I’m Not Naruto, But I Got a Better Bloodline

Chapter 104: Chapter 104: A Signal from the Moon

"You guys really know how to make trouble for me!"

Hiruzen rubbed his brow, trying to calm himself down. After a long moment, he finally seemed to steady his emotions.

"Forget it. I'll go meet him and see exactly what he plans to do. He's definitely marked with the Flying Thunder God seal, right?"

"That's right. Gen said so himself—I trust him," Jiraiya quickly confirmed with a nod. Hiruzen straightened his robes with a shake.

"Good. Last time, Konoha was in no position to act. But things aren't the same anymore."

At this point, he had no other choice.

He still hoped for peace—but when necessary, he would retaliate.

Besides, he had no fondness for Kumogakure.

Hiruzen had some confidence again.

"However…"

Something suddenly came to Hiruzen's mind, and he abruptly turned back around.

"Next time you all want to scheme something… could you at least be a little more discreet?"

"…"

"In extreme circumstances, that plan wouldn't be entirely unusable..."

"…"

Jiraiya fell silent under Hiruzen's glare. Tsunade let out a cold snort—at this point, she had a pretty clear idea of what was wrong with Konoha.

Only Kakashi kept his head down, saying nothing. There really wasn't anything worth saying.

After a while, Jiraiya murmured softly.

"As expected of the strongest Hokage..."

"???!"

"Wait, don't—old man, you just got out of the hospital, you shouldn't be fighting!"

"I ended up in the hospital because of you bastards!"

"Come on, stop it! At least this time we got intel on Kakuzu and learned more about the Akatsuki! And none of us ended up in the hospital!"

"You bastards—what am I, a ghost?!"

...

[Whoosh—]

Accompanied by a faint chakra fluctuation, Kitagawa Gen suddenly appeared in his room.

Looking around at the familiar space, he nodded in satisfaction.

"Small, but not bad."

He pushed open the window and looked out at the flowers on his windowsill, which were blooming with vibrant life. With another nod, he looked pleased.

Clearly, that brat Naruto had been showing up every day to water them.

"Guess the kid's not too bad after all."

Gen gave another approving nod, then made a decision.

"During the next Chūnin Exams, I won't sit next to him. I'll just stand behind him and keep watch."

It might not make much of a difference, but the pressure would probably feel a little lighter.

"Still… time to handle business first."

Gen scanned the surroundings briefly, then immediately created a Shadow Clone.

The next moment, his body vanished from the room once again.

Although he was now fairly certain that the Tailed Beast Chakra granted by the system wouldn't cause any serious problems, he still had to be extremely cautious.

After a few quick jumps through space, his figure reappeared inside a secluded mountain valley in the Land of Fire.

Lifting his head, he could even see the towering statues of the Valley of the End in the distance.

"This spot will do."

Kitagawa Gen didn't care whose Flying Thunder God mark had been left here—in the end, it didn't make any difference to him.

His current sensory range for Flying Thunder God had become incredibly vast, allowing him to face many enemies with a new level of calm and confidence.

"Still not far enough though… If only I could sense the mark in Rōran from home, that'd be ideal."

He hadn't forgotten that buried within Rōran was a true gift of nature.

He wasn't entirely sure what that chakra was, but he knew one thing—it contained an extraordinarily massive reserve of energy.

"If I can activate that chakra, it might even allow someone to cross space and time. I'd be a fool not to investigate such power."

As a blank-slate Ōtsutsuki, his potential and capacity for growth were exceptionally high.

Something like this gift of nature wasn't something he could ignore. At the very least, it could increase his own chakra reserves, couldn't it?

"But I still need to investigate it carefully. If that chakra turns out to be problematic, I need to be cautious. For now, I should focus on the task at hand."

With that thought, he sat down cross-legged. At the same time, he activated his system.

"System—use the chakra of the Seven-Tails."

The moment he spoke the words, a strange and powerful energy began pouring into his body without pause.

Just like the Three-Tails chakra from before, this chakra instantly began reacting with the power already within him.

Perhaps because of the prior fusion with the Three-Tails, the integration of the Seven-Tails chakra was even smoother this time.

And guided by his own chakra, the power of the Seven-Tails surged furiously toward his eyes.

"So the power of the Fruit really does target the eyes."

In Gen's memory, the Ōtsutsuki clan's tendency to swap eyes was utterly absurd.

One blink and it was a Rinnegan. Even the color made a difference in ability.

"And then there are ones like Deidara, opening up new paths with eyes on their hands."

While thinking this, Gen could feel his eyes swelling more and more.

With the continuous influx of the Seven-Tails' chakra, that pulsating sensation from earlier was intensifying dramatically.

Now, even the act of his eyes absorbing chakra had become noticeably more aggressive.

Thankfully, he had a massive amount of chakra at his disposal now. If it were anyone else, their chakra would've been completely drained on the spot.

"My bloodline's practically boiling... Looks like this time, the upgrade is going to be something serious."

Kitagawa Gen murmured softly to himself.

Lifting his head, he gazed up at the sky. In a haze, he seemed to sense something unique in the heavens, a subtle force tugging at him.

But it was still too early to think about that—there was something else on his mind right now.

"What direction will my eyes even evolve toward?"

To be honest, he still had some uncertainty about what form his eyes would eventually take.

He was definitely hoping for the Tenseigan, but he couldn't ignore other possibilities either.

"The first possibility… is probably still the Byakugan."

The Byakugan was the blueprint for all dōjutsu. Even Ōtsutsuki Kaguya's eyes had remained unchanged—only a new Rinne Sharingan had appeared on her forehead.

The second possibility would be the standard Rinnegan. While it seemed extremely rare right now...

"In the future, it basically becomes common as dirt!"

Grumbling inwardly, Gen could feel his bloodline reaching a boiling point—his entire being surging toward a critical transformation.

In that moment, his form began to shift.

Still seated in a cross-legged posture, he began to float gently off the ground, as though gravity had let go of him entirely.

At the same time, the chakra pulsing through him caused the dye in his hair to flake off in fine particles, falling away to reveal strands turning gradually white.

With his eyes still closed tight, it felt as if limitless chakra were gathering toward him from all directions.

The pulsing in his eyes grew stronger and stronger—the power gestating there swelling in intensity.

No one knew how much time had passed before the chakra's flow finally began to slow, and his body lightly descended back to the ground.

In the very next instant, he opened his eyes.

A dazzling, deep blue brilliance—like the gleam of stars—silently surfaced within them.

...

On the moon.

Inside the ceremonial hall of the Hamura Shrine, an elderly man with long white hair sat cross-legged on a cushion, his eyes closed in stillness.

Not far from him, a golden orb of light, encased in a strange metallic structure, pulsed ceaselessly.

It was the Tenseigan!

The greatest source of pride for their Moon Ōtsutsuki Clan—and their greatest reliance.

The power of the Tenseigan was beyond question.

"Toneri… you must grow up quickly."

The old man murmured softly. Yet at that very moment, he suddenly opened his slightly clouded Byakugan eyes and turned toward the golden Tenseigan beside him.

"What's going on? Why is the Tenseigan reacting?!"

The golden Tenseigan suddenly erupted with dazzling light. That blinding radiance seemed to illuminate the entire shrine.

This bizarre scene left the old man in disbelief—he hadn't activated the eye at all.

"Great Elder, what's the matter?"

"What happened? Why was the Tenseigan activated?"

Soon, two more figures entered the hall, both staring at the old man with confusion on their faces.

"It wasn't me," the Great Elder replied, shaking his head, his expression growing solemn.

"I didn't activate the Tenseigan, but it responded on its own."

"It reacted on its own?"

The Second Elder stared at the Tenseigan in confusion. By now, the glowing eye had gradually calmed down, returning to its original state.

"What's going on? Only the three of us are capable of using the Tenseigan. Even Toneri still hasn't—"

"Could it be… related to the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path?"

The Third Elder fell into a moment of silence, then suddenly voiced his doubt.

The disappearance of the Demonic Statue had prompted them to search far and wide. Over the years, they had occasionally sensed faint reactions from the statue.

But those responses were always too vague, making it extremely difficult to pinpoint its location.

"I don't know. It's hard to say anything for sure," the Great Elder sighed. The Tenseigan's sudden reaction had truly caught him off guard.

"Could it be… connected to the Hyūga Clan in the Lower Realm?"

Suddenly, the Second Elder spoke, his tone slightly grave.

"Don't forget—we investigated them years ago. Their main family's daughter is no ordinary girl. Her Byakugan—"

"Hmph. Even if it's the purest Byakugan, so what?"

The Second Elder was cut off by the Third Elder's cold snort.

"Without true Ōtsutsuki teaching and training, she won't get far. And don't forget—they are nothing but fallen ones, destined to perish alongside the failed world the Sage of Six Paths created!"

"Enough, both of you."

Seeing the Second Elder's face darken, the Great Elder quickly intervened to break up the argument.

"The will of our ancestors must be fulfilled. The fallen world will be destroyed. But our bloodline must also endure. That girl will be Toneri's companion in the future—say no more."

The Great Elder remained as authoritative as ever. His words instantly silenced the Second and Third Elders.

"Still, we need to proceed with a basis for this situation. We must monitor the Tenseigan without interruption."

Seeing that the two had quieted down, the Great Elder sighed and continued. "Let's set a schedule. We'll take turns monitoring it. If anything happens, track it immediately. Understood?"

"Yes," the Second and Third Elders replied in unison, nodding. For now, this was the only plan they could follow.

But the Third Elder still had some doubts. After a brief pause, he lowered his voice and asked, "Then… when will we move against the Lower Realm—?"

"This matter cannot be rushed," the Great Elder cut him off coldly. "We need to wait for Toneri to mature. That's all."

He glanced at the Third Elder, but his own heart was filled with conflicting thoughts. The situation in the Shinobi World was far more complicated than he had imagined.

Of course he had considered fulfilling their ancestor's will—to destroy that failed world.

But through his observations using the Tenseigan, he had seen that the Shinobi World contained many hidden places.

Three locations in particular were cloaked in mysterious natural energy. He couldn't say for sure what lay within them.

Even in the ancient records, their ancestors had left only vague references—at most a few lines like: "Within lies the power to alter the future."

Such ambiguous words were what troubled him the most.
