Chapter 59: Vanishing Cabinet -2
"I think on holidays there is no need for us to kill ourselves with extra work. You need to learn magic and not check your old notes and waste time on it." Neville said and he gave a look to Silvi who was standing on the opposite of the dining table.
Silvi understood her master's feelings instantly and with a flick of her hands, all books and notes of Hermione simply flew out of her hands before stacking themselves neatly on a faraway table.
Pansy wanted to say something, but she held back. After all, she was the one who pushed Hermione to write all these notes and create a book for the first-year students.
Hermione glared angrily at Neville but looking at his stoic face, she just let out a big sigh.
"You are right! I came to practice my charms here but the allure of writing books for the first-year students and helping them made me forget my real purpose. Sorry, Neville."
Hermione said before taking another bite and thanked Silvi politely.
Silvi was elated at being thanked but she kept her emotions in check. Master Neville had taught her that she must be a perfect butler and not act like an emotional fool.
Neville heard the idea of books, but he thought this is the idea of both girls and didn't say anything about it. The trio soon forgot about the books and started discussing their charms. Pansy also told Hermione about the new spells she recently learned and shared her knowledge of Affinity based spells.
Surprisingly, Hermione had received notes from Professor McGonagall about affinity charms and hence was ahead of Pansy. Her affinity was wind-based spells and thus, she was proficient in those. Although the number of charms she knew was small still she was not clueless like Pansy.
"Neville, when will you open the library?" Pansy started discussing the library plans knowing full well that her future finance directly depended upon it.
"Very Soon. In no more than 2 weeks. I have already purchased a place and sent orders for books. There are also many books that we are sourcing from the Muggle world and very soon they will be available for free for all the wizard world.
Plus, almost all the books from Longbottom's manor will also be available there." Neville happily shared the latest update with Pansy and Hermione before they all finished the dinner and decided to spend some time with the flying snakes.
For Hermione, these green-blue baby snakes with cute small wings were the most beautiful creature she had ever seen. Besides, she always wanted to own a cat and now, there was a magical Kneazle that she could pet freely.
"Neville, are you trying to create your own beast sanctuary with all these animals in future?" Hermione asked while brushing the fur of the Kneazle and the now, slightly healthy Kneazle was purring softly in her lap.
"Well, I already have one. Hagrid is going to come tomorrow, and I am going to hand over Longbottom's sanctuary to him. It's a bare island with very few beasts now but I do have a baby dragon." Neville replied with a grin getting excited shrieks from both girls!
"A dragon?! Neville, you have a dragon?" Hermione was almost jumping (while a Kneazle was getting crushed under her arms).
"Yes, how about a small picnic there? These cuties will also grow soon and then I have to transport them all there." Neville was just talking when the Kneazle angrily purred.
"Yes, you will stay with me. Greedy bastard!" Neville angrily said to the Kneazle. In the last few weeks that this food thief had learned how to sneak into the kitchen area and grab food from the elves without getting caught.
For this magical cat, a safe place where she can sleep anywhere and eat delicious food, this place was heaven. It will never leave this place.
"PURRR!" the Kneazle said loudly before escaping the hands of Hermione and jumping into the arms of the Pansy.
"I have never seen a dragon! Oh my god! A dragon! I only read about them in books!" Hermione was lost in her dreams of dragon and Pansy started scratching the slightly fat tummy of the Kneazle.
"Calm down bushy head! It will take a few days. Anyway, let's head back. From tomorrow, we will practice charms together. I was teaching Pansy some things but since you are here, you can join us."
"Cool!" Hermione said and Pansy also felt better. Practising with Neville was not a good experience for her. As a proud pure-blood witch, she found her knowledge is not even a fraction of Neville's and would always feel that Neville was unhappy with her.
In this way, the trio dispersed for the night.
"So, how is this new girl Silvi?" Lady Augusta asked her house-elf after dinner. She was alone in her room and talking with the house-elf whom she ordered to keep an eye on the girls.
"Lady Hermione is very good. Very knowledgeable and very hard working. However, she lacks proper manners, but she can be trained. Also, she loves books and spends most of her time in the library."
Silvi replied to Lady Augusta and told her about many incidents that happened in the last few days.
"How is Neville with her?" Lady Augusta asked curiously.
"Master Neville is very respectful to her, but they are both busy with their work. Master Neville spends most of his day in his room and study room while Madam Hermione is in the library."
"Hmmm…...Okay. Thank you, Silvi. Let me know what they do together and keep an eye on her." Lady Augusta told Silvi before going to her bed. For her, this family that once came close to dying in front of her eyes, she was more than happy with Neville getting close to the future witches.
But she will judge if the girl is worthy of her house. So far, they are friends but who knows what will happen in future.
The following days passed in a blur. Hagrid accepted the new job offer from Neville and happily went away to take care of Diana. For him, the idea of living with a dragon was more than enough to leave everything behind. Dragons were supreme love for him.
