Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 1401: Goodbye

Isa went silent for a while… she didn't look like she had many things to say. She was just thankful that even in death, her father and the other dragons didn't let themselves be used by their real enemies.

"I don't have anything to say aside from asking you all to help us," Isa said. "The enemies are unbelievably ahead of us in all fields. We are obtaining a few victories here and there, but it doesn't feel like we are actually making any changes… We are still on the defense."

"I want to say that the problems of the current world belong to the current generation, but I suppose things aren't that simple," the former dragon god said. "If we can do something about this now… maybe we should help a bit. Still, things won't be that simple… you can find the spirits of the dragons that died from my time until this day.

You can obtain their cooperation, but for others further in the past, you will have to convince the other dragon gods. Believe me, if you want, but they are worse than me."

"I will try to be very persuasive," Rain said. "Anyway, how can you help us?"

"Raise your sword," The former dragon god said. "This is our final goodbye, Isa. While I thought that I would grow old and weak to let some tears fall in a moment like this for leaving you alone, I am satisfied that this won't happen. Even though you were different from the dragons, you found yourself some comrades that you can call friends.

Knowing that, I can finally rest in peace and hope that I will meet your mother soon."

"Too many melodramatic words," Isa said and then looked to the side after she crossed her arms. "I am three thousand years old, you don't have to treat me like a child. Anyway, hopefully, I won't join you guys too soon, but you can never know. Until then."

The former dragon god smiled with all his heads and then he suddenly transformed into the cloud and then was absorbed by the ominous sword. The weapons began to pulsate with energy.

The skill Roar of Command leveled up.

Level 50: Dragon's Aura - Develop a protective aura that weakens the effects of dragon breath and renders the practitioner more resilient against draconic attacks. All attack's damage and effects decrease by fifty points per level.

The skill Dragon's Aura leveled up.

Level 55: Dragon's Counter - Counter the elemental affinity of dragons by using their own element against them, redirecting or nullifying their breath attacks. When using the opposite element of the enemy dragon, the element will cause ten percent more damage multiplied by the level of this skill.

The skill Dragon's Counter leveled up.

Level 60: Dragonkin Bond Forge is a bond with dragonkin to gain their power. You can temporarily summon a wyrm dragon to assist you in battle. Their parameters will be equal to the level of this skill multiplied by one thousand.

The skill Dragonkin Bond leveled up.

Level 65: Dragon Essence Infusion - Imbue weapons or armor with the essence extracted from defeated dragons to enhance their capabilities against dragonkind. The more you kill dragons, the stronger you will get. All of your parameters will increase by fifty multiplied by the level of this skill.

Eventually, the weapon stopped glowing, but it was still emitting an aura of power… it looked like the ominous sword got even better at slaying dragons since it now had the power of a dragon god. At the same time, Rain got stronger and he obtained the knowledge that the dragon god had to help them.

"We can use the spirits of the dragons to enhance the weapons of everyone and make them obtain the dragon slayer path," Rain said. "Maybe you should keep the ominous sword now since it has his essence."

"It is fine, I don't like weapons anyway," Isa said. "Anyway, he isn't there, only the essence of his power, so it doesn't matter. Let's stop wasting time and then enhance everyone's weapons."

Isa looked a bit too calm, but Rain could tell that it was just her front… Regardless, there was no point in pressing things further.

The spirits were still in Rain's pocket dimension, and they followed his orders completely. While Isa didn't like weapons, she still had a curved short sword that was infused with one of the spirits, and soon she confirmed that she unlocked the path… for the other skills, she would have to kill some dragons or at least assist in their deaths.

When Rain passed the news to the others, they soon got static when they obtained that power… even at level one, the first skill already made them quite a bit stronger against dragons, and the bonuses of parameters weren't bad either.

Lv 01: Draconic Anatomy - Understand the physiology of dragons, discerning their weak points and vulnerabilities for more effective combat strategies. You can cause ten percent more damage per level against dragons.

Dragon Slayer's Path - All Parameter + 100

"You never stop surprising me, huh?" Terra asked after she unlocked her path.

"That was Isa's idea… I guess?" Rain furrowed his eyebrows. "She wanted to talk with her father to find a way to help us, and this is the result. I will check other areas of the world for more spirits of dragons, but… it is hard to imagine that I will find enough for more than two hundred thousand of us."

"Can you use them to improve your own dragon slayer path?"Sealyn asked.

"I can, but it will be inefficient," Rain said. "If everyone has one or two of those skills, it will be more convenient for me if I take them All myself. Besides, I can use the spirits of the dragon gods for that goal, so it will be fine."

It will probably be a challenge, but that will make things more worth it, so Rain didn't mind.
