Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Leaving Shells Town

In a house in the city, Luffy, Zoro, Oliver, and Koby were gathered, talking about different things while eating.

"I'm full! I hadn't eaten in nine days, I almost died of hunger!!"

Zoro finished eating a large amount of food, just like Luffy, while Oliver thought about how much money must have been spent on so much food.

"And you thought you could last a month!" Luffy said, with a piece of food in his mouth.

"Better not talk! How is it possible that you eat more than me?!" Zoro asked.

"I'm worried about how much money we'll spend on food," Oliver said. "I even feel bad taking advantage of this kind lady."

"It's okay. You saved this city!" the lady thanked them.

"By the way, what are your plans now?" Zoro asked.

"I'm heading to the Grand Line!" Luffy told him.

"What?! You're saying nonsense again! It's just the two of you! You won't last at all! Don't you get it? The strongest pirates in the world are there!" Koby shouted upon hearing Luffy's goal.

"We're going for the One Piece? Sounds good to me," Zoro said.

"It'll be an exciting journey. I wonder what the legendary treasure looks like," Oliver said.

"STOP ENCOURAGING HIM!!" Koby shouted again.

"What do you care? It's not like you're coming with us," Zoro told him.

"W-Well, it's because I care. Is that bad? Can't I do that?" Koby asked.

"You're quite strange," Oliver told him. "Someone who wants to be a Marine worrying about pirates."

"Well, that's because we're friends, right?" Koby said.

"Yeah! Even if we part ways, we'll always be friends," Luffy said with a smile.

"I never had friends. Every time I got into trouble, no one ever stood up for me," Koby said. "But with you guys, I've learned to live for my dream."

"That's exactly why we're going to the Grand Line," Luffy said.

"Of course," Zoro said.

Koby started shouting again, saying they couldn't do it and that it was crazy. In contrast, Zoro warned him that if he wanted to be a Marine, he would have to be careful, as they might find out he was once on a pirate ship.

At that moment, several Marines arrived at the house where they were staying.

"Excuse us!" a Marine said as he entered. "We were wondering, are you really pirates?"

"Yes. I have two Nakama, so that makes us pirates," Luffy said proudly.

"Even though you are pirates, you saved our city, and we are grateful. But since you are pirates, as Marines, we cannot allow you to stay here," the Marine said. "Please, leave immediately. We will explain what happened to Marine Headquarters."

The townspeople began complaining about how they could do this to the city's saviors, but the Marines didn't care.

"Well then, let's go! Thanks for the food," Luffy thanked them.

The three of them got up from the table to leave the house, but before they could go, they heard the Marine ask Koby if he was with them, to which he replied no.

"Wait, you three. Is he telling the truth?" the Marine asked.

Luffy remained silent for a few seconds.

"Let me explain. I know him," Luffy said, catching Koby's and the Marine's attention.

"Luffy-san?!" Koby said nervously.

"I can't remember where, but he used to be with that super fat pirate," Luffy said, raising his arms in a U-shape to imitate Alvida's round body. "And I think her name was Alvida."

'Stop… If they find out I was a cabin boy on a pirate ship, they won't let me join the Marines,' Koby thought worriedly. "Stop. Don't say anymore."

Luffy walked up to Koby and started tapping his head with his finger.

"She was a fat and ugly pirate, and this guy spent two years with her," Luffy said.

"SHUT UP!!"

Koby punched Luffy straight in the face, surprising the Marines. However, Luffy, Oliver, and Zoro all smiled.

"You idiot!" Luffy yelled with a grin, returning the punch.

Luffy started hitting Koby multiple times, shocking the Marine.

"Enough! I won't allow more fights in this city!" the Marine shouted.

Zoro walked over to Luffy and stopped his beating.

"Hey, you've gone too far. Leave him alone," Zoro said, grabbing Luffy by the collar of his vest while Koby fell to the ground, missing a tooth from the beating Luffy gave him.

"It's clear he's not their friend! Please, leave this city immediately!" the Marine said angrily, making the three of them leave.

As they left, Koby realized what had happened.

'He did it on purpose! For me?! He did it on purpose so that I would hit him…! Again…! Even in the end, I had to rely on them! I haven't changed at all! I'm…! Am I useless…?! If I don't do something, I really am useless!' Koby thought.

Koby quickly got up and bowed.

"Please, let me enlist in the Marines! I'll do errands or whatever it takes with pleasure!" Koby said, prepared and motivated.

"Lieutenant! I object! I still don't trust this kid. He could be a spy for the pirates. We need to investigate his background first," one of the Marines said, making Koby hesitate for a moment.

"I AM NOT A PIRATE! I WILL BECOME A MARINE OFFICER!" Koby shouted with great conviction.

"We have lost many comrades to pirates. Don't underestimate the Marines. I grant you permission to enlist!" the Marine Lieutenant said with a small smile, bringing joy to Koby.

"Yes, sir! Thank you very much, sir!" Koby said, giving a military salute.

Meanwhile, the others had reached the dock, where they were about to board the ship they had arrived on.

"That was a terrible performance. I wouldn't be surprised if they figured it all out," Zoro said with a grin.

"I'm sure Koby will manage," Luffy said.

"Or maybe the Marines are just stupid and believed it," Oliver said.

"Well, this is a good way to set sail. Everyone hates us, and there's no turning back… Typical of a pirate!"

They all laughed as they prepared to depart when they heard a shout. Looking back, they saw Koby running to catch them before they left.

"THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!! I WILL NEVER FORGET THE GREAT DEBT I OWE YOU!" Koby shouted, giving them a military salute.

"I've never seen a Marine salute a pirate before," Zoro said.

"There's a first time for everything," Oliver said.

"We'll see you again, Koby!" Luffy said with a smile.

"I wish you luck! I hope that when we meet again, you're already a strong Marine!" Oliver said.

They boarded the boat and set sail.

"MEN! SALUTE!"

The Lieutenant ordered, making all the Marines salute as they bid farewell to the pirates, and Luffy waved back at them.

"Yahoo! We're off! Grand Line, here we come!" Luffy shouted, completely excited.

'Now it's time to go after Nami… How many days did it take to reach Orange Town?'

Oliver, while thinking, started checking the food supply, wondering how long it would last with two monsters on board.

"I hope we make it to the next island," Oliver said.

"Are you excited about the adventure too?" Luffy asked.

"It's not that. I was thinking we don't have enough supplies for such a long trip," Oliver said. 'And the next island is Orange Town.'

And with that thought, they set course for the next island.
