Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 612: Attack

"This doesn't make any sense… why would they attack from one side when they can attack from two?" Terra asked when they began to prepare to move.

"I can only think that they want to make the dungeons here receive more mana and make them break Sooner," Rain said. "Once that happens, they will be able to use their forces with all of their might. I don't think that this attack will be done with all their might." Find adventures at empire

"But we are still going, even though it isn't an all-out attack?" Seara asked.

"The enemies want to see us confused, we can't let their mind games get to us," Rain said. "If we let them control the flow of the battle, we will dance on the palm of their hands."

"So, we will strike fast and hard and push them away before the deaths affect the dungeons here?" Terra asked.

"That is the goal," Rain said.

It will be hard to pull that off, even more so if the enemies want to sacrifice the monsters no matter what. Trying to push them away will be a massive waste of time because they will end up dying in their territories and then their dungeons will produce more monsters and faster.

"Either way… it seems that they have nothing to lose…" Rain thought while squinting his eyes.

Although Rain could move all of his six hundred recruits in a massive ice platform, he decided to make them use their own strength and made them move toward the battlefield using the tunnels. Even if the enemies knew about their existence, they won't know where they will go and they can use that force in a pinch.

"You guys will lead them to Teria, I will meet you there after talking with Dad," Rain said and then passed his spear to Seara.

"Understood," Terra said.

Rain said bye to his wives and kids for now and then went further East to talk with his father. When he found them, he saw them training their own recruits while talking with a few warriors. It seemed that they picked the vice generals already, Rain thought that his sisters could fill that role for his father, but it seemed that they decided something else.

Rain frowned a little since Dana looked pretty chummy with a certain tall warrior, but he decided to act like that didn't happen.

At the same time, Rain said Gila and Kei talking with magic people that became refugees and were asking them to use their mana to produce potions for them. They didn't have to fight, but they had to at least do that.

"Hey, Rain," Roan said. "What are you doing here? Isn't the battle taking place in the other direction?"

"I just came to check on things here, and I also warn you since the attack of the enemies seems suspicious this time," Rain said. "The beast people could quickly move and cross the mountains if they realize that things in that direction start to take their time to develop."

"They tend to act best as lone warriors, so it makes sense," Roan said while nodding. "Still, we have countermeasures of our own, so you don't have to worry about it. It is useful to have three powerful magicians here, they are as good as three hundred warriors. I am looking forward to how Danny, Annie, and Sealyn will grow up at this rate."

"I'd prefer if they didn't have to fight… but if you are that confident, then I guess it will be fine," Rain said.

"Do you want to hear what we have in mind?" Roan asked.

"It will be better if you all surprise me later," Rain said. "Just don't take any chances."

"You too," Roan said after nodding.

Rain quickly flew to West since the magic people's army was moving fast and with the Draco soldiers, they could be attacking Teria already… even though it would take a day for the land troops to reach the city. Half a day, considering the time that Rain received the report.

It didn't take even two hours for Rain to reach the region and soon he confirmed his guess… they were truly there. Some of them were spitting fire on the buildings, others were colliding with them directly while covering their bodies with ice… they truly were copying Rain.

In the end, Rain stopped midair and once he got a clear view of them, he fired ice spears in their direction. Even without his spear… Rain still had his guards… the enemies were four kilometers away still were impalled by ice spears and died instantly… five of them died, but the others quickly retreated.

The soldiers left the area while zigzagging in the air to avoid the attacks further… their decision-making skills sure were something if they could do that so quickly. In any case, Rain flew to the city and put the fire out of the buildings and confirmed that there were still a bunch of people there… a lot of them wounded but not killed.

Those who couldn't fight either were in shelters or had left already.

After that, Rain went to the wall and saw his friends cleaning their weapons… on the other side of the wall, he could see a bunch of trolls there… they arrived too quickly and used that to launch an aerial attack.

"Hey, it seems that I arrived just in time for the party," Rain said when he found Jori, Reca, Asche, and Liss.

"... Sorry about that," Jori said and then sighed. "We figured out that the damage on the walls would be too much to ignore and the warriors still aren't ready for the battle."

"Why not? You guys had one week to prepare for all this?" Rain furrowed his eyebrows.

"Because of that…" Liss said and pointed to a miasma leaving the bodies of the trolls.
