Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!

Chapter 279 - Handling the next tasks on my list

I teleported to my next stop during my visit in this region. This place will hopefully help me with my goal to battle my overthinking habits and the growing pains of having a harem of possessive, competitive and jealous men. I believe the tasks I have assigned myself today will help me with calming down my emotions and tiring me out at the same time. I both need those as of the moment.

I appeared within the area north of Sklavryet where they have already started extending the borders for my business partnership with Noir. Though Sklavryet's northern wall will be kept as is to maintain the territory separate from my new project. I requested another wall which technically south of the new area to be built. It will be about 100 meters away from Sklavryet's northern wall.

I plan to use that space in between the walls as a passage straight to the forests near Gollmortha and other places towards the east region without passing through any of the two territories. It will be a source of income through convenience toll fees and will also serve as a shortcut for people from the western side if they want to get to their destination to the east side quickly.

I gave clear instructions that the new place has to have outer walls enveloping it like a fortress. The surrounding walls will be at least 8 meters tall and 2 meters thick. I will still place a barrier around it too. You may think it is an overkill but for my dream city to be possible. all security measures should be at the highest degree to avoid external interferences to the peace, freedom and flexibility that I want for all the people that will be living in it.

I looked around the area and I can't help but notice that although it has been nearly two weeks from the time I left to report back to the academe, my people have not made that much progress and have covered only a very little part of the whole area when it comes to clearing up the trees, rocks and other debris.

With this speed, the construction team of Noir were definitely not lying when they said that it is a long-term project since just clearing up the place and flattening the ground would take almost a year. I did promise to help them out to make cleaning up faster so here I am.

I looked around this expanse of lush forests with a sudden shift to an expanse of dry and sandy deserts which should not be environmentally possible if I was in my previous world. I do not have any idea how this can be possible but it miraculously happened in this place. The vast difference in soil quality and temperatures is definitely bound to be a difficult challenge to any construction team.

As for the trees and other materials that I can salvage from clearing up the area, they can be used for the construction anyways. My plan was to keep a portion of the older trees and build the city around them. It is nice to have natural shady areas when you walk around on a sunny day.

One thing amazing about being from Eieneos is my people's ability to control all elements perfectly while most mystiques can only have one or two compatible elements at their disposal. Since I am already this lucky, I can just think of this as a practice to get better at using my wood, earth and space attributes as well as my telekinesis capabilities. If I want this project to start being built soon, I should help where they are having the hardest time on which is cleaning up the place. I can keep the living trees and any animals caught alive in my storage anyways then design the layout of the new city as I go.

As I arrived at the borders of my new project, I closed my eyes and extended my mana sense throughout the area. This place is at least 12,000 hectares, easily over the minimum land area of a city back in my previous country. This should be enough space to allot for housing areas, commercial buildings, government offices, farms and other key places to keep my city running and prosperous.

I picked out some of the tallest and oldest trees that are brimming with vitality based on my mana sense. I will keep them planted right where they are and design the place around them instead. They will serve as landmarks and natural shaded areas where parks can be made in the future.

The sturdy trees appropriate for use as high quality lumber will be used for construction. The leaves of those trees can be used as roofing back in Marahuyo, feed for farm animals or even making compost, The roots and excess branches can be made into firewood. For fruit bearing trees, I will keep them for replanting in one of the farms we will be having inside the territory. I also made sure to procure seeds from each tree so I can replant them to replace the ones that I have cut.

Once I was able to mark each and every tree as to what their purpose will be for this project, I floated, well, much like flew upwards so I can see a top view of the whole land area. I positioned myself on top of the central area. I will start cleaning up from there then go outwards.

I released all of my mana seal to hide my magic, closed my eyes and expanded my mana outwards to do the job I needed to do here This is my first time using wide-range spells that is meant to change the characteristics of the environment so as expected, I may have overdone it. I kind of caused a bit of an earthquake and a lot of noise when I uprooted most of the trees since I did it in one go. I then trimmed the trees and cut them by parts according to their intended purpose. Finally, I dropped them back to the ground in a not-so-gentle manner which I belatedly realized was causing loud noises.

I was so engrossed on the tasks I have set on myself that I drowned out all the distractions around me. It was as if I programmed my brain to just do one task after another until the whole area was cleaned up. At least, it made my mind blank for some time. When I came back to my senses, the whole area was already cleaned up and piles of materials are scattered around near me. I don't know how much time exactly have I used before I finished working but when I looked up at the sky, it was almost dusk.

It seems like while I was in my work-mode trance, almost 6 hours have already passed. I did not even notice people from Noir arriving in the area where I was in. They quietly started helping out in arranging the construction materials I have harvested like lumber and stones so as not to disturb me one bit.

One of the elders couldn't help himself and commented, "We thought that the territory was being attacked due to the earthquakes and explosion-like sounds coming from the north. You should have at least given us a heads up that you would be working here today."

I smiled shyly and replied, "I'll keep that in mind for next time. I tend to focus too much on a task to notice anything in my surroundings. Did I unknowingly caused panic in Sklavryet?"

The elder laughed a bit and answered, "Well, not much. Most people ended up running and hiding in bunkers. Some of the weaker men passed out from the scare and there were tons of crying children."

I looked away guiltily and apologized for my blunder. It may have caused an unnecessary commotion but I did finish the job in just a few hours instead of the initial quote that it would take a year. I need this place up and running the soonest since I will be quite busy with adding family members within the latter part of the year. I don't know if this world has a concept of final exams in academes or schools but I may have to prepare for that as well.

I just remembered that I have also lined up another immersion by the end of this year or at the start of next year to become a full fledged physician so I can't be any more busier than I am now and during the next months. I gave the elder some final instructions and gave a go signal to proceed with building the outer walls first. I gave him a physical copy of the design I made in my head on how the city would look like so they have something to follow during the different phases of the construction.

The elder looked at me in surprise with the ton of information written in a tall stack of papers as well as all the long list of instructions I gave him verbally. It's my little revenge for him teasing me and talking to me sarcastically earlier. I gave him a sweet smile and bid my goodbye. Before he can complain and ask further questions, I teleported out from his sight to my next destination.

I reappeared in one of the deserted alleys in the red light district of Sklavryet. I made sure to clean myself up, change my clothes and put on my spells for disguise to appear as a regular human with a bit of mana. I am back to being Selene, the contractual worker. I went straight to the only auction house in this territory out of curiosity. I am not planning to buy any of their items but I would if this is another case of rescuing someone in need of urgent help.
