Chapter 9: Chapter 9

"Who wants to spar with me?!"

"Caesar?"

"N-No, not me! I just exhausted all my energy—I can barely stand. Don't even think about it!"

Caesar waved his hands furiously, shaking his head in a double rejection as he avoided eye contact with Kei, who still radiated battle fervor.

"Then Joseph, you're up."

"I can't! I got injured just now! I need rest, I need to recover!"

Joseph's head shook back and forth so fast it nearly made a rattling sound.

Kei was still bursting with excitement—he wanted to test the power of his newly awakened Stand. Unfortunately, after looking around, only Lisa Lisa remained.

After a brief moment of consideration, Kei reluctantly abandoned the tempting idea of challenging Lisa Lisa.

"The battle is over, even though we barely did anything."

"But the Pillar Men have been wiped out, and the world is safe. Now, all that's left is to destroy every Stone Mask out there."

Lisa Lisa spoke confidently, already making plans for what came next.

She had made up her mind—once this was over, she'd take Kei on a world tour to help him relax. He needed a break.

[Final objective completed. Simulation ending. Return commencing in five minutes.]

Just as Lisa Lisa finished her victory speech, Kei suddenly received the notification.

He glanced at Lisa Lisa, who was still talking, and interrupted, "I have something to tell you all."

"First, I'm leaving. My current strength has reached its peak on this island, and I need to move on to further my growth."

"I appreciate everything, Lisa Lisa. Thank you for taking care of me. And thank you, Caesar and Joseph, for being my training partners."

"If fate allows, we'll meet again."

Kei's words left everyone stunned. But after a brief moment of thought, they realized it made sense.

"It's good for you to go out and see the world. But do you really have to leave right now? Can't you wait a few days?"

"I could arrange a farewell banquet for you and prepare supplies for your journey."

Lisa Lisa spoke with concern.

"No need. Whether I leave now or later, the feeling will be the same. Dragging it out would just make it harder."

"Besides, we might see each other again someday."

With that, Kei turned and walked into the ocean.

The others watched as his figure became smaller and smaller—until he vanished completely.

"I knew this day would come eventually, but I didn't expect it to be so soon."

Lisa Lisa felt a pang of sorrow, her eyes slightly misty. It felt like just yesterday that Kei was still a child, barely able to speak.

And now, he had grown into a warrior.

"Wait… he never told us where he was going. Or how to contact him. Not even a phone number!"

Joseph suddenly realized a crucial detail.

"..."

"He never really used the phone. I always handled calls for him. Maybe he never even thought about it."

After a long silence, Lisa Lisa finally spoke.

"Is he a caveman?! If we don't have a way to reach him, how are we supposed to find him?! And wait—does he even know our home's phone number?!"

"I don't think he does."

"Then we're screwed! If he gets lost and can't find his way back, we'll never see him again!"

As ridiculous as it sounded, all three of them genuinely believed Kei was capable of wandering off without a clue how to return.

Panicked, they rushed off to search for him.

But no matter how hard they looked, Kei was nowhere to be found.

...

Meanwhile, in Jotaro's world—

Jotaro had just met his grandfather, who had come to bail him out of jail.

"The modern world is truly convenient. Even across countries, you can contact someone instantly with a tiny phone."

A tall, blonde British gentleman stepped out of the prison, his voice tinged with nostalgia.

Then, as if struck by a memory, he let out a sigh.

"If only we had phones back then, he wouldn't have just disappeared. It's been so many years..."

Joseph muttered, lost in thought.

"Uncle Caesar, Dad, you're bringing up that story again?"

"Sorry, sorry. When you get old, you start reminiscing a lot."

"Gramps, who are you talking about?"

Jotaro asked curiously.

"Hahahaha!"

Caesar and Joseph exchanged glances before bursting into laughter.

"He was a monster of a man, stronger than anything you could imagine."

"But the scariest thing wasn't his strength—it was his sheer willpower. I once saw him go three days and nights without sleep, still bursting with energy."

"How do you know he didn't sleep? Maybe he just slipped away when you weren't looking."

"Impossible. I didn't sleep for three days and nights either—I watched him the entire time. I even kept my eyes locked on his blinking patterns!"

"..."

"Gramps, you had way too much free time."

Jotaro deadpanned. "But after all these years, if you still haven't found him, isn't he… you know, dead?"

"Impossible. That guy wouldn't die so easily. He had an unbreakable vitality. No matter where he was, he'd survive."

"He's probably off training in some remote corner of the world."

Joseph declared with confidence.

"I just hope I get to see him again before I die."

Caesar muttered wistfully.

At that moment—

Kei had already returned to the Toriko universe and was met with a new notification.

[Congratulations, Host, on completing your first training simulation. Reward: Gourmet Cells. Would you like to claim them?]

...

Joseph Joestar, 79 years old.

Now suffering from dementia, he needed help just to walk. His own son called him a burden.

His once-signature phrase, "Your next line is...", had turned into "What did you just say?"

At 18, he was full of life, surrounded by friends, mentors, and family.

At 68, he still had his closest companions.

At 79, only memories remained.

People called him the JoJo who lived the longest but lost the most.

His legendary past was forgotten—left only as a sorrowful tale.

Perhaps, on a certain summer day, under the warm rays of the sun…

He might, for a fleeting moment, return to his youthful days.

And once again, he would see that golden-haired boy, blowing bubbles in the wind.

The boy who defied the gods—yet, in the end, still lost to time.
