Chapter 319 - Making most out of the new labor force (Part 1)
The next day, I made sure to wait for Laerad to open his eyes before I bid him a proper good morning then sadly a goodbye afterwards. I was only allowed to leave though after I promised to give him more frequent visits even if it was as short as the one today. It was to appease my deity husband and to ensure that the children are growing well. It is my first time to have a deity husband and it is also Laerad's first time to have a deity child so there is much more we have to learn and be cautious about.
I also make it a point to ask him if there is anything else he needed so I can address those things before finally leaving. He just reminded me of the other areas that still needed to be completed including my personal realm. I reminded him to take his time to build the other areas since we have already built quite a few and so far only one have tenants as of now.
He pouted at the fact that I was leaving just right after spending one night with him, barely 24 hours but he knew that I am currently at my busiest at this time. I would need to settle the giants, elves and heralds next and have them live as my new tenants inside this realm soon too.
The more tenants we have, the easier it would be for me and Laerad to support the existence of the whole world tree realm. I want to lessen the burden on my husband's life force and mana as much as possible so he can concentrate on nurturing the twin's growth and keeping himself healthy instead.
After several minutes more of cuddle time and cajoling, he finally let me go even if he doesn't look happy one bit. I told him that he can visit Eieneos now when he wants someone to talk to. I know it gets lonely without friends and honestly, his only friends are my parents, Samir and Ioannis.
I told him that though I did not tell Ioannis about his pregnancy, he still found out and I don't want to lie to him so I did not dare deny it when he asked me. Laerad laughed at how frustrated I looked and told me that he always knew that we can't keep for too long since Ioannis was amazingly smart and keen for a human (well, he is deified now). I never thought that this guy who easily gets jealous at every man that comes near me will actually say something good about my main consort.
After leaving our little hut in the core of the realm, I visited the personal realm that I specifically asked for from Laerad. My goal is to make a final check of all the living areas that have been built. It was filled with little huts similar to what Laerad made. It was enchanted with space magic that makes it several times larger when you go in compared to how it looked on the outside.
I filled my realm with different types of flowers, fruit-bearing trees and some small fluffy animals that my children can take as pets when they grow up a little bit. I also built some areas where my husbands can practice their hobbies and things that they loved to do like alchemy laboratories, study rooms, libraries, training grounds, a huge shared kitchen, greenhouses full of herbs and plants, expansive gardens and farm lands and even a cute primary school where the children can learn basic skills including reading, writing and artithmetic from me, fathers or teachers I will hire in the future.
All the living, working and decorative areas have been completed at this point and the only thing left was the innermost part of my personal realm. I still left some empty spaces just in case I have to build more houses and other working areas in the future. As for the innermost part of my realm, it was designed the same way as how the one Laerad designed his.
The core of the world tree realm simply had several receptacles with gigantic orbs for each mana attribute. It had a total of eight receptacles for each attribute namely: wind, water, earth, fire, plant, light, dark and chaos. These receptacles then are used as the main power source to keep this realm protected from invaders and also hidden to those that were non-residents or simply those that are unwelcomed visitors.
I made the innermost part of my personal realm as a secondary power source for the whole world tree realm. Instead of 8 like what Laerad had, I have 9 receptacles, each with their corresponding orbs. Eight of those receptacles were of smaller sizes around 15 meters in diameter, dedicated for each of the attributes. The last one was much larger than the other eight, more than triple the previous receptacles' size actually, at 50 meters in diameter.
The biggest one was half embedded into the ground which will be what we will be using to keep all the collected rent from all the mystique tenants. I have built a magical mechanism which will then separate the different mana attributes towards the smaller receptacles assigned to them. This secondary power source will be used to keep the balance of mana and support the existence of the world tree realm. It has already been connected to the main power source in the core realm with Laerad's help.
Though I have the ability to produce all these attributes on my own, being my main attribute as chaos which is the existence of all attributes at the same time, I don't have such a giving heart like Laerad to just sacrifice myself for everybody else who will be living here. Sure, I would contribute but not to the extent that it will be detrimental to my own life.
I feel that I am already sacrificing enough of my time and efforts for my main mission by ensuring their races do not face extinction. At the same time, I am not willing to sacrifice Laerad's life for them. He has already been betrayed before, his life disregarded by the mystiques he tried to protect and provide for. I do not care if those who did those atrocious things to him are still alive or not. I don't want to risk it happening again and hurting my husband in the process.
I spent more than half a day in world tree realm time to complete the other necessary final touches for my personal realm. Once the core area was finished, as an inventor, I had to try if it works of course.
I did a little trial and error by injecting my own mystique mana until the orb embedded into the ground became at least 25% full. The mechanism immediately worked on separating the different mana attributes that make up my chaos attribute and it was enough to fill about 5% of each of the eight orbs. With this little experiment, I knew that the mechanism was created successfully.
Once done with my little construction job here, I decided to drop at the new Zanahavre living area to give the new tenants a last check before I let them live on their own. As a new landlady, I have to make sure they are living well so in turn it would be easier for them to pay their rent on time.
Another reason for my visit is because I have some business ideas that I want the fairy king to look into and share amongst his confidants. The ideas that I wanted to provide are simply to help them earn money which they can use to buy other things that they might need from the human realm. My ideas are nothing new in my old world but I guess this is something new and fresh here.
Once I made sure that everything is ready for use, I teleported back to the fairies' living area and entered Peony's residence after announcing my arrival with a loud voice. I heard several hurried footsteps from the staircase and saw the fairy king's bright smile as he saw me enter the main door. I almost blurted out and called him "father-in-law". It was a good thing that I immediately saw that he was not the only one going down the stairs.
I saw Rosia his followed by Nasturtium and then his four older brothers. They were hurrying down the stairs like their father to greet me. I each gave each of them a polite nod to acknowledge their presence but did not look at them for more than a few seconds. I still received "that" look from those those five pairs of eyes as if they want to tell me something but I chose to ignore it since there are far more important and urgent matters than "that".
Instead of calling out loudly, I simply nodded to Peony politely and immediately requested to speak to him in private. He maintained his gracious smile and lead me to his parlour. He understood immediately that it was a serious talk and the topic must be urgent and confidential as of the moment.
Peony and I stayed inside the private room while having snacks and beverages. We talked in between eating and drinking for more than two hours as we had to talk about many topics. It included requests that his people have told him and if he had any specific plans on how his race will earn a living moving forward.
