In Naruto as the Shadow Monarch

Chapter 15: Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Here are the points for the ninja scrolls according to their tier. Forgot to list it in the last chapter. The higher the tier, the rarer and harder to find but also the most coveted. The tier number is listed on the side of the scrolls.

Tier 1: 1 Points

Tier 2: 5 Points

Tier 3: 10 Points

Tier 4: 25 Points

Tier 5: 50 Points

Kuro had placed all of the scrolls he had collected so far into his inventory. Since he knows how much of a peeping Tom the Third Hokage is, he acted like he was placing the scrolls into his shadow.

Kuro sat on a tree branch watching a team of 6 carefully moving around while holding a scroll with a written 4 on it.

'Guess it is my lucky day.' Kuro's eyes gleamed with amusement as he observed the group of six.

He shifted his position, crouching low on the tree branch, blending into the environment. He had already been moving silently, utilizing his class skills to perfection, and he knew this was the perfect moment to strike.

He watched the students move carefully through the forest, their movements synchronized, their eyes scanning for threats.

With a smirk, Kuro began to weave through the trees, moving like a shadow. He darted from tree to tree, following them at a distance, always staying just out of sight.

And then, it came.

In one fluid motion, he launched himself from the tree. However, the moment he launched himself, he felt his instinct screaming at him.

Following his instinct, Kuro raises the wooden katana right over his chest. He felt a huge force struck the wooden katana, breaking it and throwing him into a tree.

Kuro's body crashed against the tree, the wind knocked out of him as he struggled to catch his breath. The impact had been brutal, but his sharp instincts had saved him—just barely.

He looks toward the group that he was about to strike only to see them all looking at him with their weird dead fish eyes.

'Damn, why the hell did I not notice those creepy eyes before striking.' Kuro mutters as he gets up and reaches toward his shadow to take out another wooden sword. He had underestimated the Hyuga's ability to detect his presence.

"Well well well. What do we have here?" The leader of the group of Hyuga steps forward. "You think we would not notice you following us? You think these eyes are a joke?" The leader pointed to his eyes.

"They are a joke." Kuro replies with a mocking tone and goes into his combat stance. "They made you look like dead fish. No wonder I don't see anyone marrying into the Hyuga. Seeing those eyes everyday would drive an average Joe crazy. At least the Uchiha have normal eyes if they are not using their Sharingan."

The leader's eyebrow twitched, and Kuro could tell his words had hit a nerve. That was exactly what he needed. He wasn't just trying to rile them up; he was distracting them so they don't see his shadow moving.

"Get hi—" The leader could finish his words when he realized he could move anymore. He tried pushing his chakra to the maximum with no avail. He looked toward Kuro and realization dawned on him. "You. You are a Nara aren't you?" He asked.

"Yep." Kuro nodded his head. The Hyuga squad also nodded their head, mimicking Kuro as they are trapped in the Shadow Possession Jutsu.

"But how would you defeat us? You know the weakness of your jutsu, don't you. We can't take you out, but you also can't take us out." The leader stated.

"I can't take you out. But I can do something that you would not like."

"And what would that be?"

Kuro did not reply to him but a dirty grin appeared on his face.

Seeing that grin, the leader starts to have a bad premonition.

Kuro started walking toward the entrance of the Forest of Death with the Hyuga in tow.

The closer they got to the entrance, the more nervous the leader got.

When Kuro could see the entrance from a distance, he looked up and threw a rope over the branch. The other end of the rope fell back down beside him. He did this a few more times before giving the rope a tug. Looking back at the group, his grin widened.

Using the rope, Kuro pulled his body up and started 'walking'. Since his body was in the air, he did not move but that did not apply to the Hyuga.

They started walking toward the forest entrance. The further they got away from Kuro, the more chakra it took to maintain the Shadow Possession Jutsu. However, Kuro has more than enough chakra for what he was about to do to the Hyuga.

The teachers as well as the spectating audience watch with confusion as the Hyuga team steps out of the forest into the clearing.

Then, in an instant, Kuro gathered chakra in his throat and shouted, his voice booming across the clearing. "EVERYONE! THERE IS A TIER 4 SCROLL READY FOR PICKING!"

The sound of rushing footsteps filled the air as students suddenly surged from the forest, eager to grab the coveted scroll. Their eyes widened when they saw the six Hyuga standing in the clearing, perfectly still, with the scroll placed in front of them. However, not a single student rushed forward. They stood frozen, their gazes fixed on the Hyuga with suspicion and caution. Some notice the thin line of shadow heading back into the forest but disregard it.

Once enough students had gathered in the clearing, Kuro let go of the rope. His chakra surged as he focused on the Hyuga, preparing to execute his plan.

One moment, the Hyuga were standing still but the next, they started moving weirdly.

"NO! NO! NO! NO!" one of them cried, his arms flailing in bizarre, jerky motions.

"WHY!?" another one shouted, his legs kicking uncontrollably.

"PLEASE STOP IT!"

Hyuga started crying as they started to move their body embarrassingly against their command.

(A/N: I don't know how to write it so I leave a gif of some of the dances.)

(Dances Here)

The crowds that were watching the fiasco were baffled but enjoying the spectacle. Some couldn't hold back their laughter anymore as they started laughing their eyes out.

Kuro, who was also doing the dances, was enjoying himself since he was hidden from view. He let the Hyuga have the stage.

A few minutes before Kuro controls the Hyuga with the Shadow Possession Jutsu. Inside the tent where the Third Hokage was watching everything with his crystal ball.

When Kuro made his move against the Hyuga team, the Hokage's interest piqued. The Third Hokage wasn't easily impressed, but there was something about Kuro's style that kept him on edge. The way Kuro moved, always playing with the boundaries, always toying with his opponents, was intriguing.

However, the Hokage's expression darkened. He could sense the carelessness in Kuro's approach, especially when he saw the Hyuga leader's Byakugan flare to life. Watching Kuro carelessness, he shook his head. "Even if he could hide his present, he couldn't hide from those eyes."

However, the Third Hokage immediately shot up from his seat when he witnessed what happened next.

As the spectacle unfolded before him, the Hokage's mind flashed back to something he had read long ago—something from Hashirama's diary.

"In the diary, Hashirama stated there was a being that even he and Madara were afraid of. The ancestor of Nara and the Lord of Shadows."

The Hokage's eyes widened with realization. Kuro was a descendant of that man. The sheer control he had over his shadow, the way he moved in and out of the darkness, manipulating it with ease. It seems that Kuro might have unlocked the lost Kekkei Genkai of the Nara Clan.

The Hokage's hand slammed onto the table, the sound sharp in the stillness of the tent. His mind was racing, calculating the threat level now that he fully understood what Kuro was capable of.

Without hesitation, the Hokage stood up, his face set in a rare expression of urgency. He called out to the ANBU operatives hidden around the tent.

"You," he pointed sharply at one of the ANBU. "Go and keep an eye on Kuro Nara." The ANBU nodded without a word, immediately vanishing into the shadows.

The Hokage's gaze then shifted to the others in the room. "The rest of you, go and eliminate all those spies that are secretly watching. We can't let this leak. We cannot afford to have this information spread—especially not to the other villages."

The ANBU, trained to act swiftly and without question, responded in unison. "Yes, Lord Hokage!" And just like that, they were gone, disappearing into the darkness of the forest.

The Hokage sat back down, the weight of the situation pressing on him. He leaned forward, eyes narrowing as he continued to watch Kuro through the crystal ball, his mind shifting gears. "What other surprises do you have, Kuro Nara?"
