Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 1410: The third

While Rain was looking around for the right mirror to enter, he saw his wives facing a monster in the shape of a dragonfly… the beast fired dozens of wind blades around to split the people around in half, but they were easily blocked by those two.

Without hesitation, Seara pointed her javelin at the target and then fired a powerful lightning bolt that shocked the monster in the air… in the next moment, smoke began to leave the monster's body.

Terra kicked the air a few times to reach the creature before punching its face; the attack shook the monster from head to toe before the blast actually made the head of the monster explode… they had gotten strong enough to face the first dragons… Rain could trust them to lead the others while he was away.

Before long, Rain touched one of the mirrors and then felt their surface liquid like water… he considered the possibility of the enemies trapping him in such a place, but in the end, he didn't have much of a choice but to check each one of them. If anything, Rain could always try to teleport back or destroy the space within somehow.

"Here goes nothing," Rain said after he tried to read the mirror, and the skills failed.

On the other side of the mirror, Rain found himself in a completely different place… it was dark, and it was surrounded by a brown metal that was oozing a weird purple miasma. Once more, Rain began to fall, but soon he stopped while using magic… it felt like he was inside some sort of giant tube-like structure, but the dragons and the dark sentinels were nowhere around.

When he approached the walls, Rain saw some smaller tubes that were haphazardly put…

"It looks like the machine gods aren't as perfectionist as I thought that they were…" Elisabetha said.

"Can you sense anything around?" Rain asked when he tried to look at the place he came from, but he only found a hard and solid wall.

"No, I don't think that we are close to the relic either," Elisabetha said.

"Great…" Rain said and then moved his hand backward.

In the next moment, a large amount of energy began to charge on Rain's fist… he was using the charged punch. It was the kind of skill that was very useful in situations like that. Without hesitation, Rain punched the wall that he had crossed to reach that place and then completely destroyed the wall, making it fly into the distance while the large tube shook all over.

On the other side, Rain found a metal city… the cities that he found in the enemy territory so far looked like perfectly clean and organized bases crafted by the machine gods, but that one didn't look like it had been made by them… it was dusty, and there were no signs of any organization in it.

It was also dark since the ceiling was a giant and apparently endless brown metal plate… the ground was also the same thing.

"Where the hell am I?" Rain furrowed his eyebrows. "I could understand the mirrors being used to enhance the power of a light attack, but I can't see why they would connect to this kind of place."

"Maybe the place is the reason why the mirrors work like that," Elisabetha said.

Although Elisabetha saw a bunch of dragons a couple of minutes ago, she still looked completely fine… that was weird, given that her aura changed a lot after absorbing the essence of the former dragon gods. Regardless, that wasn't that important now…

Rain tried to use Portal Conjuration to connect to where his friends were, and when one appeared, it was soon closed… the place forced the portal to close immediately… Rain could leave, but he decided to do that later.

After jumping away from the massive tube, Rain turned around while he was falling and confirmed that it reached the ceiling and probably went beyond that zone as well… it seemed to be the most important structure in the area since it had dimensions similar to the mana cannons, and that couldn't be a coincidence.

"I didn't expect that you would actually enter one of the mirrors… you are a lot more reckless than I thought that you were,"

When Rain landed in the abandoned city, he heard that voice… he raised his guard, but he didn't assume a fighting stance since he could tell that the enemy wasn't around, but he could only assume that it was a machine god.

"It isn't Arel… I guess she wouldn't like to see us after experiencing that kind of defeat before," Rain thought.

"She is working on something else, and apparently, she isn't interested in you guys at all. She is more interested in the dragon god."

Rain's thoughts were being read… that was troublesome. In any case, at least it looked like the machine god had a big mouth, and Rain could learn a bit; he just had to play his hands right. For starters, Rain cleared his mind and decided to trust his instincts when it comes to dealing with the machine god.

"Who are you?" Rain asked.

"What is the point of asking that? What can you do with that kind of information?"

"I guess I will refer you to it, then," Rain said. "Then, it. What do you want with me?"

"The real question is, what do you want with us? After seeing everything that you saw, do you all think that you have a chance against us?"

"A wise man once said that you don't know until you try," Rain said. "What can happen, will happen. No empire lasts forever, and blah, blah, blah. If you don't want to waste my time, it is better if you deal with me already. Do your worst. It"

"No, do your best to find me, or stay lost here until the end of your days."
