Chapter 105: The Goddess's Virginity (1)
Ding!
The soft chime of the café rang as Arthur stepped inside, his eyes scanning the room to locate Amelia.
As soon as he spotted her, he walked over to the table near the window.
"I'm not late, am I?"
Amelia didn't even notice him at first, her attention fixed on Cassie, who was speaking to her.
"Oh, you're back."
Arthur raised an eyebrow. "What are you two talking about so seriously?"
Cassie placed the straw of her drink in her mouth as if to signal him not to ask.
He paused, then nodded. "Okay, I won't ask."
Amelia smiled. "Thanks."
Arthur sighed. "So, Cassie, are you planning to head straight to the Higher Institution after this?"
Cassie glanced up at him. After a moment, she lowered her gaze back to the cup. "No..." she murmured. "I want to see the world too."
"So you're willingly throwing away the chance to do absolutely nothing?" He nodded. "Never thought I'd hear that in my life."
Cassie's face turned red for a reason Arthur couldn't grasp.
He looked over at Amelia, whose face was also flushed, then back at Cassie.
'Is there something I'm missing?' he thought, genuinely puzzled. 'Or have I gone completely dense?'
Cassie glanced at him one last time and stood up abruptly. "See you later."
Amelia followed suit and dashed out. "See you tomorrow."
Arthur watched them both leave. Before he could even fully process it, someone slid into the seat Cassie had been sitting in, right across from him.
The stranger was dressed head to toe in concealing clothes, a baseball cap and sunglasses obscuring their face.
Covering her mouth with the scarf around her neck, the figure spoke. "The name's James Bond."
"What?" Arthur muttered.
The stranger chuckled, then pulled off the cap and glasses as flowing blonde hair tumbled over her shoulder, and pale blue eyes gleamed behind the sunglasses.
She grinned, raising her fingers like a toy gun. "Bam. You're dead."
Behind the disguise was Sylvia, beaming with mischief.
She slipped him a piece of paper like some kind of undercover agent. "Hey husband, want some sugar?"
Arthur stared at her blankly. "What the hell are you doing in my school?"
Sylvia clutched her cheeks like she was about to cry. "Can't you at least hug me and say, 'I missed you, baby. Kiss kiss.'"
"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."
Sylvia raised her hand in a mock toast. "Nice one, babe."
Arthur chuckled softly. "Okay, but seriously, what are you doing here? How did you even get in?"
Sylvia quickly gave him the rundown of how she got into the academy.
At first, she tried several times but failed, until today, when for some strange reason the gate opened on its own and let her in.
Arthur pinched the bridge of his nose. "Should've told Lysandra not to let you through."
Sylvia's eyes watered. "Husband, what did I do wrong? Did you find someone you love more than me?"
Arthur looked her in the eyes. "I have eight wives."
Sylvia clicked her tongue. "At least pretend to be romantic."
"Well, for my stupid-ass goddess wife, I don't think romance is that important."
Sylvia smiled warmly. "I heard you're going on a mission tomorrow."
Arthur nodded just as the waiter brought the ramen he ordered.
Sylvia leaned on one arm, watching him as he broke the chopsticks, blew on his hot noodles, and took a full bite — which, for some reason, made him look really attractive.
Arthur coughed a little as he swallowed, then stretched the chopsticks toward her. "Want some?"
She stared at both him and the chopsticks. "Cute."
Arthur's face turned bright red. "What the hell was that?"
Sylvia leaned closer and whispered this time. "You're really cute."
The young man lowered his gaze, doing his best to keep his composure.
The man who'd just acted like a merciless god a few moments ago was now at the mercy of a woman.
Arthur cleared his throat. "Thanks."
He quickly dipped his chopsticks back into the bowl for another bite, only for Sylvia to swoop in and snatch it first.
She covered her pink lips as she chewed. "It's good."
"Why did you steal my food?"
Sylvia widened her eyes in mock surprise, which quickly turned into real shock when Arthur suddenly shouted:
"This beautiful lady from the Higher Institution said she'd pay for everyone, so eat your fill!"
The room went silent for a heartbeat before exploding into cheers.
Sylvia's confused expression was enough to satisfy Arthur's soul completely.
"What? Why?"
Arthur grinned, mimicking her earlier pose. "Cute."
Her face turned crimson. "Idiot~"
...
The rest of the day flew by, and Sylvia ended up paying for everything every student ate.
"Now I'm broke..." she sobbed as the two of them walked through the academy's dimly lit streets.
Arthur chuckled. "Hope the bite was worth it?"
She pouted. "Humph..."
Arthur slid his arm around her waist and pulled her close as they walked.
Sylvia tensed for a moment, then relaxed almost immediately. "This is public, you know?"
Arthur nodded. "And I'm walking with a princess."
Sylvia's breathing turned uneven. "You're a pervert. Let me go or I'll scream."
Arthur's grip tightened slightly. "But I'm your husband, aren't I?"
She lowered her gaze. "Still, I don't want to end up like Nathira, who was acting like an animal."
"Are you sure?" he asked with a smirk. "Aren't you curious?"
Her face turned completely red, but she still nodded. "A little..."
Arthur's breathing grew shallow. "Want to go to my dorm room?"
Sylvia fiddled with her fingers, unsure of what to say.
'I can't...' she panicked internally. 'If I say yes, I'll look like a pervert just like him.'
She looked up at Arthur, then, standing on the tips of her toes, she kissed him on the lips.
"Uhmm..." she stammered. "Well... that's my answer."
Arthur stood frozen for a second, his heartbeat steady yet heavy.
He gently cupped her cheeks, lowered his head slightly, and began kissing her.
Sylvia gripped his shoulder tightly as she kissed him back.
As soon as he pulled out he said:
"I don't think I can be a gentleman today."
Sylvia grinned. "Have you ever been one?"
