Chapter 108: Chapter 0.107 You’re the worst husband ever
The marble tiles of the academy corridor clicked softly under Rina's heels as she stormed ahead, her crimson hair swaying behind her like a banner of defiance. The midday light streamed through the stained glass windows, painting fractured rainbows across the floor, but she didn't notice. Her golden eyes, bright with irritation, darted forward with laser focus.
"You're so annoying, Jin," she snapped over her shoulder. "You made me leave my lunch, and now you're following me like some lost puppy. Honestly, you're the worst husband ever."
Behind her, Jin's boots echoed leisurely, as if he wasn't being scolded, but rather taking a scenic stroll. His black shirt, tailored to perfection, hugged his lean frame; the long leather coat he wore flowed behind him like a shadow that had learned to flirt. His crimson eyes gleamed with mischief beneath dark lashes, and his obsidian hair fell lazily across his forehead, half-hiding a smirk that refused to die.
"Ouch," Jin said with mock pain, raising a hand to his chest as if her words had pierced something vital. "Worst husband? That's a heavy title, my dear. I'm touched you think of me as a husband at all."
Rina froze in her tracks. Her back tensed, her shoulders rose, and for a moment, she didn't move.
Slowly, she turned around.
"You—!" she began, her cheeks already flushed a brilliant red.
Jin tilted his head, walking a step closer. "Are you blushing again, wife of mine? Was it something I said? Or maybe something you're thinking about?" His voice lowered teasingly, almost purring, "Something steamy from last night perhaps?"
Her hand twitched. "You—! Stop saying stuff like that in public!"
Jin's smile grew wider. "Why? You weren't so shy when you were hugging me and crying into my shirt. What happened to that version of you, hmm? I kind of liked her. She was… soft."
"I. Was. Vulnerable!" Rina exploded, fists clenched at her sides. "And you're using that against me!"
He leaned in, lowering his voice to a whisper only she could hear, "Not against you, darling… I'm keeping it with me. Like a treasure."
Her heart stuttered.
Why does he say these things so shamelessly? Why is it that even when I'm furious, one stupid line from him turns my insides to static?
Rina spun around again, walking faster now. "Just… leave me alone!"
But Jin was beside her again in a second, matching her stride. "I can't," he said. "I'd miss the view."
Her pace slowed for a heartbeat before she growled under her breath.
"You're impossible," she muttered.
Jin glanced at her out of the corner of his eye. "Rina."
"What now?"
"…You walk faster when you're mad. It's cute."
She groaned and slapped his arm. "Stop saying things like that!"
He caught her wrist gently mid-slap. "I mean it."
For a moment, the corridor fell into a bubble of silence around them.
He was still holding her wrist. Not tightly. Not possessively. Just… there. Solid. Warm.
Her heartbeat betrayed her again.
Then he released her, the air between them snapping back into place.
Rina looked away, pretending to study the wall art.
"Fine," she muttered. "Whatever."
Jin stuffed his hands into his coat pockets, humming. "So, what's our next class again?"
"Magical Combat ," she replied, still not meeting his eyes.
Jin groaned dramatically. "Professor Sarren again? The guy who talks like he's reading an ancient prophecy?"
Rena looked at Jin and said, "How do you know Professor Sarin when you haven't met him today?"
Jin smiled and said, "My dear wife, I gathered the information before I came here. I also know everything about Professor Sarin. He is an old man And he smells bad, like he peed in his pants"
Rina tried not to laugh. She really tried. But her lips curved before she could stop them.
"He's not *that* bad."
"He is," Jin insisted. "Every lecture feels like I'm about to be cursed."
She glanced at him. "You probably deserve it."
Jin placed a hand to his heart, faking deep hurt. "Oh, how cruel the world is… even my own wife is against me."
"I'm *not* your wife!"
He raised an eyebrow. "You sure? Because if we were married, I could say things like…" He leaned in, lowering his voice again, eyes shimmering with that reckless heat. "You'd look incredible in a black bikini, you know. Especially if I was watching."
Rina's soul left her body for a split second.
Her mouth opened and closed. "Y-You're insane!"
"And you're beautiful when you're angry."
"Stop flirting with me!"
"Stop making it so easy."
She turned away again, ears burning. "You're such a jerk…"
Behind her, Jin's smile softened into something she didn't see—gentler, more real. Something unguarded.
But then…
"I wonder," he said, clearly just to push her buttons, "should we study human anatomy together later? You know, for educational purposes. The practical kind. I hear bathing together is very informative…"
She spun around to slap him again.
He dodged, laughing, raising his hands in surrender. "Okay, okay! I'm just teasing."
"You're dead, Jin Rotschy!"
"Looking forward to the funeral, Lady Emberheart."
