Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Ren's Plan!

Chapter 52: Ren's Plan!

This was the highest point of Butterfly Mansion and the entire mountain. From here, Ren could view all the surrounding landmarks and terrain.

From the very beginning, Ren had no intention of competing with Sanemi and Kyojuro over rescuing injured people.

It was inefficient and, frankly, unnecessary.

How many injured people could one transport in a single trip? How much effort was needed to outperform Hashira-level competitors?

Not to mention, Sanemi and Kyojuro were no ordinary opponents. Attempting to outdo the Wind Hashira and Flame Hashira would be reckless, even for him.

"I'm not that stubborn," Ren mused. "Only someone as impulsive as Inosuke would challenge two Hashira like that."

Ren had devised a plan from the start.

While the others scrambled below, he positioned himself on the roof of Butterfly Mansion, surveying everything.

From his vantage point, he saw it all—even Inosuke's earlier missteps as he tried to compete.

Ren couldn't help but chuckle and shake his head.

"Good thing I didn't rush in," he muttered. "I'd have ended up just as embarrassed—if not worse."

Ren closed his eyes and activated his "Bullet Field" ability.

Suddenly, the scenery around him sharpened as his senses expanded. He could see farther and clearer than before, analyzing every detail in his surroundings.

[You look far away, your pupils expand, the curvature of the lens decreases, and your vision improves!]

[You observe the scenery of Butterfly Mansion Mountain. You discover nine injured Demon Slayers near the summit, one with a broken leg on the mountainside, and a village at the base of the mountain.]

[You've been observing for one minute, gaining insight. You have mastered reconnaissance skills!]

[Your eyesight improves further!]

[Your hearing sharpens!]

[You've been listening for two minutes, achieving meticulous auditory perception!]

[You identify a medicinal field near the village at the mountain's base.]

[You find a way to turn the situation in your favor.]

Underneath the Butterfly Mansion, Shinobu Kocho, Kanao Tsuyuri, and Aoi Kanzaki watched Ren perched on the roof, puzzled by his actions.

"Why is he just standing there?" Aoi wondered aloud.

Ren's competitors, Sanemi and Kyojuro, had already brought back multiple injured people, securing significant points. In comparison, Ren and Inosuke were still at the bottom of the rankings.

Aoi shook her head. "At this rate, he's going to lose for sure."

Kanao, however, kept her eyes fixed on Ren, her cheeks faintly pink.

Sitting quietly on a bench, she doodled a red heart next to Ren's name on a piece of paper.

Shinobu glanced over and smirked. "Kanao, your admiration is showing."

Flustered, Kanao hid the paper behind her back.

But Shinobu was too quick, snatching it from her hands.

She raised an eyebrow at the heart-dotted page. "You're hopeless, Kanao," she teased, handing her a fresh piece of paper. "Focus on recording points—and no helping Ren cheat."

Kanao nodded obediently but couldn't resist glancing back at Ren.

Suddenly, Aoi's voice broke their thoughts. "Ren's gone!"

The three girls looked up to find the roof empty.

"Where did he go?" Kanao asked, a note of concern in her voice.

Shinobu and Aoi exchanged glances, both wondering if Ren had finally come up with a plan to turn the tide.

Meanwhile, Ren had already made his way to the foot of the mountain.

From his earlier observations, he had identified several buildings surrounded by medicinal herbs, similar to those used at Butterfly Mansion. He deduced they must be treatment centers for the local villagers.

When Ren entered one of the buildings, he was met with the sight of countless injured people—more than he had expected. Among them were a few Demon Slayers.

Ren's eyes lit up. "This is it!"

Approaching an older man near the door, he asked, "Sir, why are there so many injured people here?"

The man, visibly exhausted, waved him off. "Don't ask me! I'm just doing my job!"

Before Ren could press further, a voice from inside the room answered.

"Let me explain."

Ren turned to see a Demon Slayer stepping forward. He had short black hair, plain features, and wore the standard uniform of the corps.

Something about him seemed familiar.

"Murata?" Ren asked tentatively.

The man blinked in surprise. "You know me?"

Ren nodded. "Yeah, I've heard of you. You're a dedicated member of the Demon Slayer Corps, always on the front lines."

Murata looked both flattered and confused. "Well, I suppose that's true. And you are?"

"Ren, from Butterfly Mansion," he replied. "What's the situation here? Why are there so many wounded?"

Murata sighed deeply. "Demons attacked the village last night. Many were injured in the chaos, and this place has been overwhelmed ever since."

Hearing this, Ren's mind raced. This was an opportunity. If he could help treat the wounded here and transport some of them to Butterfly Mansion, he could score points without directly competing with the Hashira.

A plan began to form in his mind.

"Murata, I'm going to need your help," Ren said with a determined smile.

This was his chance to turn the tables.
