Chapter 4: Risky? How so
The search had begun for everyone in the room as they spread themselves to their best efforts; at most, there were two people on one door and one on others.
They, one after the other, entered the room and returned either excited with the gift they had gotten and rushed back to Hetan, or they left to check other doors as they had no interest in what that door gave.
Yuka, on the other hand, had not entered a single door yet as he decided to go a distance from the others. Reaching the last person in the group he went a few doors after and stopped by a red door.
The door looked roughly painted and had no knob to use in opening it. He guessed it needed to be pushed open.
Placing his hand on the knob he attempted to push it open when the door automatically opened itself revealing the inwards of the room.
'Uhm, it looks empty.' Yuka wanted to enter the room, but as he took a step closer to the room, a red notification flew before him, and he heard a very loud alarming sound in his ears.
[Error]
[You are not compatible with that gift]
[Find another door]
'Another door?' Yuka, seeing this, stepped back from the door, and it shut itself just as it opened, but this time, it went with a hard slam as though someone was angry for Yuka changing his mind.
But Yuka did not bother. Instead, his thoughts dwelled around the fact of the system. He crowed his head and studied the other candidates as they entered doors, and most of them had not found interest in the doors they entered; this made him ask...
'Don't they have a system like mine, if not, why are they going into doors though being warned?'
He Investigated further, seeing the behaviours of these people, the movements of their eyes and their reaction; it was too calm.
'I guess I am the only one who possesses one then.'
Yuka came to that conclusion, walking to the next door and trying to enter. The same notification soared before him, warning him to quit his attempt to enter the door.
He immediately left to others and continued to try, but the same notification kept on coming which started to annoy Yuka.
"Are you friggin kidding me!" He finally yelled in exhaustion kicking at the air and falling to his bottom.
[Please find a suitable door]
'That's what I'm trying to do; you aren't being any help, are you?!'
He then looked at the number of people that remained, just a few people left. At this rate, he would be the last one to leave, or probably he might not leave for another hundred years and...
"Oh, so you have the same mindset."
The female voice crossed his ears urging him to turn around. Before Yuka was a girl, beautiful, almost his age, having long pink hair, a wonderful physique for a lady and wearing the white robe everyone was strapped in.
She spoke with a stern voice that commanded authority, "The doors at the earlier stage are simply child's play. The higher we go the more the doors get powerful offers by the slightest."
Yuka had not even had a thought towards that direction, all he was doing was to satisfy the system. 'But that makes sense; when I come to think of it, the number of people would be dwindled by the earlier doors, leaving the important doors further ahead, should that be the reason why the system doesn't want me to pick out a door yet.'
Yuka made up the most serious face he could, brooding a smile there to try and convince the lady who, too, had the same idea and not to sound like a fool.
"It's good not everyone is a certified idiot around here."
The lady had a smile forming on her face, "I'm Elsa."
Yuka climbed up to his feet and stretched his hand for a shake which she immediately took, "Yuka."
After this, the two did not speak a word to each other as they began to walk further down the infinite paths of doors.
The numbers ran forever, and just from looking at it, Yuka felt overwhelmed.
Now that he was with Elsa he decided not to check the doors as he had been doing previously. After all, recalling what Hetan said about the doors could call him. He believed if the door was for him it would call.
So he listened, not knowing how he would know if it were calling him as they passed by the doors.
Elsa, on the other hand, kept silent, studying Yuka with the side of her eyes and trying her best to conceal the fact that she was.
After hearing Yuka's question in their gathering and seeing the amount of confidence he was oozing out she had a vague idea he knew what he was doing.
And when she had seen him spacing from the group as the door selection started, that's when she understood that Yuka was someone who had experience with this place, wherever it was. She believed if she followed him, everything would turn out fine for her, and seeing how he was walking past the doors without checking a single one confidently she knew she had hit the jackpot.
The two had no idea that both of them relied on each other despite knowing nothing about the place.
A while, which felt like an hour of trek, passed by them, and each was starting to lose hope; Yuka now questioned if he should have opened the doors and checked through them all the way here. While Elsa questioned whether to have followed Yuka in the first place.
'What the hell am I even doing, maybe I should have—'
[Congratulations, you have successfully found the Deity gates]
As these notifications appeared, Yuka's footing came to a halt, and so did Elsa.
"What! This doors! Haaaa!" Elsa leapt out in joy as the doors to their side suddenly transformed Golden to their surprise, just several of them. As soon as she realized she had behaved out of character she quickly made back her composure and killed her zest into a single smile.
"Golden doors? Let's check this one out." Yuka was the first to approach a door at the side, but as he got considerably closer to it, a notification flew in.
[An aura is exhuming out of the door next to this]
Yuka stopped his actions and turned to the gold door after the one he was about to open. Just by sight, he had a connection to this door. And he could not explain the feeling.
He approached the door and placed his hand on it. The room opened up letting him free entry.
He went right through, and this time, his system had no complaints.
The room was none other than a few feet, a box-like apartment with nothing within, just a golden light that shone from the walls.
"State your name."
Yuka heard the thick, manly voice from the walls of the room and replied after considerable thought, "I'm Yuka Hikano."
"I see you are the one who received my system, good! As you know, the doors leading to each room are gifts from a deity; sole have decided to give little gifts, while others bless mightily, but I made an exception and a few others too, that is why there are golden doors and other colours. But you wouldn't be interested in the mechanics of this place are we?" A low chuckle exited from the walls.
'I have so many questions, but this is a deity here, I shouldn't trip him off.'
"I am Aetherion, the eternal Nexus, and with my rank as Deity, I have decided to reward you with the Boundless energy. But at the cost of a few risks, which I would mention to you now."
"Risks? You mean the flaws."
"Yes. One would never doubt my power. Secondly, it must not be misused, and lastly, Boundless energy is not a gift but preferably an eternity of choices, a burden which will get heavier."
The voice paused for a bit to see if Yuka was following and continued right after seeing he
"Now do you choose my ability?"
Kael was buried in his thoughts; it sounded like much, but hearing the gains and knowing how rare of a gift it was, he considered taking it.
'I hope I'm making the right choice here.'
Yuka raised his hand out a little, "As long as this ability grants me a lot of friends and peace in life, I would be excited to take this."
A gasp could be heard as the Deity was shocked by his demands. It took him a while to recover before a chuckle came over again.
"Nothing comes easy, does it? I can't promise you peace, but eventually, you will find both."
Yuka nodded with acceptance, "if that's the case, I accept."
