Impoverished Me Saving Love-Starved Rich Women

Ch. 4

A sweet, soft voice rang out weakly beside his ear, seeming to tremble slightly.

It wasn't the familiar voice from his memory. Xie Ci was somewhat disappointed as he turned around in surprise.

The girl was probably seventeen or eighteen years old, with a very pure and cute appearance. Her jet-black long hair was tied into twin tails, with long strands falling to her shoulders.

She wore a black short dress with wine-red trim, a belt with metal buckles loosely tied around her slender waist. Below the dress hem, her graceful legs were wrapped in black stockings, and her small feet wore black ankle boots.

From head to toe, aside from her fair skin, she was dressed entirely in black, with only a silver necklace faintly visible below her neck.

The cold-toned outfit made her entire being radiate an aura that warned others to keep away.

Xie Ci could even imagine her looking down disdainfully and saying contemptuously:

"What a waste..."

However, at this moment, she was clenching her small hands, biting her red lips, her delicate face showing deep worry and nervousness.

Her watery big eyes stared quietly at Xie Ci, and many mixed emotions swirled in those crimson pupils.

Xie Ci turned to look at this beautiful girl. He could see that the girl harbored many thoughts, her hesitant appearance truly pitiable.

Moreover, after this summer's contact with Miss Ye Li, he had come to recognize many things he'd previously had almost no chance to see, but now took for granted.

For instance, the girl's expensive clothing was exquisite and beautiful. The thick black stockings even had Balenciaga prints, and even the ankle boots on her feet were quite pricey.

Miss Ye Li used to always drag him to luxury stores, picking this and that, as if Xie Ci were some doll that needed dressing up...

In any case, this girl was definitely another rich woman.

Why was his poor self always surrounded by a bunch of rich women?

These were creatures that shouldn't appear around him, yet he always encountered them.

However, the necklace around her neck seemed to be some cheap street vendor goods from its dull luster and rough texture, completely at odds with her expensive outfit...

Xie Ci shook his head, pulling back his thoughts, and seriously observed the girl before him.

There seemed to be a familiar feeling.

The girl stared at him nervously, her fragrant cheeks slightly puffed, her chest rising and falling slightly. Several times she opened her mouth only to close it again, looking like she wanted to speak but hesitated.

Seeing this girl whose behavior completely contradicted her clothing and temperament, Xie Ci decided to see what she actually wanted to say.

He stared at the girl's red pupils for quite a while. The girl's expression became determined, and she raised her head to meet his gaze.

You called out to me, but you want me to speak first?

"Farewell."

Xie Ci wasn't in the mood to get entangled with her. The scene of Miss Ye Li turning and leaving still lingered in his mind, impossible to shake off.

The countdown was still running. If he did nothing...

"No, you... don't go!"

Seeing Xie Ci about to leave, the girl couldn't hold back anymore and tightly grabbed Xie Ci's wrist.

With considerable force, she gripped so hard that Xie Ci's wrist actually hurt a bit.

Xie Ci turned back, looking in surprise at the girl as an unusual feeling burst from her. Her red eyes trembled, and her white teeth bit her red lips.

She pressed her lips together and finally spoke:

"How... how have you been lately?"

Clearly a stranger he'd never met, yet she asked such words as if they were old friends reuniting after a long separation.

This world was somewhat absurd.

However, Xie Ci planned to answer her seriously. After all, such seemingly caring words hadn't been heard from anyone other than Miss Ye Li for a long time.

Somehow, his mood seemed to improve a little.

"Not bad, no different from before."

Xie Ci spoke with feigned nonchalance, continuously monitoring the countdown situation.

The girl's hand trembled, and her other slender, pale hand reached over. Both hands gripped Xie Ci's wrist tightly together.

The girl looked down at Xie Ci's wrist, seeming to realize she was using too much force, and loosened her grip slightly.

Her hands were warm and tender, as if facing an old friend after a long separation. The words for reunion had been repeated countless times, rehearsed countless times in her heart, but when the actual meeting came, they stuck in her throat and couldn't be spoken.

"Do you... have someone by your side?"

The girl spoke quietly.

Xie Ci found it hard to imagine such a girl who gave him feelings of coldness and dominance mustering all her courage, using all her strength. She raised her head to look at him.

For the first time, he felt that a person's face could express such complex emotions.

Panic, fear, courage, shyness, and a trace of expectation—all intertwined on that flushed face. Her tears seemed to flow at the corners of her eyes, as if they would spill over at any moment.

Xie Ci really wanted to run.

The girl's gaze poured enormous emotion into him. Her crimson eyes radiated burning looks, staring straight at Xie Ci like this.

Xie Ci didn't know how to respond to the girl.

Why would a stranger pour such enormous emotion toward him?

Such a gaze felt like an attack, wanting to peel him like an onion.

It was somewhat suffocating.

Xie Ci closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and after suppressing the various emotions rising in his heart, he spoke:

"I suppose so. After all, who doesn't have someone to accompany them?"

The girl's lips pressed together lightly, with some redness at the corners of her eyes, showing a somewhat childish stubbornness.

But suddenly, she raised her eyes to look at Xie Ci, her gaze carrying unfathomable emotions.

After just a moment, she lowered her eyes again. The light in her eyes was hazy and unclear, only the hands gripping his wrist tightened more than before.

Xie Ci really wasn't in the mood to get entangled with her anymore. He broke free from those pale hands, glanced at the girl with her head lowered, and even the initial bit of curiosity disappeared completely. He didn't want to ask what was wrong with her anymore.

He just wanted to find a place to calm down properly.

"What's your relationship with that person?"

The girl suddenly said this. Xie Ci, who was turning to walk outside, paused.

Wind chimes.

So she was the person who came in at that time.

It seemed she had seen everything between him and Miss Ye Li.

But that didn't matter anymore. After all, there would be no one to accompany him in the future anyway.

But his steps still stopped, as if this question was indeed worth his investigation.

"She's my maid."

The answer in his heart, however, he couldn't bring himself to say.

...

Outside the window, the night was hazy. The late summer and early autumn evening breeze blew, refreshing and pleasant, with fine moisture permeating the air.

Perhaps the last rain of the ending summer.

Fifty minutes left on the countdown.

"Little Ci, you're so slow."

A familiar voice came. Xie Ci looked back in surprise.

Miss Ye Li was leaning lightly against the wall, arms crossed, eyes looking at him playfully.

She had already removed her wig, her ink-black long hair cascading over her fragrant shoulders and jade back. The maid outfit had also been removed, revealing the tight red T-shirt underneath. The originally loose hem was tied in a knot, exposing her fair little belly and slender waist. Her full, alluring curves looked even more plump and rounded under the denim shorts.

Her sexy and beautiful appearance was truly heart-stirring.

However, Xie Ci felt nothing at this moment.

He stared at Miss Ye Li in shock.

"Ye... Sister Ye Li, you didn't leave?"

"Hmph, so what's our relationship now?" Miss Ye Li's lips curved into a charming arc.
