Chapter 15: Chapter 15
Lin Cheng looked at Mitsuri Kanroji, who was watching him with great expectation, smiled slightly and said:
"Compared to learning theoretical knowledge, learning martial arts is obviously more expensive. Therefore, we can raise our tuition fees a little"
"That should ease our financial crisis" Lin Cheng continued, nodding with satisfaction.
He even thought about charging for lunches, offering supposed "professional fitness ingredients" at the martial arts school. Perhaps with that, both he and Mitsuri Kanroji could eat better. However, considering Mitsuri's naive and kind heart, he decided not to tell her about his more pragmatic intentions.
Of course, Lin Cheng didn't think he was fooling anyone. In the world of martial arts, progress depended as much on constant training as it did on good nutrition. Without proper nutrition, no matter how much one practiced, one would never reach one's full potential.
He had tested that philosophy first hand. The "Yujiro Hanma Template" reward he received the day before included recipes for medicinal foods such as Shi Quan Da Bu decoction, which strengthened his resolve to open a martial arts gym.
"Well, it's time to get back to training," said Lin Cheng, watching Mitsuri finish his lunch. - Come on, Mitsuri, finish that snack! The second half of training awaits you.
"Understood, Master Lin Cheng!" Mitsuri replied energetically as he cleaned up his personalized lunch box and got ready to train again.
Mitsuri's natural physical ability was exceptional, which made Lin Cheng very curious to see how far she could go under his strict guidance.
A month later, the martial arts gym was ready. Its name was chosen simply and straightforwardly, combining characters from Lin Cheng's and Mitsuri Kanroji's names. The Seiji Martial Arts School opened without any big announcements or celebrations.
Lin Cheng organized his routine efficiently: in the morning he completed his daily chores, taught the students and, in the afternoon, trained together with Mitsuri in the gymnasium. However, days passed without anyone signing up, which began to worry Mitsuri.
"Master Lin Cheng, will no one sign up? Is our price too high? Maybe we should lower it" suggested Mitsuri, with a mixture of sadness and uncertainty.
Lin Cheng, calmer, replied:
"It's normal. Sakura Martial Arts School has a solid reputation and dominates this small market. We are new. Reducing the price is not an option; we must be patient".
Lin Cheng had two strategies in mind to overcome the Fujimoto School's dominance: one radical, to defeat its masters in combat and reclaim its clientele; the other, more conservative, to rely on word of mouth and the effectiveness of its methods.
Patience paid off. Within a month of opening, the gym welcomed its first student: Takashi Nagase, a twelve-year-old boy bullied by students from the Fujimoto School. Although his physical abilities were not extraordinary, his family could afford the tuition and medicinal diets.
"Very good, Takashi Nagase" said Lin Cheng, smiling".
"From now on, I will be your teacher. Come punctually at one o'clock in the afternoon and I will teach you the principles of Chinese martial arts from ancient lands".
Over time, Takashi Nagase showed remarkable changes. His spirit shone and his confidence grew, attracting the attention of other families. Gradually, the Seiji School gained more students. Although they were few, the income from tuition and medicinal diets balanced the finances.
Mitsuri's joy increased every day. She and Lin Cheng even celebrated their engagement, setting their wedding date for Mitsuri's birthday three months later.
-----------------------------------------------------
One day, while Lin Cheng was training, Mitsuri came running into the gym with an alarmed face.
"Master Lin Cheng, Takashi Nagase got into a fight with students and teachers from Fujimoto School! Now they are coming here looking for explanations".
Lin Cheng listened to the details. Takashi Nagase, provoked during his vacation, had defeated several opponents before being overpowered by Fujimoto School teachers. Now they were in front of Seiji School, demanding explanations.
"Interesting" Lin Cheng muttered, wiping his sweat.
"Let's see what they want"
At the entrance, the Fujimoto School teachers were surrounded by a crowd of onlookers. Takashi Nagase, bruised but defiant, lay on the ground. Lin Cheng stepped forward calmly, ready to face the situation.
"Master Lin Cheng, have we gone too far?" Asked one of those present.
Lin Cheng smiled.
"Five against one. Takashi Nagase came out on top. This is just the beginning".
With those words, Lin Cheng prepared to resolve the conflict, proving that the Seiji School would not be easily intimidated.
-----------------------------------------------
I changed the name of the dojo to Seijin, I saw it understandable, because in the translation it is with another name, and I guess it is from the Chinese character, so I joined the last two characters; Cheng, Kanroji. Making Seijin to be born. This is according to what I researched and what I got after searching the real meaning of the two characters.
Now I remember why I stopped translating this Chinese fanfic. The crude is terribly wrong, you can't understand almost the whole story. They change words that are not according to the scenario, making the immersion not happen, for example; Mathew was on his way home, he had to cross the track, and as he was in a hurry, he didn't see a dinosaur passing by at full speed, the dinosaur ran over him, leaving Mathew agonizing because of the small cut he suffered on his finger.
That's what I mean, terrible... translating this thing takes me 20 to 30 minutes, on the other hand, the fanfics I'm working on, which are actually two (overlord and Fate) original fanfics that I'm writing in my spare time, only take me an hour to do a chapter. Sometimes longer because I'm correcting and looking for information about the facts of the story and the personalities of the characters in those stories.
