Chapter 44: Chapter 43

"South, huh?"

Morin looked in the direction the cane had fallen.

"I remember Meteor City is in the northern part of Yorbian Continent, which itself is located in the southwestern segment of the Six Continents.

"So heading south from here, we'd either still be in Yorbian or reach the Balusa Archipelago, where the NGL Republic—the future Chimera Ant hotspot—is located.

"In any case, compared to the other continents, our target isn't too far from here.

"Still, with only 70% accuracy from the Locator Cane, we'll need another tool for confirmation."

Morin opened the unassuming umbrella he'd been carrying.

At once, an arrow appeared at the top of the umbrella, pointing in a direction.

Tool: Locator Umbrella

Effect: Helps pinpoint the exact location of the target.

(Note: In its original version, Nobita used this umbrella to find his father after Gian stole all the umbrellas.)

In the past three days, Morin had acquired three tools through his daily sign-ins. Two of them were the Locator Umbrella and the Locator Cane.

With both tools working together, he was confident they could locate the person he was searching for.

As Morin confirmed their heading and explained the tools' functionality to Pakunoda, she raised a reasonable question:

"Who exactly are we going through all this trouble to find?"

Morin gave a cryptic answer:

"Someone who can help us immensely."

Yorbian Continent lies in the southwestern part of the Six Continents, closest to the Dark Continent.

Because of this unique geography, strange and often dangerous things occasionally drift in from outside.

The Chimera Ant Queen, for example, had been brought to Yorbian's southwestern edge as part of V5's secretive operations.

This geographical peculiarity has resulted in Yorbian Continent boasting more magical beasts, hidden realms, and ancient ruins than any of the other five continents.

However, apart from some highly developed coastal cities, much of Yorbian's central and southern regions resemble a medieval world—or even the fantasy settings of isekai anime.

(Then again, Hunter x Hunter is an anime too...)

Using the Locator Umbrella and Locator Cane, Morin and Pakunoda continued their journey together for another three days.

During this time, Morin collected three additional tools before they finally arrived at their destination.

It was a small, rundown town that seemed nearly deserted.

As they stood at the town's entrance, they spotted a lazy man lying in the street, basking in the sun and scratching his belly.

"You mean to tell me the person we're looking for—the one who can supposedly help us—is in this place?"

Pakunoda gave Morin a long, skeptical look.

She didn't say anything, but her expression clearly conveyed her doubts.

"There's an old saying where I come from," Morin replied, his gaze fixed on the town. "Timing is everything.

"She might not live here. She could just be passing through or resting temporarily, and we happened to cross paths."

Pakunoda nudged a piece of litter with her foot, still skeptical but respectful of Morin's judgment.

"All right, let's go."

Morin raised the Locator Umbrella again, noticing the arrow on it reacting more strongly.

This indicated they were getting closer to their target.

The rundown town had the feel of a western frontier town, complete with a central saloon.

At this moment, inside the saloon—usually boisterous to the point of chaos—a strange silence had taken over.

There were still sounds, though.

gulp.

A group of drunkards nervously swallowed, their gazes darting around.

Some looked away, while others boldly—or greedily—stared straight ahead.

All eyes were fixed on a small figure sitting at the bar.

"After all that effort, what a waste of time! There wasn't even a gem in the ruins!"

The petite figure swung her legs back and forth in frustration, pouting as she leaned on the bar. Her gloved hands propped up her chin.

"The long-lost royal gem of the Kadra Kingdom, passed down through generations and said to be hidden in the ruins near this town—turns out it wasn't there at all!"

She sighed unhappily.

Her golden twin braids shimmered as they fell over her shoulders, and her eyes sparkled like they belonged to an animated character.

She wore a grand, crimson princess dress, making her look like a porcelain doll brought to life.

Despite her regal attire, she seemed no older than a charming pre-teen girl, around ten or so.
