Chapter 79: Chapter 74: Return To The Castle...
After teasing Charlotte, who was now visibly irritated, Dorothy finally turned her attention to Ben.
Meanwhile, Ben had just noticed something unusual—
A pink, spherical cloud hovering near the edge of the camp.
Dorothy grinned widely and waved her hand.
"Ben-kun, I brought you a surprise~!"
With that, the pink cloud drifted toward them, swirling gently before stopping right in front of Ben—
Who watched curiously.
Then, without warning—
The cloud burst into mist, dissolving into the air.
And when it cleared—
Three unconscious figures lay collapsed on the ground.
Charlotte, Nebra, and Mereoleona stiffened in surprise as they got a clearer look at them.
Their eyes widened.
"They're…!"
It was Seraphina Rapul and her two companions—the very assassins who had previously escaped their grasp after attempting to kill Ben.
"How… did you capture them?"
Charlotte, still processing the sight before her, turned toward Dorothy with curiosity—and a hint of skepticism.
Also, why was Dorothy even here?
Dorothy stretched lazily, then spun playfully on her floating cloud before flashing a mischievous smirk.
"I'm on a special mission to protect our little king~!"
With a dramatic flourish, she raised her right hand—
💨 Poof!
A scroll wrapped in a pink mist appeared, sealed with the Wizard King's insignia.
She handed it to Charlotte, who quickly unrolled it and read.
After scanning its contents, Charlotte furrowed her brows.
"If there's a battle going on, why would he send you here?"
She shook her head and gestured toward a nearby tent where the previously captured assassins were being held under heavy security.
"We've already dealt with the first group of assassins. It would've made more sense to send you to the frontlines at the prison instead of here."
Dorothy simply chuckled, rolling onto her stomach on her floating cloud, her chin resting in her hands.
"I know, I know~! But you see…"
She lazily wiggled her fingers in the air, her expression turning playfully smug.
"I'm just the backup in case you three ladies failed to capture the culprits…"
Her smirk widened.
"Which you did."
She then winked provocatively, raising her eyebrows in mock superiority.
"And I caught them instead~!"
"____"

Nebra and Mereoleona—who weren't far away—paused and turned toward Dorothy, their expressions shifting slightly.
The Coral Peacock Captain, usually a lazy dreamer, was surprisingly lively today—
And for some reason, she was poking at them too.
Mereoleona's lips curled into a fierce grin.
"Looks like we need to settle this with a battle—to see who's the strongest among us."
She cracked her knuckles, her fighting spirit igniting.
Charlotte, hearing this, didn't respond immediately—
But her firm gaze spoke volumes.
Her fist tightened slightly.
She, too, was tempted to test her strength.
Yet, before she could react, her eyes flickered toward Dorothy, her so-called best friend, who—
With a simple shrug—
💤 Flopped back onto her cloud, stretching lazily.
"…Yaaawn~"
She let out a long, sleepy sigh, her eyes fluttering closed.
Clearly, she had zero interest in fighting.
Or… maybe she was just messing with them again.
Nebra, on the other hand—
For some reason, felt left out.
Her fingers clenched into fists.
She looked at the powerful women surrounding Ben—
Mereoleona. Charlotte. Dorothy.
All of them were strong. Capable. Fearless.
And close to Ben.
Her heart tightened.
Her eyes burned with new determination.
'I need to become stronger…'
'If I want to stand alongside them—if I want to compete with these crazy women near Ben—'
At that moment, she made a resolute decision.
Ben Steps In
Sigh…
Ben let out a defeated sigh, rubbing the back of his head.
"Alright, alright, everyone calm down—"
He stepped between them, raising a hand in mock surrender before things could escalate into an all-out battle.
"Let's just focus on what really matters right now—"
He gestured to the massive pile of hunted Snowdrift Bunnies…
And the huge bear they had taken down.
"Let's prepare the barbecue, have a good meal, and head back to the palace."
His words hung in the air for a moment.
Mereoleona's grin lingered, but she didn't press further.
Charlotte gave a small, firm nod.
Dorothy? Well… she was already half-asleep on her cloud.
And Nebra—
Her fists relaxed, but in her heart, the fire of resolve had already been lit.
For now, the tension dissolved into the night—
Replaced by the sizzling sounds of the upcoming feast.
The Next Morning…
Thud~ Thud~
Thud~ Thud~
A rhythmic hovering sound echoed through the air as the king's chariot descended from the sky, flanked by royal guards who quickly took their positions.
After spending the night in Chillbound Wildwood, enjoying a grand barbecue of hunted Snowdrift Bunnies and the massive bear, they had finally returned to the castle.
At the King's Castle…
Once inside, Ben turned to the group, offering a warm invitation.
"Why don't you all stay here at the castle for a while?"
he suggested, glancing at Charlotte, Nebra, Mereoleona, and Dorothy.
However, Charlotte, Mereoleona, and Dorothy shook their heads.
"I'd love to, but we need to report to the Wizard King's palace,"
Charlotte said, her tone firm.
Mereoleona crossed her arms, her battle-hungry grin returning.
"Yeah, there's still a lot to figure out about the battle at Clover Prison—our help might be needed."
Dorothy, floating lazily on her cloud, simply yawned.
"Mmhh~ Besides, if there's a fight brewing, I don't wanna miss it~"
she added with a sleepy smile.
Ben nodded in understanding, then turned to Nebra, who had been unusually quiet.
Unlike the others, she seemed deep in thought.
After a moment of hesitation, she finally exhaled softly.
"I'll stay,"
she said, making up her mind.
Charlotte's eyebrows twitched slightly, her sharp gaze flicking toward Nebra for a brief moment—
As if trying to read her intentions.
But she didn't say anything.
Instead, she turned back to Ben, stepping forward.
With a slight blush dusting her cheeks, she quickly gave him a hug—
Her ears and cheeks burning red as she pulled away.
Then, without another word, she turned on her heel and followed Mereoleona and Dorothy out of the castle.
Ben watched them go, then turned back to Nebra, who stood quietly beside him.
She wasn't lying when she said she wasn't needed at the Wizard King's palace—
Her mist magic was more support-based, meaning she likely wouldn't be placed on the front lines.
And she had her own reasons for staying behind.
For one—her brothers were still there, so the family was already represented.
And two—
A small smirk played on her lips.
She was in no rush to leave.
Ben called for a servant, instructing them to escort Nebra to a guest room, which had already been prepared in case of visitors.
"Make sure she's comfortable,"
he added.
The servant nodded and led Nebra away.
Ben let out a long sigh.
The past few days had been hectic—assassination attempts, fierce battles, unexpected encounters in the wild…
And now, with things momentarily calm, he knew exactly what he needed.
"A long, relaxing bath sounds perfect right now,"
he muttered to himself.
Without wasting any more time, he headed straight to the bathhouse, ready to soak away the exhaustion.
For once, he could finally breathe
Ben leaned back against the edge of the steaming bath, letting the warm water soothe his muscles.
The past few days had been exhausting, and finally, he had a moment to relax.
But—
"System, show me my status,"
he commanded, feeling a little restless despite the peaceful atmosphere.

A simple status window appeared before him, displaying his current FP balance and hinting at the unlocking of a new alien.
Ben narrowed his eyes.
"System, any missions available?"
he asked, hoping to shake off the boredom.

Ben's eyes narrowed as he read the translucent green screen floating before him.
He remained silent for a moment, then let out a long sigh.
"So, these bastards have been using an orphanage as cover… interesting."
Despite the warm water, a cold glint flashed in Ben's eyes.
Then—
A small smirk formed on his lips.
King's Cabin...
Two Hours Later...
After a long, relaxing bath, Ben arrived at his private cabin, now dressed in his royal attire.
However, the moment he stepped inside, he was greeted by—
A mountain of paperwork.
Sigh~
Letting out a defeated sigh, Ben took his seat, glancing at the endless stacks of documents awaiting his signature.
His loyal butler, Henry, stood beside him, meticulously explaining the purpose of each document as Ben worked through them.
"Henry,"
Ben said, rubbing his temples,
"next time, separate these into categories—orphanages, construction, farming, military, and so on. It'll make everything way easier to process."
Henry blinked in surprise before nodding.
"As you wish, my king. To be honest, you are the first ruler I've ever seen who actually reads the paperwork before signing it. Most nobles and former kings skimmed through or skipped it entirely."
He let out a helpless sigh before continuing,
"All documents undergo multiple rounds of review before reaching your desk, so previous rulers didn't bother with this level of scrutiny."
Ben shook his head, feeling both amused and resigned by Henry's words.
After a brief silence, he leaned back and said,
"Henry, I'll be going on a night walk tonight."
Henry's eyes narrowed in concern.
"Shall I summon a team of Royal Guards?"
he asked cautiously.
Ben immediately shook his head.
"A true king needs to see the kingdom through the eyes of his people. If I only observe from a throne, I'll never understand the real struggles they face. I'm going in disguise—alone."
Henry's expression darkened.
"My king, we cannot take your safety lightly,"
he insisted.
"No matter the reason, I strongly advise against this. But…"
He paused, thinking for a moment before making a counterproposal.
"What if you compromise? Take five Royal Guards with you—all disguised as commoners. And since Lady Nebra is currently staying at the castle, she should accompany you as well."
Ben hesitated, mulling over Henry's suggestion.
A few moments later—
"Fine,"
he sighed.
"Five disguised guards and Nebra. That's all."
Henry finally relaxed, nodding in approval.
"As you wish, my king. I shall make the arrangements."
