Chapter 329 - An argument at first sight

Luxiel's POV
When I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was the familiar high ceiling of the Eieneos palace. The lights were dim in this room at least so it was not hard to open my eyes.
The last thing I remembered were my parents who helped the royal guards knock me out. I saw my father's helpless face and I could still hear my mother's sobs as they explained to me that they had no other choice and that it was a goodbye for now.
Since I was awoken, this means that the princess, the one that the seer has prophesized that will save this world is now here. The princess who is the fiancée that was arranged to all four of the heirs of the noble houses.
For some reason, I couldn't move my body just yet. I can only roam my eyes and turn my head a bit. As I looked at my left, I saw that Touya was also in the same situation as I am. He was dazed and just staring dumbly at the ceiling.
I then heard someone chuckle from an area a little further from me. I will never mistake that creepy laugh for anyone else's. That's Altair, the jerk.
I looked at my right and saw an empty bed. If all of us three are laying motionless, this bed should belong to Samir but where is he? Was he able to get his strength back so quickly?
It took me a few minutes to move my fingers and toes a bit. I just have to be patient. It's not like I was only asleep and immobile for only a week. I am even amazed that I didn't turn to stone, sleeping for more than four centuries.
After what seems like forever, I sat up from my bed with all my might, making me dizzy in the process. I was about to fall off the bed when I felt someone grab my shoulder. When I looked up, it was Samir, supporting my weight so I won't tumble to the floor.
He looked at me in exasperation and said, "Can't you at least be patient and careful when you move? Our wife told me to ensure that all of you wake up with no issues and you all know your tasks in this kingdom. Now, you just go and move rashly. You almost hurt yourself!"
I just looked back at him and did not respond. From what I got from everything he said, he was asked to take care of the three of us after waking up. That explains why the bed to my right was empty. Our wife woke him up earlier than everyone else.
I looked at him intensely and examined his body with my mana but before I was able to complete my scan of his body, I felt Samir's mana block mine. He looked at me with a raised brow and chuckled, "No need to check. She hasn't accepted me yet." I saw the undisguised hurt in his eyes when he said those words.
Thinking about Samir's circumstances, it isn't hard to see that the future isn't that bright for any of us. I guess we should all be contented for now that she even made the effort to wake us up.

Touya's POV
When I finally opened my eyes, the first thing I felt was relief. I thought that I would never get a chance to awaken again.
The next thing I felt was grief. It was the realization that at this time, my parents are no longer with me. I wanted to be with them but I do not want to waste their sacrifices just to keep me alive.
I closed my eyes once again and tried to absorb mana from the surroundings. From the moment I woke up, I knew that my body was weak. I could not even move a finger right now.
I heard some noise from my right so while my eyes are closed I tried to expand my senses as practice. I felt a fiery presence. If it was a being with the fire attribute, it must be that muscle-brained Luxiel.
I also heard a modulated chuckle. When I heard it, it felt like the ground has opened to swallow me up. This creepy feeling can only come from only one being, Altair. It was sending shivers down my spine, this pesky demon.
I heard another sound, this time, a loud thud of something or maybe someone falling. It was followed by a loud scolding voice. I remember that voice even if it has been several centuries. It was that sarcastic and cunning Samir.
I moved my head to look to my right and there he was, standing next to a weak-looking Luxiel. This not-so-bright childhood friend must have forced himself to get out of his bed even if he is feeling damn weak. Well, only his brain out of the four of us would have the capability to think that way.
I looked to my left and I saw Altair staring towards the ceiling. He had that creepy smile on his face. He must be thinking of weird plans in his head again. It is better just to stay quiet than to be caught in the crossfire.
Altair must have heard everything that Samir had said and he did not like it one bit. Samir has always been cunning and though it sounded just like a scolding towards Luxiel, it was loud enough for all of us to hear. It was as if he is staking his claim of being the first in our wife's life and that he is the leader or something.
I wanted to laugh out loud at his attempt to put us all under his control. I will sit this one out. Altair would be enough to give him a reality check later.

Altair's POV
When I opened my eyes and saw the familiar ceiling, the first thing I did was click my tongue in annoyance. That seer was right with his prophecies after all. We are woken up by our supposed wife after several centuries just like what he said. What is the point though when there is no one else left in the kingdom besides the five of us.
I breathed in and out deeply, absorbing the mana in my surroundings. I expanded my senses and noticed that I wasn't alone. There were two on my right and one a little further back. There was no killing intent so it was fine to relax.
After a while, I found myself smiling and chuckling. It is finally time to meet my wife after all. Does she think I forgot how she played with my body then she left me to deal with the frustration and unfulfillment afterwards?
Just when I was daydreaming on how I will take my little revenge on my wife, I heard the irritating voice of my childhood "acquaintance" nagging the stupid Luxiel. I scoffed at his loud voice as if telling the whole world he's the leader.
I looked next to me and I saw Touya smirking which, just so you know, is very rare to see. This guy is a block of ice. His face was always emotionless. For someone to make him smirk, he must have reached the threshold of Touya's patience real quick.
I slowly sat up, being careful not to fall due to dizziness like the red haired moron. I don't think I would be able to stay quiet like he did if the annoying Samir nagged at me just as I woke up. I will definitely smack him if he just spoke to me with even just one word.
When Touya saw me sit up, he slowly sat up too. He looked at me for a few seconds and gave me a nod in greeting. He then looked to his other side and stared at Luxiel. I saw him sigh and ignore the commotion and just look forward like he heard or seen nothing.
I tried to wiggle my limbs a bit while continuously absorbing mana from around me. I was simply making sure that all parts of my body are being energized and are under my control.
Once I am sure that I won't stumble like Luxiel, I slowly slid off the bed and stood up. I was still holding on to the edge of the bed for balance. It is better to be cautious.
Upon seeing me stand, Touya did the same, following my example. As for Luxiel, he stood up abruptly again and this time he was able to. I saw him bump Samir on purpose and the guy staggered a few steps backwards.
I giggled at it and Samir immediately turned his head towards me. I looked at him with a smirk on my face, something that I know he hated. I heard him murmur, "jerk" and before he knew it, I teleported right behind him, held his collar and threw him towards the wall.
His back hit the wall hard and he slid down towards the floor. I looked at him from where I was standing and said, "Did sleeping for a long time give you amnesia? Touya may be passive and Luxiel may be patient with you but I am not. With that long monologue you spoke of as if scolding Luxiel, you think you aren't a jerk too?"
Surprisingly, Touya smiled sweetly at Samir's direction. I am creeped out by this smile that we see rarely. I know I am creepy when I smile at times too but this guy is a whole level creepier.
I saw Touya lift his hand towards Samir's direction and then he said, "You should learn when to shut up. You're noisy." His hand went down at the end of his sentence and I saw ice enveloping Samir quickly from his feet up to his neck.
Touya then started walking out of the room followed by Luxiel. I walked near Samir and looked at his status closely. I chuckled and said, "You can't play leader just because you woke up first. None of us are pushovers."
