Chapter 15: Chapter 13: Victory
Buggy managed to free himself from Luffy and stand up.
"Since I was born, no one has bothered me as much as him," said Buggy, remembering Shanks. "That bastard stole my most precious treasure! I'll never forgive him!"
He began to recount his story of how he always fought with Shanks until one day, while battling a rival pirate crew, he found a treasure map.
Later, while talking with Shanks, he learned that they had found a Devil Fruit and that the captain said whoever wanted it had to eat it. But knowing how much a Devil Fruit was worth, he decided to keep it and sell it.
He had planned to switch it out and eat a fake one to sell the real fruit and get the money. However, things didn't go as planned. Just as he was about to leave the ship with the treasure map and the Devil Fruit, due to Shanks, he ended up eating the fruit by mistake and lost the map, falling into the sea and nearly drowning—only to be saved by Shanks.
"I swallowed 100 million Belly and won't be able to swim for the rest of my life! Because of him, I can no longer get treasures from the bottom of the sea," Buggy said, resenting Shanks.
"So, Shanks saved your life," said Luffy, happy to hear more about his Shanks.
"THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!! BECAUSE OF HIM, MY PLANS WERE DELAYED BY TEN YEARS!! AND SINCE I CAN'T SWIM, I'LL TAKE EVERY TREASURE ON LAND USING THE POWERS OF THE BARA BARA NO MI!! And anyone who dares to touch my treasures..." Buggy said, looking at Nami, who was stealing his loot. "WILL DIE!!!"
Buggy lunged at Nami while floating.
"Oh no, he saw me!" said Nami, terrified.
"Did you think I wouldn't notice?! I'll tear you to pieces!" shouted Buggy.
At that moment, a long-armed man was sent flying out of a house, crashing into Buggy and sending both of them into a building.
"Huh?"
Luffy looked in the direction the long-armed man had come from and saw Oliver, now wearing a new outfit.
"Hey," Oliver greeted Luffy.
"Oliver! Are you okay?" Luffy asked.
"Yeah, it was kinda weird, but I got some new clothes," Oliver replied. "Is he still conscious?"
"I think so," Luffy said, watching Buggy push the long-armed man off himself.
Nami sighed in relief that Buggy hadn't reached her.
"Nami! Drop the treasures and get out of here! If you don't, he'll keep chasing you!" Luffy told her.
"Drop the treasures? No way! Why would I leave MY treasures?" Nami retorted.
"Your treasures?" Buggy had gotten up and was staring at Nami.
"That's right! I'm a professional thief! The treasures I steal from pirates are mine!" Nami declared.
"Oh, makes sense," Luffy said.
"WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! Even if you steal my treasures, they're still mine! They'd never be yours!! Where do you get these ideas?!" Buggy shouted.
"Oh, of course, the evil giving lessons to good. Those treasures weren't yours to begin with, either!" Nami shot back. "I would never stoop so low as to let a pirate scold me."
"You're pissing me off! Bara Bara Festival!"
Buggy split every part of his body, surrounding Nami and preventing her from escaping.
"Ha ha ha! You can't save her, rubber boy!" Buggy taunted.
"Damn it! He's completely split apart. I can't fight him like this!" Luffy said.
Oliver noticed one of Buggy's body parts, and using Electro, he jumped and struck it, making Buggy scream in pain.
"Alright, his pain isn't spread across his parts," Oliver noted after seeing Buggy's reaction. "Luffy, I'll protect Nami, and you handle Buggy."
Despite the pain, Buggy kept chasing Nami, so Oliver rushed in to defend her while Luffy eyed Buggy's feet and got an idea.
Nami ran as Buggy pursued her, while Luffy repeatedly struck Buggy's feet, making him suffer.
Oliver reached Nami and Buggy, attempting to punch him, but he failed to dodge in time.
Luffy kept attacking Buggy's feet, making him scream even more.
"STOP HITTING ME!!" Buggy yelled at Luffy.
Oliver took the chance and, electrifying his coat, managed to land a hit on Buggy's face, momentarily paralyzing him.
"Luffy!!" Oliver shouted.
Seeing the opportunity, Luffy stretched his arms back.
"Gomu Gomu no... Bazooka!"
His fists snapped forward, landing a direct hit on Buggy and sending him flying.

'If I fought Luffy, I'm sure I wouldn't be able to defeat him,' Oliver thought.
Oliver walked over to the long-armed man, realizing this was the first real difference he had seen in the world of One Piece.
'If there's a difference here, how many more will there be? Will the Straw Hats' enemies have more members? Will they gain more crewmates? Will they gain fewer crewmates?' Oliver gave the man a small kick. 'I need to get stronger and be ready to counter any variable.'
"Awesome! I got the Grand Line map!" Luffy cheered. "That means you're officially my navigator!"
"I'm just helping out, alright? Sticking around with you guys might make me a lot of money," Nami said, carrying Buggy's treasure in a bag. "Buggy had tons of loot! My dream of getting 100 million Belly is coming true!"
Nami happily hugged her treasure bag.
"I'm going to split the treasure into two sacks so you can help me carry it. It's too heavy," Nami said.
Luffy grabbed his damaged hat and stared at it.
"Is that hat really that important to you?" Nami asked.
"Yeah! But it's fine, I can still wear it! Besides, Buggy has already paid for what he did, so I'm at ease now," Luffy said.
Luffy walked over to Zoro and started patting him to wake him up.
"Zoro! Come on, get up already," Luffy said.
"Huh? Are you done already?" Zoro asked as he got up.
"It's over. We have the map and the treasure," Luffy said.
"I don't think I can walk yet," Zoro said, feeling a bit dizzy.
"Of course, you're both badly injured. If you could still move, you wouldn't be human," Nami said.
"Why are you including me in that?" Luffy asked.
"YOU'RE THE LEAST HUMAN OF ALL!" Nami shouted.
"Even though your little argument is entertaining, we need to help Zoro with his wound. It was a pretty deep cut," Oliver said.
"Hey, you!"
The four of them turned to see a crowd of townspeople approaching.
"We're from this town. Do you know what happened here?" one of the citizens asked.
"Oh, townspeople! I think there are still some pirates around. It's a long story," Nami said.
"AH! THE MAYOR!" another citizen shouted.
Everyone rushed to check on the mayor, who was badly injured.
"What happened to him?"
"Damn! What could have happened?"
"Was it the pirates?"
The townspeople began questioning what had happened to him.
"Ah, sorry! I hit him," Luffy said.
"What?"
All the townspeople glared at them in fury.
"You didn't have to tell them that," Nami said.
"But you saw it too, didn't you?" Luffy asked.
"Yeah, but you'd better explain it differently," Nami scolded him.
The townspeople pointed their weapons at them, demanding to know if they were pirates.
'They've gone mad. If we say something they don't like, they'll kill us.'
"Yes, we're pirates," Luffy answered, leaving Nami stunned.
"Haha," Zoro laughed despite his pain.
"YOU IDIOT!" Nami yelled at him.
"But it's true," Luffy said.
Oliver picked up Zoro and carried him on his back as they all ran away from the enraged townspeople.
"WHY DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO DO THINGS THIS WAY?!" Nami shouted angrily at Luffy.
"This is a good town," Luffy said with a smile.
"Huh?" Nami looked confused.
"They're all trying to avenge their beloved mayor! No matter what I say, they won't change their minds," Luffy said as he kept running.
They kept running until they entered an alleyway, but the townspeople saw them and followed. However, on their path, Shushu stood in their way, blocking them.
Thanks to Shushu's intervention, they managed to reach the port.
"We escaped thanks to Shushu. We didn't need to go through all that," Nami said, relieved.
"Doesn't matter, we got everything we wanted," Luffy said happily.
"That's true," Nami admitted.
"Hey, Zoro. How are you?" Oliver asked.
"A little better," Zoro replied.
"Is this your boat?" Oliver asked Nami. "Not bad."
"It's nothing special. Besides, it belonged to some really dumb pirates," Nami said.
Just then, three pirates came out of the boat, ready to attack.
"We knew you'd come back here."
"It was a surprise finding the ship at this port."
"Did you already forget about us?"
The three pirates glared at them until they noticed Oliver.
"Scram."
They immediately ran away, remembering the beating Oliver and Zoro had given them.
"What just happened?" Nami asked.
"Nothing," Oliver replied.
They prepared themselves, stored the gold, and bandaged Zoro before setting sail from the port. But just before they left the coast, the mayor arrived, exhausted.
"GUYS!! WAIT A MOMENT!" Boodle shouted.
"Oh, it's the mayor," Luffy said.
'I was ready to risk my life… Even if I had died, I would have been at peace,' Boodle thought. "I'M SORRY! I OWE YOU ONE!!"
They all smiled and sailed away from the coast.
"IT'S FINE! WE'RE LEAVING!" Luffy shouted back.
As they sailed, Nami asked Luffy about the treasure bag he was carrying, but he told her he left it in town.
"WHAT?! YOU LEFT THE TREASURE THERE?! YOU LEFT HALF THE TREASURE THERE?! THAT WAS MORE THAN 5 MILLION BELLY!!" Nami scolded him angrily, furious at the lost money.
"Yeah, but they'll need it to rebuild the town, don't you think?" Luffy said.
"BUT THAT WAS MINE!!" Nami shouted in anger.
She grabbed Luffy's head and tried to drown him.
"Stop, stop! I can't swim! If you care so much, why don't you go back for it?!" Luffy shouted, trying to stop her.
"How am I supposed to go back?! You idiot! IF YOU EVER DO THAT AGAIN, I'LL KILL YOU!!" Nami yelled furiously.
"HAHAHAHA!" Zoro laughed at the situation, finding it amusing.
"Hehehe," Nami giggled.
"And why are you laughing now?" Luffy asked, confused.
"SHUT UP!!" Nami shouted again.
And with their new nakama, they set sail toward the next island.
