefer. It was quite surprising since when I left several months ago, I only brought sheep, deer and cow beast men at that time.
The overall feel of the first meeting was very calm and detailed making the whole thing very productive. I wanted to start in a good mood so I chose this group first which was known to have a reserved and observant temperament . With how peaceful everything was, we were able to maximum the time available to discuss each tribe's preferences for what their homes should look like and also the general outline of the future communities.
Housing is not the only thing that a community needs to thrive. Public facilities also have to be planned in advance and must be constructed as soon as possible for all the citizens. For herbivores who love farming, they requested that farms can be built as the main source of sustenance and for everyone to have some work to do. They also requested that each house has either a front yard or a backyard where they can freely plant edibles for their personal consumption as well as medicinal herbs in case someone needs them urgently.
Since I do not see anything wrong about their requests, I readily agreed with them and even helped them put their vision into a drawing. I will be giving this to Laerad in the near future so he has a reference on what he needs to build in the new world tree realm. I thought of making plans to make the guy's job easier.
Right after the first meeting, I did a quick discussion with the new elves, heralds and giants that are current citizens of Marahuyo. There were less than a dozen of them even if you add up all three races together. I thought that it would be better if they can join with their tribes as soon as possible so I advised them to pack up and be ready to move out. I shared to them that we will all be leaving in two days and they will move out with my 3 husbands and my father-in-law (Makisig's father, Dakila).
Upon hearing that they finally got the permission to move out to where their kind was, the faces of the elves, heralds and giants showed a mix of a pleasant surprise. Most of them also showed a hint of excitement for things that they will discover in the new place. Everyone also started thanking me profusely for my kindness in helping all of them though I barely know them and they could not repay me with anything valuable due to their circumstances.
Luckily, the calm and collaborative atmosphere between the people in the meeting hall extended up from the first meeting to this latest one. As for the population checking, the beast man tribes that are present in the sanctuary are the bears, boar, fox, rat, monkey and peacock beast men. Their requests were more varied than that of the herbivores. The things that they asked were as varied as the types of things they consider food.
The omnivores also wanted farms but it was not particularly just plants that they want to take care in it. They wanted a space where they can take care of domesticated animals as an alternative source of food when it is too hard to hunt or prey is scarce. Finally, they requested that they be placed near a body of water where they can catch fresh fish from.
There were a lot of requests but there was none that can be considered too much. Everything they asked was justifiable and easy to set up so I agreed with their requests. Just like in the first meeting, I made a plan together with the leaders so that we can envision how the community would look like. This would be submitted to Laerad for easier building too.
Though my body is sturdy, I feel like I am starting to tire out mentally from all the planning and discussing that has been on since very early morning. I guess it is just mind over matter since I want to finish as much of my tasks and meetings that I can before this day ends.
I decided not to rest and go through the next meeting which is the fourth one for the day. Unfortunately, the last meeting was not as calm as the first one as the attendees were all hot-headed and prideful carnivores. Honestly, though the meeting was not even an hour long, it took every single shred of my patience not to kick any of them out of the sanctuary. Just listening to the bickering and sarcastic remarks has drained me more than all of fatigue from the other three earlier meetings combined.
On my end, I was trying to be as patient as I can since I fully understand the fact that each race or tribe will have their own preferences in almost everything around them specifically their habitat and choice of sustenance. Even carnivores, no matter how aloof, strong and indifferent they may be, still has preferences in the type of meat they eat or the area where they hunt for food.
As I looked around the meeting room full of arguing people, I tried to identify the tribes that are present. The tribes that sent their representative in the meeting were the lion, wolf, leopard, tiger, snake and eagle tribes. What's most noticeable though was that the members of the carnivore tribes here are all branch families. When asked, they simply said that, "We want to live our lives freely and away from the shadows of the main branches of the family. We don't want to keep our children begging for scraps and benefits that they will never be given."
Once all the bickering was over, I sighed and asked them to focus on the next task. We all brainstormed on how the tribal communities would look like for the carnivores. They requested to be near forests that have prey available. They hated farming but wanted a special space for butchering and keeping meat fresh and preserved instead. They also requested a huge community kitchen since most of them opt to eat cooked food now instead of eating bloody and raw pieces of meat.
All the ideas were eventually placed in one piece of paper that is acceptable for everyone. I hurriedly excused myself and thanked them for meeting with me. After getting out of the meeting hall, I immediately teleported to my villa and dropped face first on my bed again. Today is really tiring.
Just when I decided to just stay laying like that, I heard a soft voice inside the room, "Wife, would you like me to help you prepare a bath and a change of clothes?" I pushed my body off of the bed and turned my head quickly to where the voice came from and saw Vaelion seated on one of the soft chairs in my room.
I coughed and responded, "How long have you been waiting? It is alright. I can do that. You can just stay seated." This guy is really a talented spy. I did not notice his presence inside the room immediately.
Vaelion's eyes widened in surprise then I think I saw a hint of hurt and hopelessness too. He looked down and then softly responded, "I understand but... I really wanted to help you out. We rarely meet so I can only serve you rarely so..."
I sighed and smiled at him in defeat. This soft spoken elven guy has always been timid and it was not just because it is his personality but he was always submissive. He may think I did not notice but I knew that he always thought of himself as lesser than the other husbands.
If I would compare his way of thinking to anyone, it would be similar to Dimitri before I married him officially and we had a child. He always thought of himself as just a random pick, not really chosen or liked but was useful enough to be kept.
This sort of thinking comes from different factors but generally it can be what they experience as a child, what they learn while growing up and what they see is happening to other men who have been tied to women that treat them poorly. He is far too obedient and submissive as if he is afraid that I will cast him aside any time. I need to correct this way of thinking soon, the same way I did for Dimitri.
