Chapter 69: Chapter 67: Changing world.

Early the next morning, Kurokai lay motionless on his bed, eyes closed, feigning sleep.

He could feel Hikari Sento's intense gaze on him, sharp and unrelenting, as though trying to pierce through his act.

He held his breath, hoping she would just give up and leave him alone.

"Brat, I just saw you open your eyes! I know you're awake!"

Alas, it seems he was caught.

Reluctantly, he cracked one eye open, meeting her stern glare.

"Morning....?" he said in a slightly hesitant voice.

Hikari stood abruptly, her hands on her hips, her expression a mixture of frustration and worry. "Morning? That's all you have to say after what you put me through yesterday?"

Kurokai didn't answer, his gaze fixed on a random corner of the room, trying to avoid looking at her.

"Do you have any idea what it's like to get a call saying your son collapsed from overexerting himself? That you nearly burned yourself out healing people? My heart almost stopped beating! worrying about you! , and this is how you act?" Her voice cracked, along with anger there was also fear in her eyes.

Kurokai maintained his silence.

Hikari's frustration grew.

Her voice finally broke down, bringing along drops of tears in its wake.

"Do you think I can just...keep going if I lose you too?"

Kurokai flinched but didn't move, he wanted to put up his usual act, but as always failed to do so in front of her.

It was hard to describe even though he wasn't her real son.

Wiping the tears flowing down her eyes, she continued in an emotional voice.

"Your father.....when he died, I promised myself to take care of you.....I thought, at least if I had you, I could keep one piece of my family safe. I tried hard, took up the only job I could find, at the convenience store, and worked overnight at the gas station, doing my best to make sure you didn't suffer..."

"Do you even understand how I felt when I heard you were injured so badly? It was as if part of me was ripping away."

Kurokai opened his mouth wanting to say something, but as soon as he saw her crying expression his mind stopped working.

How is it that his brain stops working whenever she is with him?

Hikari sat on his bed, covering her face with her hands as she sobbed silently.

"I can't lose you," she choked out, her voice muffled. "I can't....Kurokai.....I won't survive it...I've already lost too much....."

Kurokai awkwardly scratched his cheek, his eyes darting around trying to think of a solution.

Suddenly a knock was heard from the room's door, attracting their attention.

It was Hero Miriko who had been silently listening to their conversation all this time.

"Yo," Miriko called out, stepping inside. Her usual confident tone had a cautious edge. "Am I interrupting something?"

Hikari turned sharply toward Miriko, her eyes narrowing. "Yes, you are," she snapped.

Miriko froze for a second, her usual bravado faltering. "Look, I just thought—"

"You thought what?" Hikari cut her off, her voice rising. "You thought you'd come in here and defend him? Make excuses for him? None of this would've happened if you and the other heroes had done your jobs."

Miriko's ears twitched, and her expression stiffened, she did come in to help Kurokai but it seemed to have backfired rapidly.

"If you and the others had managed to take down Mechamaru before things got out of hand, Kurokai wouldn't have been forced to overexert himself healing everyone."

Miriko's head lowered in embarrassment.

If it was anyone else, she would have instantly shown her ferocious side.

But she was Kurokai's mother after all, she couldn't say anything bad to her.

So she tried to make an excuse.

"We didn't fail---"

"Don't give me that," Hikari snapped interrupting her. "You're supposed to be professionals. Heroes. It's your job to stop villains like him. My son shouldn't have to put his life on the line to clean up your mess! In the first place....."

Then begins Hikari Sento's unrelenting assault on Hero Miriko.

Now two figures sitting together on the bed with their heads lowered, quietly enduring Hikari's continuous thrashing.

"How did even come to this? Aren't you guys professionals? you can't even beat one villain!...."

Kurokai with his head lowered silently glanced at his new comrade Miriko who was sitting on his right.

Coincidently she was also looking at him.

Both of their gazes collided for a moment, then blinked at each other.

Then lowered their heads at the same time.

Meanwhile, three pairs of heads silently poked from the room's doorframe.

They were Hero Best Jeanist, Pixie-bob, and Eraser Head.

The three of them looked at the scene, seeing the chaos, they glanced at each other and then silently retreated back to safety.

----

Inside Ua's principal's room.

All Might's sidekick, Hero Nighteye went through the file in his head with great concentration.

Opposite him sat the principal of Ua Nezu who was also looking through various documents.

Currently, the heroes society was facing rapid backlash from the people and the media, Nezu being the principal of one of Japan's most prestigious hero schools was also a target for criticism.

But instead of dealing with those things he sat in his office, reading through various information Hero Nighteye just provided him.

Suddenly they both stopped at the same time and put down the document on their hands, looking at each other, they said simultaneously.

"Aoyama."

The room fell silent.

Principal Nezu leaned back in his seat and picked up his cup, drinking silently from it.

Hero Nighteye adjusted his glasses and said without hesitation.

"At first I was doubtful of both Kurokai and Aoyama."

"But you dropped Kurokai's suspicion after his repeated help?", Nezu stated in a calm voice.

Hero Nighteye nodded his head.

"After he did all those things, I could no longer find any fault, the only point of concern was his quirk, but since All Might reassured me again and again which made me relent."

Nighteye shook his head and continued.

"That only leaves Aoyama, similar to Kurokai his quirk is also very suspicious, as if it is incompatible with his body, of course, there are also other students who become weak after using their quirk, but there is an abnormality about Aoyama which is different from them."

"Unlike other students, Aiyama's strength never increased."

Nezu silently sipped his drink.

"During the Nomu incident, how is it that Aoyama was the only one who wasn't hurt? was it luck? or maybe the villains deliberately avoided him?"

"The same thing happened at the training camp, No student saw Aoyama when they were fighting the villains as if he disappeared completely."

Hero Nighteye pointed at the document principal Nezu had just placed down.

"Student Aoyama's family is also very suspicious, although I didn't find any concrete proof, there are many unexplainable points present."

"I want your permission to put hidden cameras inside Aoyama's room."

Principal Nezu looked at him in silence.

Although Hero Nighteye gave some valid points, if one looks closely then one will find that they were mostly based on assumption, not concrete evidence.

If it was any other time, Nezu would have definitely not agreed to the request and told Nighteye to gather more solid proof.

But the current time didn't allow for any hesitation.

The damage caused by the red sun was clear to all.

He couldn't possibly allow it to happen to Ua.

After some deliberation, Nezu nodded his head.

Gears of fate were moving quickly.

----

All Might stood on the roof of the hospital, silently staring at the sun in the distance.

His usual smile was nowhere to be found, the only emotion pasted on his face was worry and sadness.

Midoriya stood behind him, seeing All Might's lowered back he tightly clenched his fists.

----

In the ruins of the red sun, Todoroki was continuously looking around, searching with other rescue members, trying to find a familiar figure.

But no matter how much he tried, no traces could be found.

Todoroki lowered his eyes with sadness, wondering if his father was really dead.

Turned to ashes.

Suddenly his gaze was attracted by some figures rushing towards him.

They were his family members.

His brother, sister and...

Todoroki's eyes shook.

His mother.

----

Underneath Jaku General Hospital.

Inside a secret laboratory.

The doctor looked in wonder at the rapidly increasing assimilating value displayed on the screen.

In front of him was a container filled with green liquid, inside the green liquid the figure of Shigaraki could be seen.

His eyes were completely red as if filled with blood and anger.
