Infinite Mage [Remake]

Chapter 25: Clash of Spirit Zones

Amy shouted again.

"Get out of the Spirit Zone! If you keep this up, you'll never be able to use magic again! Do you really want to go insane?"

Shirone didn't hear her.

'It's just a Spirit Zone, and Anti-Magic too.'

Recalling Teacher Etella's lessons, he continued walking forward without stopping.

Jake finally furrowed his brows.

"Tch! He's holding on better than I expected."

As expected, was he a promising student whom even the teachers paid attention to?

"Doesn't matter, he's still a freshman!"

Driven by twisted inferiority and jealousy, Jake cast the strongest Anti-Magic he could.

"No!"

Just as Amy reached out and screamed, the members of the Black Magician Society frowned.

"W-What? He's still enduring this?"

Shirone's steps had stopped, but his Spirit Zone was becoming even more solid.

'I need… more frames.'

As he deployed a defensive cubic formation, a mental framework was established, and the zone's size rapidly shrank.

Then, the members of the Black Magician Society began to feel pain.

"Ugh… Urrrrgh!"

Anti-Magic was a mental seesaw.

While it was undoubtedly a spell that overwhelmingly favored the attacker, if the target endured, the effect could be reversed.

"W-What's happening? Why does it feel like this?"

The members were terrified.

It felt as if a massive boulder was pressing down on their minds, making them unbearably heavy.

At that moment, Shirone's eyes gleamed.

'More frames…'

The mental structures interwove perfectly, forming a cubic Spirit Zone.

"Aaaah! S-Save me! My head! My head hurts!"

Every single member of the Black Magician Society clutched their heads in agony, collapsing to the ground with nosebleeds.

Even half-conscious, they trembled, unable to shake off the shock.

"P-Please… spare me…"

Anti-Magic was like poison—it could just as easily destroy its user if they lacked near-inhuman mental fortitude.

This was precisely why Anti-Magic was banned at the academy.

"Unbelievable…"

Amy was in shock.

Shirone had single-handedly crushed an Anti-Magic attack cast by five people simultaneously.

'It feels like stepping on a tiny creature.'

That was the sensation Shirone experienced while deploying his cubic defense.

He could feel them squirming, but he was certain they would never escape.

As time passed, even their weak resistance faded. They had released their Anti-Magic.

Amy approached Shirone and observed his Spirit Zone with her own.

Her eyes widened.

"Wow."

If even Amy was amazed, there was no need to describe how shocked Jake must have been.

He was the only one still conscious, but as Shirone walked toward him, he scooted backward on his rear.

"H-Hiiiik! D-Don't come any closer!"

The moment their Spirit Zones made contact, an instinctual dread overwhelmed him—he absolutely did not want to touch it.

'No! This can't be happening!'

Jake didn't want to admit it, but his synesthetic senses gave him the undeniable truth.

Shirone's Spirit Zone was a cubic defense.

A seven-meter-wide cube composed of 88 interlocked planes was compressing the space around it.
