Chapter 23, A God's Will
(Day 105) July 7th, 2034 Center of Earth’s Universe
Raphael came into the God’s study silently and stood patiently.
“Yes,” the God asked.
“The changes the mortal made to the race of Humans on Earth has reduced the number of souls released significantly,” Raphael asked.
“How significantly? the God asked.
“Enough that there have been less than 100,000 deaths in the last 18 Earth months” he replied.
“The overall effect?”
“The overall effect is less than 1% of 1% “
“Negligible,” The God said.
“Thor” the God chuckled “This new Thor is expanding throughout its section of the Milky Way quickly. It has already spread into every star system within 10,000 light-years and will soon come into contact with another civilization that is centuries ahead of Earth. If conflict erupts the souls released from both sides should increase.”
“The Lexi,” Raphael asked.
“Yes, hyper-intelligent, militaristic, and Isolationist. I do not think they will take kindly to being invaded by a technology they cannot understand.” The God paused for a moment. “I believe it’s time for one of the Lexi’s scientists to discover the human race, which is only 26,000 light-years from their home star.
“As you will it, so shall it be. Raphael said, then turned on his heel and left the God to his musings.
The God watched Raphael go. There would of course be souls freed but humanity wasn’t going to be releasing very many of theirs anytime soon. Instead, the Lexi were about to be decimated. Thor was living up to his namesake. If he somehow developed a Soul? He mused. Well, then a being worthy of the name Thor he would definitely be. It would be interesting to see how Thor decided to cross the intergalactic gaps.
