Infinite Harem System: I Grow Stronger From Every Female Lead

Chapter 114: Splash (2)

'Did someone enter the water?' Arthur thought in his subconscious mind. 'No. No one I knew was around here.'

It was safe to say that he was done for; however, there was still the chance that everything would reset again.

But considering that he hadn't failed any scenarios, it wasn't a sure way out.

Before Arthur's mind disappeared into the abyss, he felt a warm body press against his as someone carried him out of the water.

The figure pulled him out with ease and dropped him on the dock. She slicked back her wet purple hair, her cold, lightless purple eyes fixed on the carriage that was now moving away.

"That woman..." She tilted her head slightly like someone possessed. "Should I go after her?"

She turned to the nearly lifeless body of Arthur. "No, husband comes first."

She bent over and placed her ear against his chest. "He's breathing."

As she raised her head, she shifted her focus from his chest to his lips. Her fingers traced a line over her own lips. "Should I?"

Her head lowered slowly toward his, and just as they were about to touch, Arthur jolted upright, accidentally hitting her forehead with a soft clank.

The young man winced, narrowing one eye briefly as his gaze focused on the woman. "Huh? What?"

The stunning young woman, dressed in an oversized T-shirt, held her forehead tightly. "Ouch...! Ouch...!"

Arthur's eyes widened in surprise. "Ellie?"

He glanced around as if searching for the carriage. "What are you doing here? And how am I still alive?"

Ellie, still holding her head with one hand, replied, "I just coincidentally came to this city and also coincidentally saw you fall from the bridge. So I saved you."

"Oh, I see," Arthur replied, looking around to confirm he was still alive.

Ellie's gaze lingered on him. "Are you sure you're okay?"

Arthur finally turned his attention to Ellie. "Wait...?" He asked, confused. "We don't know each other that well, so why did you save me? It isn't like we can use energy here."

Ellie looked away, her cheeks turning red. "Well, take a guess."

Arthur gasped. "You're stalking me?"

Ellie smacked him lightly on the head with her fist. "Idiot."

Arthur chuckled a little, but it soon turned into coughing. "Sorry." He took a breath. "So how did you get your memories?"

Ellie opened her mouth to answer but suddenly snapped, "Arthur, that's not what's important right now. Who was that person you were talking to? Are you involving yourself in generation battles?"

Arthur stared at her, then looked away, causing Ellie's head to tilt slightly.

"What's wrong?" she asked softly.

Arthur pointed at her wet shirt. "Uhmm... Your shirt... I can see everything."

Ellie's face turned completely red. "You—You pervert! What... What are you looking at!"

Arthur tried his best to clear up the misunderstanding. "I didn't mean to look, it was right in front of me. And aren't I your husband, though?"

Ellie hugged herself, her eyes glistening. "Even still... You shouldn't do pervy acts. That means you have to take responsibility for what's now inside me."

"Hey, don't say it like you're pregnant."

Ellie put on the cutest expression she could, which almost worked on Arthur. "Leave all your other wives and marry only me, then I won't tell the world I carry your baby."

Arthur's eyes twitched. "Isn't that going a bit too far?"

Ellie pouted. "Humph... Considering that unlike before, this time no one knows we are engaged, it is the right amount of compensation."

Arthur nodded. "Then I will have to give you a real baby."

Ellie shrieked and laughed awkwardly. "Ha... haha, I was just joking."

Arthur smiled. 'At least I didn't die,' he thought, his eyes narrowing. 'But what should I do now?'

Ellie stared at Arthur for a moment. "Husband, if you have nowhere to go, we can stay at Senior Isabella's place."

Arthur blinked. "Isabella's here?"

She nodded. "Yeah, but for some odd reason, she seems to be unhappy with you."

He pointed at himself. "Me? What did I do?"

Ellie stood and extended a hand. "It will be better for her to tell you."

Arthur grabbed her arm as she pulled him up.

They both stood for a moment before she spoke. "Husband, I'm mad, you know that, right?" Her tone was cold yet gentle. "Why didn't you come for me first? Do you like the other girls more than me?"

She tugged on his shirt. "Art, whose memories were you going to revive after this? Let me guess... Senior Isabella."

Arthur swallowed hard. 'I knew she was showing signs of being a yandere before the reset... But this—' he forced out a crooked smile. 'This is way worse than Nathira.'

"Of course not, Ellie. I wanted to revive your memories first, but you know, stuff happened."

Ellie let out a gentle smile. "I'm happy I'm always first in your heart and will continue being first."

Arthur nodded. "Yes, you're my favourite and most loving wife."

Ellie stepped forward and pulled him by the arm. "Why don't we go see Senior Isabella before we catch a fever."

The journey to Isabella's place was quiet since neither of them particularly wanted to speak.

Ellie just wanted to feel the warmth of his back as they used the horse to move through the city, while Arthur was trying to get his thoughts in order.

Rachel Springsteen.

The strange woman couldn't exactly be called evil since, through her own eyes, the world was wicked, and she just wanted them to feel what she did.

But that didn't justify the things she had done.

Even if it did, Arthur couldn't see it that way, not as long as it hurt him.

Laws and justice were meant to be bent and changed from a person's point of view.

And to him, anything that hurt those close to him was against the law and against justice.

But if he wanted to save Cassie, he needed power — not just the fighting kind but the monetary kind.

And according to what Ellie had told him, Isabella was ready to use her money to help them, which meant she had unlocked the potential of [Large Deposit].

But why now? What exactly had he done to her? Why was she mad?

He didn't know the answer; however, what he did know was that whatever the reason was would explain the mystery of what had been haunting him.

Why did the Gold Digger not help Arthur Arcain in the game even though he was her master and her life and existence were tied to him?

And why was her existence even tied to him in the first place?

Arthur made a swift right turn with the white horse and stopped in front of a large premium building.

"Is this the place?"

Ellie got down from the horse. "Yeah." She paused for a moment. "The Gold Diggers Holy City's branch."
