Chapter 323: First thing to do
"What?! Are you seriously taking us with unawakened inside beasts area?!" Yoora frowned,
"Beasts?" Elshienne asked, clearly surprised She looked a bit nervous now, her eyes wide with worry. "Are you sure we're ready for that?"
Minseok, who had been walking quietly behind everyone, spoke up next. "Wait, so we're going to be in there with these creatures? How do we even know they won't attack us?"
Seojun nodded, his eyes scanning the hallway ahead. "That's what you'll be learning. How to approach them, how to handle them, and how to tame them. We don't just use force. Taming is about understanding and control. Not all creatures can be tamed with the same methods."
Seojun led the students into the large, dimly lit warehouse. As they walked in, Yoora's face showed signs of frustration, and she crossed her arms tightly. "This is what you meant by the warehouse?" she asked, her voice sharp. "It's full of beasts! We're supposed to handle these creatures?"
Seojun didn't say much. He just nodded, his face calm and unreadable, as usual. The warehouse was filled with cages and pens, each containing a different beast. Some of the creatures paced around restlessly, while others lay still, watching the students with curious eyes.
Hannah, who had been excited earlier, now looked scared. She took a step back, her face pale as she glanced around at the beasts. "This is too much. There are so many... What if they attack us?" she whispered to herself, clearly uneasy.
Seojun noticed her fear but didn't react. "Stay calm," he said simply. "Don't show fear. The beasts can sense it."
Yoora, still angry, scoffed. "Great. So we just walk in here like it's nothing? You expect us to just... tame them? I'm not stupid, Seojun. This place could be our end."
Seojun didn't respond right away. He simply moved forward, gesturing for them to follow. "You wanted to join this class. You'll learn how to handle them. We're starting slow."
The inside of the warehouse was huge and bright, much like a zoo but with a more industrial feel. The ceiling was high, and large, bright lights hung above, casting a strong glow over the entire place.
The floor was smooth concrete, and the walls were lined with metal fences and heavy-duty glass. Inside each fenced area, different creatures were kept in enclosures, some big, some small, but all were alive and moving around.
It was a kind of habitat for all kinds of beasts, each section carefully separated for safety. Some enclosures were open, with barriers low to the ground, while others had taller fences with thick glass to keep the more dangerous creatures contained. The air smelled of hay, straw, and something faintly animalistic, though the warehouse itself felt safe and secure.
Seojun led the students through the wide aisles, passing by various pens where beasts moved around. Some creatures looked calm, while others paced restlessly, showing their strength and energy. The walls were lined with different habitats, and in each section, the creatures seemed to adapt to their surroundings.
The first stop on their tour was the easiest beast to tame: slimes. The enclosure was filled with the small, gelatinous creatures that bounced lazily around in the bright light. Slimes came in various colors—green, blue, and yellow—each one slowly wobbling around, their semi-transparent bodies shimmering as they moved. They were harmless and could be handled easily with a little patience.
"Good thing, it's slimes" hannah breathe a sigh of relief.
But then, Seojun's tone shifted as he led the students past the slimes and deeper into the warehouse. His next lesson would be much harsher.
"Next," Seojun said, his voice steady but serious. "You need to know how to deal with more dangerous creatures."
He stopped in front of a large, reinforced cage. Inside was a beast unlike any the students had seen before. It was a mutant lion, but not just any lion. This one had scales on its back that glistened like armor.
Its eyes glowed a fierce orange, and its mane was wild, made of what seemed like jagged, metallic spikes. The creature's body was larger than any normal lion, its muscles bulging as it prowled back and forth.
"You'll observe this creature," Seojun said, his voice steady. "Take notes on what it looks like, how it moves, its behavior. I won't tell you what it is. You need to figure that out yourselves."
The students looked at each other, confused, but they took out their notebooks and started writing.
Yoora was frustrated. "What do you mean we have to figure it out ourselves? Isn't that your job?!" she snapped, glaring at Seojun.
Seojun didn't react. "You're here to learn," he said calmly. "You need to learn to do it on your own. Observe carefully."
"No way..."
Nathan slowly moved closer to him, frowning. He lowered his voice and said, "Let's talk for a moment."
Seojun glanced at him but didn't say anything. They turned around, moving away from the creature and out of earshot from the others.
Meanwhile, Hannah was standing beside Yoora, trying to calm her down. Yoora was clearly upset, grumbling as she scribbled angrily in her notebook. Elshienne was there too, offering a quiet word of comfort, trying to ease the tension. Yoora huffed, clearly still angry, but she listened to them.
Nathan looked at Seojun, his frown deepening. "What are you doing, Seojun?" he asked, his voice sharp with concern. "Why are you putting us so close to these dangerous creatures? Especially Elsienne. She can't handle this, and you're pushing us too hard."
Seojun glanced at Nathan, his expression unreadable. "They need to learn," Seojun said simply. "You don't grow stronger by staying comfortable."
Nathan didn't like what Seojun was saying. His eyes darted back to where Yoora and the others were standing, still a little shaken. He didn't want to see them in danger, especially not his sister.
"I get it," Nathan said, his voice still tense. "But there's a difference between learning and risking our lives. You have to think about what could happen if things go wrong."
Seojun paused, his gaze distant. "I'm always thinking about that. But the real world doesn't stop for your comfort. It doesn't wait until you're ready."
Seojun turned sharply toward Nathan, his expression cold and serious. His voice dropped to a level that was clear and firm. "In this academy, it's Professor Jihoon Nathan Keep that in mind."
Nathan flinched slightly at the coldness in Seojun's tone, his frustration growing. But he didn't respond, keeping his eyes on the ground for a moment before looking back up at Seojun.
Seojun didn't wait for a reply. He turned back to the rest of the class and motioned for them to continue. "Let's focus. The lesson is more important than any personal feelings."
