In Naruto as the Shadow Monarch

Chapter 13: Chapter 12

Chapter 12

YAWN!

With a yawn, Kuro woke up and looked around the classroom. He noticed that the classroom was empty and the orange sun was going down the horizon outside.

"Seems I slept through the whole day. It seems the fatigue from the dungeon run was more than I thought. Also, why did no one bother to wake me up when the classes were over?."

Kuro got up and stretched to relieve some tension from sleeping in a sitting position. On his way out of the academy, he saw that there was someone waiting at the entrance. The boy was sitting down cross leg in a meditation position. When he heard Kuro, he opened his eyes and got up.

"Looks like you finally decided to come out." The boy spoke aggressively. "Were you that scared of me?"

Kuro looks at the boy. Somehow, he looks familiar. Might be someone prominent from the show.'

"Who the hell are you? Also, I am only scared of my mother in this world. Unless you change your gender and somehow become my mother." Kuro stated as he remembered his mother from the inherited memories. I finally understand why all of the dudes from the Nara clan are henpecked.

"Wha-WHAT! Are you insulting me?! Do you know who my father is?" The boy shouted.

Kuro was flabbergasted by the boy. He never thought he would hear someone say such a cheesy line in his life.

"You're really going to throw that line at me?" Kuro replies with a sarcastic smile, clearly unimpressed. "Listen, kid, I don't care who your grandfather is. If you want to act tough, I suggest you put more effort into it than just shouting about your family tree."

"You're a kid yourself! Also, it is because of you Kurenai decided to drop out! Do you know how much it hurts me just thinking about not seeing her face everyday?!"

"So this is about Kurenai? How do you know it was because of me and not that background character that tripped her?" Kuro was perplex since other than Inochi, no one should have realized his involvement in that event.

"I heard my old man talking with one of the teachers last night." The boy stated as he pointed his finger at Kuro. "It was because of you I can no longer see Kurenai everyday! And you will pay for your transgression!"

The boy stamps his foot into the ground and rushes toward Kuro.

Kuro saw the boy rushing toward him in slow mode. He was confused as to why the boy was attacking him for the dumbest reason. He also wondered why the boy was so slow. 'Is it because my stat increases?'

Just as the boy fist was right in front of him, the fist came to a stop. The boy tried to move but to no avail.

"You! What did you do to me!" The boy screamed.

"You are asking that? You should have realized why you are immobile the moment you attack a member of the Nara clan."

"But why can you use that jutsu without any hand sign!? Only those old monsters can do that."

Kuro's smirk as he watched the boy struggle, still unable to move an inch. It was a bit entertaining, really—this brat trying to act tough when all Kuro had to do was use the simplest of techniques to shut him down.

"Are you really that surprised?" Kuro asked mockingly. "It's not like it's some big secret. The Nara clan specializes in shadow manipulation. I didn't need a hand sign because I've put in the time to master it. If you spent less time chasing skirts and relying on your grandfather and more time actually learning, maybe you'd be able to do something useful."

The boy's eyes widened in disbelief. "But… but only the old monsters can do that! You're just a kid! This kind of skill… It takes years! How are you…?"

Kuro rolled his eyes. "Well, guess I'm just special, huh?" He gave the boy a sideways glance, his words dripping with sarcasm.

Kuro released his jutsu while the boy was distracted. Before the boy could reach, Kuro punched him in the face.

"Arggg!" The boy fell down holding his face.

Kuro didn't give him a chance as he got on top of him and started raining down punches. He is not about to let someone that attacks him for a ridiculous reason go unpunished.

The boy covered his face with both hands. "Do you know who my father is! He is the Hokage! Do you think you could get away with this!?" The boy cries out desperately to get Kuro to stop punching him.

"The Hokage?" Kuro stops his punches. Looking at the beat up face again, Kuro finally knows why he looks familiar. "Asuma Sarutobi?"

"That's me!" Asuma's confidence increased when he noticed Kuro stop attacking him when he heard about the Hokage.

Just as Kuro was deciding whether to continue or not, he heard a notification and a screen appear in front of him.

Tti-ring!

[A hidden quest has been triggered]

[Hidden Quest - I am your grandfather.]

[Have Asuma Sarutobi call you 'grandfather']

[Rewards: ???]

Kuro blinked as the notification appeared in front of him. 'A hidden quest?' He quickly skimmed through the details. 'Have Asuma Sarutobi call you 'grandfather''

His gaze shifted back to Asuma, who was still on the ground, cradling his face and trying to recover from the punch.

He smirks before raising his fist again.

Asuma, seeing this, panics. "Wait! Are you real.."

BAM!

Before Asuma could finish, Kuro's loving fist slammed into his face.

"Aargee!" Asuma uses his hands to cover his face again. He tried channeling chakra to get Kuro off him but he felt as if a giant mountain was pressing down on him.

Kuro continues to rain down punches before he stops. "You know Asuma. I could do this all day. I want to know how long it would take for you to give in or the ANBU to step in. However, I will give you a chance. Call me 'grandfather' and I stop. Deal?"

Asuma's face twisted in confusion and disbelief. "What?!" he yelled. "You want me to call you 'grandfather'?! What kind of joke is this?"

Kuro shrugged, unfazed. "I'm serious. You want me to stop punching you? Then call me 'grandfather.' Simple as that."

"I refuse!" Asuma shouted. Before he could continue further, Kuro started raining down punches again. "You know, I am disappointed in you."

Kuro's fists landed with a dull thud against Asuma's face, each punch seemingly draining more of Asuma's resolve. Asuma's hands were still trying to block the blows, but they were no match for Kuro's speed and power. He could feel his face start to numb, which is not a good sign.

"You're really going to keep resisting?" Kuro said as he continued his barrage. "If you think I'm stopping without you calling me 'grandfather,' you're sorely mistaken."

Asuma's chest heaved as he tried to catch his breath, his pride pushing him to fight back, but he was starting to feel the toll of the constant blows. His vision blurred, and for a moment, he wondered if this was the end.

After continuing punching for 2 minutes, Kuro paused for a moment. He looked down at Asuma, who was now a disheveled mess of bruises and frustration.

Kuro smirked, "I can keep this up for hours, you know. It's not like I've got anything better to do."

"Stop!" Asuma groaned through gritted teeth, desperately trying to summon enough energy to push Kuro off him. But no matter how much chakra he channeled, it felt like his efforts were being smothered under the weight of Kuro's presence. His chakra wasn't enough to break free.

"No?" Kuro's voice was low, his grin widening as he began landing more punches. "You sure? Because I'm starting to get bored."

The harshness of Kuro's tone and the way he spoke so casually while wrecking him finally started to wear down Asuma's resistance. He realized he wasn't going to win this fight, not through force, not through pride, and certainly not by trying to hold on to his dignity. He had to admit defeat, at least for now.

With one final, defeated sigh, Asuma's shoulders slumped in surrender. "Fine… Fine! Grandfather! Are you happy now?!"

"Hum. What a good grandson I have." Kuro smiled as he finally got off Asuma.

Kuro's eyes glinted with satisfaction as the notification chimed, confirming that the quest had been completed.

Tti-ring!

[Hidden Quest - I am your grandfather. Completed!]

[Rewards: ]

+1 Level

+1 To all stat

+10 Stat Points

+1 Dungeon Key

Kuro straightened up, dusting off his hands as if he'd just finished a casual workout. "Ah, there we go. See? That wasn't so hard. You should've just saved yourself the trouble earlier."

Asuma, still sprawled on the ground, seethed with frustration. He was humiliated beyond belief, but there was nothing he could do now. His pride had been shattered in front of the one person who had the audacity to make him call them "grandfather."

"Just you wait until I get my father." Asuma replies with hatred.

"But your grandfather is in front of you. Why do you need to call my son? Come now grandson, tell me your problem." Kuro acted like an old gramp as he looked down on Asuama.

Asuma's eyes burned with anger, his teeth gritted as Kuro mocked him further.

"Shut up!" Asuma snapped, trying to push himself up from the ground, but his battered body made it difficult. His mind, however, was still sharp enough to know that Kuro was playing some sick game with him. "I'm not your grandson."

With that, Asuma staggered away trying to get as far away from Kuro as possible.

Kuro smirks as he looks at Asuma's back. "All this just because of a girl." He then made his way home while humming a tune.

Meanwhile, a team of Anbu who saw the whole event was enjoying themselves. When Kuro and Asuma went their own way, the captain ordered one of his teammates to report to the Hokage.

"Captain, why did you not help the Hokage son?" ask one of the Anbu.

"You think I want to? That little twirp has been going around using the Hokage name to get what he wants. It is about time for him to learn that just because his father is the Hokage doesn't mean anything. If he doesn't have the strength, he is useless."

The Anbu contemplated his captain's words and nodded in understanding.

With that, the sun set and night arrived on the village in the leaf.
