Infinite leveling in cultivation world

Chapter 20: Chapter 19:Rising Dragon Pattern

The deacon then gestured, dividing the group.

Those who had not yet cultivated were led away by a blue-robed disciple toward the Miscellaneous Hall, where they would receive a basic cultivation manual and begin the process of qi sensing.

Tian Jue stepped forward to follow them—but the deacon blocked his path with a faint smirk, his voice low and deliberate.

"You'll go with the outer disciples. You're well beyond qi sensing. You'll be issued robes, have your token registered, and your contribution record created."

Tian Jue nodded silently and followed the second group.

The Outer Disciple Area was situated fifteen hundred meters uphill, surrounded by stone fences, manicured gardens, and spiritual herb plots. As they ascended, the air thickened with spiritual energy, and the subtle pressure of the sect's formation weighed on their bodies.

They passed through training courts, scroll towers, weapon pavilions, and pill halls—each one radiating an aura of ancient legacy and immense power.

Eventually, they arrived at a jade-tiled plaza in front of the Outer Sect Hall, where a middle-aged cultivator greeted them with calm eyes and an aura as serene as flowing wind.

"I am Elder Lin," he said. "Welcome to the Shenxian Sect. From this moment forward, you are part of our lineage. Do not bring shame to it."

Tian Jue bowed with the others.

As disciples were issued their robes, one stood out—Tian Jue had not received his. Elder Lin raised an eyebrow and asked him to show his token.

When Tian Jue presented the silver dragon token, Elder Lin's eyes lit up with understanding. A moment later, a special robe was handed to him—identical in cut to the others, but bearing a distinct pattern of a rising dragon embroidered across the sleeves and chest.

"You will be registered as an outer disciple," Elder Lin announced, "but you may choose your cultivation manual from the Inner Sect Collection."

A stunned silence fell over the courtyard. Some disciples wore confused expressions, while others showed signs of open dissatisfaction.

One in particular—a youth with piercing golden eyes, furred ears, and a noble air—stepped forward. He was known as the White Tiger, a prodigy from the beastkin territory of Southern Dongfang Province. His displeasure was barely concealed.

Sensing tension, Elder Lin raised his voice.

"The arrangement is final. The evaluation has already been completed. In the past hundred years, only five disciples have worn the rising dragon pattern. Three have since become core disciples; the other two are now esteemed inner sect members."

Gasps spread through the gathered crowd. Shenxian Sect recruited from three provinces, yet only five had earned this mark in a century. The revelation quieted most complaints, though the White Tiger youth could barely hide his clenched fists.

Elder Lin turned to Tian Jue.

"Come with me. You'll choose your techniques at the Myriad Techniques Tower in the inner court."

They made their way through the sect grounds until they reached the gates of the Inner Court, where two guards stopped them. After checking Elder Lin's jade medallion and Tian Jue's silver dragon token, they stepped aside respectfully.

"Only true disciples reside here," Elder Lin said as they walked. "Upon reaching inner disciple status, you'll swear a Dao Oath never to betray the sect for any other force."

Tian Jue nodded solemnly.

He quickly noticed the difference—the qi here was five times denser than in the outer court. There must be powerful formation arrays maintaining this concentration.

Soon, they arrived at the Myriad Techniques Tower—an eight-story building surrounded by silver runes that shimmered in the sunlight.

"You may browse up to the third floor," Elder Lin explained. "Floors four through six are restricted to core disciples, and the seventh floor requires special permission from the elders."

Tian Jue entered the tower and began exploring. The first floor was disappointing—filled with basic techniques and crude methods. He quickly climbed to the second floor.

Here, he was intrigued by the diverse applications of qi—for offense, defense, and support. The martial techniques were versatile and clever, but the cultivation methods lacked refinement. The qi circulation routes were inefficient, and the meridian stabilization flawed.

This world has abundant qi to repair damage, he mused, but in my past life, these techniques would cause hidden injuries after every battle. No wonder their methods feel... primitive.

Unsatisfied, he proceeded to the third floor, and there—he struck gold.

One ancient scroll caught his eye: the Five Elements Scripture. Though the technique only reached the Golden Core realm and was clearly incomplete, its foundation was solid. He immediately thought of ways to merge it with his past life's cultivation path.

For body cultivation, he already had the Void Rending Bone Sutra, but a battered scroll in the corner drew his gaze. The title read:

"Star Refining Physique"

His heart skipped.

As he read, his eyes widened—the method closely resembled the Ancient God Sutra, a near-legendary technique for forging the body of a god.

If I can revise and integrate this… it might recreate the path of the ancient titans!

Suppressing his excitement, he selected a few martial techniques—fist, kicking, and throwing arts—then brought the scrolls to the tower elder.

The elder squinted when he saw the Five Elements Scripture.

"This one's incomplete," he muttered.

"I know," Tian Jue replied calmly.

The elder sighed and recorded the selections on a jade slip.

Tian Jue exited the tower, sunlight washing over him, scrolls in hand, heart racing with a renewed sense of purpose.

This… is only the beginning.
