Chapter 248: 246
Our time on the defesive was over, the Greecian peasent army had been broken and routed by the Romanus Auxillary army, that had followed in the advancing wake of the Romanus second legion.
The day had passed and the siege broken, the exhausted forces were relaxing the besieged were gorging on fresh supplies brought in by the Auxillary force.
Meanwhile Julius was absent from the feast, within his command tent atop the hill with commanders of the Germanian, and Dacian forces who'd come to their aid.
"King Julius, we are pleased to see you are well, and are glad to join you on your warpath!"
"Yes! Let the tales of blood flow, songs will be sung about our battles till the end of time!"
"Good good, pleasure to meet both of you commanders. As you noticed we've been here for some time now, so we're a bit behind on news of the warfront how are thing progressing?"
"Sir, well firstly all territory save for Athenia have been overtaken or surrendered to your crown, but..."
"Yeah, sadly it's not all good news?"
"Oh?"
Hearing this shocked Julius the fall of Greecia was almost a forgone conclusion at this point given their repeated defeats, the fall of their entire professional army, and then the fall or capture of thousands of their levies.
The commanders present shifted uncomfortably in place, each making eyes at the others silently trying to decide who should speak.
"Out with it, what don't we know?"
...
...
"Sir... While you and the second legion were engaged with the Greecian's here, there was a second army that advanced and met with the first legion... we had heard things were all good over here for the most part so advanced to relieve the first legion first."
"And? Given that you're here either you got there too late, or it was a smashing success allowing you to march back to relieve us with the second."
"Yes, we got to the battlefield just as it was starting and the Greecian host was thrown into disarray, before collapsing altogether."
"So... whats with the 'but' then?"
"Well once the battle was over and the scores being tabulated, we found that something had happened during the battle."
"And?"
"It seems while Her highness Yurasia was commanding the First legion somehow the enemy was able to infiltrate her general guard and..."
"..."
"Don't worry sir, no harm came to her that could be found, it seems the general has been captured however, but even during and now after the battle no demands have been sent to us, and seeing your shock it's clear they didn't take her here to force your surrender either."
"No... we were unaware of anything really going on in the world at large save for the little tidbits the scout could bring back while keeping themselves away from the Greecian's own scouts."
"Don't worry sir! We'll get her highness back!"
""Yeah!!""
"I'm sure you will... for now we need to get the chain of command back into place so we can get a grasp of all the information so we can start scouring the lands for her."
"YES!!"
The commanders left the tent behind to deal with their forces.
Yurasia's been captured...
The young princess who'd left her homeland behind to follow me in my pursuit of glory following my every action like a loyal puppy dog had been taken from me.
As I sat there in the dim light of my war tent deep under the surface my anger was roiling.
I know it's bad to say this but since being reincarnated as Julius my ego had taken a turn for the worst, it seems Julius's original possessiveness had survived my takeover and now it seems since one of my 'things' had been taken from me, the green monster had come out.
My Greed was normally placated by the crown the people placed upon my head, and the wealth being generated just from running a successful kingdom, and expansion of our lands.
In the years since my rebirth only momentarily had anything been taken from me before something greater was obtained in it's place.
But the loss of someone close to me...
If I found whomever was responsible I'll kill not only them but their entire lineage such that they won't leave even a single mark in this worlds history.

Two weeks later
After we won the siege of Fort Hill, sure uninspired name but we could always rename it later since to the victory goes the right to write the history books.
Once the battlefield was dealt with the Second legion regrouped together with the first legion and temporarily their merged to become the Imperial Legion since both sides had lost numbers and if Athenia was going to raise another army of size having a larger defending force would be better for them.
Meanwhile our scouts had been hard pressed looking for any signs of who or what had absconded with Yuri.
But even weeks later there was no news.
And when I say no new, I do mean nothing.
We had tried torturing captives from the battle, offering up rewards for information from the locals.
But everything we tried resulted in nothing, even as the armies continued to march on, Greecia had all but fallen, and now the remaining nation of Athenia was being marched upon by the Imperial Legion, and the Auxillary Legion.
Meanwhile Julius had returned to The Grand Fleet and boarded the Queen's ship headed straight back to Romanus.
He left his forces under the command of the Generals, and Haddin tookover as the overall commander of field operations.
Julius meanwhile needed to go home, he needed to ramp up Romanus's technology and in doing so increase their counter-espianoge skills to develop a way to find who in this world had been brash enough to steal Yuri from us... from me.
Even though Julius had returned aboard her ship once the news of why he had returned reached Queen Serena's ears she did not approach him and left him be for the time, sensing it dangerous to be near him at this point.
She couldn't fault him, since if anything had happened to him, she herself would have torn the world apart to make sure whatever injury befell him was dealt back hundredfold.
