Imperator: Resurrection of an Empire

Chapter 283: 280 -

The Principality of Christendom's Cardinal envoy had intruded upon a celebratory banquet in progress and attempted to establish their greivence towards the reigning monarchary of these lands only to find that the woman with whom they had been trying to meet with was not the weak and easily used woman with who they knew.

No even though she had with foreign assistance returned to reclaim her kingdom these men of the cloth had assumed she was a mere puppet under Julius's control, but as a puppet would equally be open to further interferance by her neighbors mainly the Church's might and spread of holy believers.

But instead the ruler in which they had snubbed was not the weak and easy to deal with Queen but instead the very ruler of Romanus a man to whom no real introduction was needed, and his latest words used in which to do so had proclaim his rise above his former station to become a king of kings.

An Emperor, and having just openly declared lordship over the recently reclaimed nation of Carthaginia, most shockingly to these men was the reaction from the surroundings.

Hundreds of nobles, generals, and high standing officials who had survived the Ramie purges were openly accepting the words of this man, this emperor.

"Oh... um we uh, we did not see you there your Excellancy a thousand apologies unto your royal personage."

"No need to waste time with flattery, you expressed the desire to return home in order to hasten our excommunication did you not, best to strike while the irons hot as they say and round up your horses and men and all those who wish not to live in these 'godforsaken' lands and head home to the golden pastures and sacred sites of your Principality."

"But..."

Tut

Raising his hand up, Julius shut down any possible reply, and as his Praetorian units moved to extract these men from the hall he could over hear quite the disturbance and excessive profanity being expelled from the mouth of the lead Cardinal.

How dare this upstart throw him out, he a great cardinal of the growing faith!

Following this up with how the fallen kingdom of Carthage had sold itself out like slaves or dogs licking at the feet for scraps of their new masters the Romans.

The final uttered words heard were about how they would rue the day, as the grace and mercy of the christians would now be wasted on them.

But this mattered little to Julius.

In the game religion was a relatively big factor and the lure of Christianity was great in comparison to the pre-established multi faceted pantheons of Greecia, Aegyptus, and Brittania.

Even Romanus as it stood now believe almost exclusively in the aincient pantheon of Roman gods, that had been handed down to them by the Roman Empire as their guiding light in the wake of the empires fall into ruin.

But there was one feature few chose to take upon themselves.

And that was the unique path of raising their own pantheon, expanding upon the already established to truly raise themselves up in the eyes of their people as a God-king.

Certainly not as a real god, at least not yet, but a mortal man so great, so legendary that he was like a demigod, on the cusp of becoming a god himself/herself.

This was the path Julius meant to walk down, his lore was already lain as the system interface had alerted him quite a few times over the last few months since his returned from the Greecian war that a new religion had taken root among the core provinces of his Kingdom, but while this was in fact a new religion it's worshippers were more than tolerant of the existing faith.

And thanks to the training of the leaves and branches much intelligence was gained giving rise to was could be called the Julian Doctrine of the Dii Consentes (Roman Pantheon) which in later months and years after the rise of his new roman empire might well be renamed to become the new Divus Julius (Imperial Cult) of this age deifiing the very existance that was their emperor as a god like entity.

Having cleansed the hall of the uninvited guests Julius simply stated.

"Continue"

And with no reason to argue the entire hall once more burst into merryment and indulgence.

Returning to his seat Julius took up his cutlery once more and began cutting into the fresh ocean fare placed before him on his plate.

But before he could bring the portioned food up to his lips, a quiet voice sounded out from his side.

"Is it alright? The power the church wields?"

"It's ok, there might be some issues in the beginning but that's what i'm here for, to sort out the mess Ramie left behind for us, so don't worry everyhting will be fine, this is afterall going acording to plan."

"Yes. Thank you, Emperor."

Serena ceased her worry and resumed partaking in the cooked food and provided wines.

Engaging in small talk with her new fiance and forgetting all about the darkness looming over her lands, while she couldnt say it wasnt her problem, it certainly was not her place to act as she wanted to right now.

If Julius said he had a plan, she like a good wife would dutifully follow her husband into hell and back to make sure that plan was successful.

And even as the Cardinal began to make good on his threat Julius simply enjoyed himself in the festivities as new of his engagement to Serena would be announced to the Capital city in the morning and the people of Carthage would celebrate en masse as they once more found themselves with a king, but not just any king but a king of kings, an Emperor and securing a blood-alliance with their ally Romanus and the equal partnership rising of the Romanus-Carthaginian Empire.

All the while The Theocratic body of Christendom would begin to prepare to survive the coming attacks from the newly risen Empire.
