I'M NARUTO UZUMAKI

Chapter 316: CHAPTER 316

Theft

"Shisui's favorability towards you has reached recognition, and you have obtained the 'Uchiha Special Fire Release Collection.' As an Uchiha Jōnin, Uchiha Shisui is highly skilled in Fire Release techniques."

The system beeped, and Naruto froze in place, his expression turning somewhat strange.

He had attacked Shisui and taken his Mangekyō Sharingan, yet instead of his favorability decreasing, it had increased to the point of recognition. Was this the infamous "love" of the Uchiha Clan at work?

Suppressing his thoughts, Naruto accepted the system rewards, instantly gaining knowledge related to Fire Release techniques.

It would take at least a week to fully digest these new memories and wield Fire Release as fluently as a natural-born Uchiha.

Naruto couldn't help but sigh. The Uchiha influences in his body were growing stronger.

Not only had he mastered the Uchiha Interceptor Fist and specialized Fire Release techniques, but he also possessed a Mangekyō Sharingan. At this point, he was practically a full-fledged Uchiha in all but name.

Shisui, watching Naruto's eyes, grew uneasy. He sensed a hidden intent—perhaps even murderous intent—but couldn't be sure.

As an elite ninja, he had always been prepared to die for his clan. But to die after glimpsing the hope of saving the Uchiha? That would be truly despairing.

After a long pause, Shisui spoke cautiously, "How about forgetting it? I think life as a prisoner isn't so bad after all."

Inside Naruto's sealed space, Kurama watched the scene unfold, resting his chin on his hand.

"Naruto, you're really toying with this guy's emotions. He's completely rattled. But I have to admit, your plan to use Shisui to lure the Uchiha into defecting is clever. If they take center stage, no one will notice us leaving Konoha."

"Of course," Naruto responded nonchalantly. "But the real fun is in watching everything unfold."

Then, he turned to Shisui and said, "No, I'll help you retrieve the Sharingan. This plan is too interesting to pass up."

Hearing this, Shisui sighed in relief but also looked at Naruto with newfound anticipation.

If they could really take the clan out of Konoha, perhaps the Uchiha could regain their former glory.

Nightfall

The night veiled the world in darkness.

Naruto and Shisui appeared just outside Konoha.

Of course, the Shisui standing here wasn't his real body—it was merely a shadow clone, carrying half of his true strength.

Before them stood the massive wooden walls of Konoha, towering over ten meters high. While such barriers weren't an obstacle for skilled ninja, Konoha's perimeter was also protected by a powerful detection barrier—one of the village's most advanced security measures. It could instantly sense intrusions or defectors, covering the entire village.

Even Pain had been unable to bypass this barrier easily. Naruto was no exception. He turned to Shisui.

As a former member of the Third Hokage's Anbu, Shisui should know how to enter and exit undetected.

Sensing Naruto's gaze, Shisui let out a soft sigh and reluctantly explained the method to bypass the barrier.

Within moments, they infiltrated the village, avoiding the Chūnin sentries as they made their way toward the Uchiha district.

Standing on the outskirts, Shisui gazed at the familiar streets.

An indescribable emotion surged within him. He hadn't set foot in the Uchiha compound for months, and now, he was returning not as a loyal clansman but as a ghost—stealing from his own people.

Yes, theft. That was the only way to obtain the Sharingan now.

Though not every Uchiha awakened their Sharingan, the clan had accumulated a significant number of Sharingan over the decades. It was a long-standing practice for deceased clan members to pass down their eyes.

As the only living Uchiha in recent years to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan, Shisui knew exactly where the clan stored these precious dojutsu. He also knew the security measures in place.

But something puzzled him.

How did Naruto know so much about the Uchiha?

Could he really be an outsider? Or was he, in some bizarre way, connected to the clan's elders?

His ability to manipulate the Uchiha's movements, his knowledge of their techniques and history—Shisui couldn't shake the feeling that Naruto was more than he appeared.

Meanwhile, Naruto surveyed the Uchiha district with familiarity.

This was his second time here. He had already memorized the compound's layout and knew the best routes to their destination. Without hesitation, he took the lead, guiding Shisui.

Shisui noticed this but said nothing.

They carefully evaded the Uchiha Police Force patrolling the district and soon arrived near Naka Shrine.

Despite its remote location, Naka Shrine was of great significance to the Uchiha. It housed their most confidential secrets, and the underground storage chamber contained some of the clan's most prized possessions—including the Sharingan.

As they approached, an obstacle appeared in their path.

An Uchiha Jōnin stood in their way.

Shisui immediately recognized him—Uchiha Yashiro, a seasoned warrior possessing a fully matured Three Tomoe Sharingan.

Shisui frowned. "This is the eighth Jōnin stationed here tonight. Yashiro's a veteran. He's strong."

A Three Tomoe Sharingan user… Naruto grew interested. He had never fought a high-level Uchiha before.

But rather than engage, he casually asked, "Should I handle it, or will you? Or should we just take his eyes? It'd be about the same."

Shisui's expression darkened.

"There's no need for violence. Yashiro has a habit of drinking. He should leave soon."

They waited patiently, and as expected, Uchiha Yashiro eventually left the shrine, heading toward a nearby tavern.

Seizing the opportunity, they entered the shrine. Shisui activated a hidden mechanism, revealing a descending staircase.

Naruto let Shisui's shadow clone go first before following him into the underground chamber.

Inside, the room was lined with stone shelves, filled with jars—each containing Sharingan.

Shisui opened one jar.

Empty.

His brows furrowed. He checked another.

Empty again.

Something was wrong.

"There should be dozens of pairs of Sharingan stored here, a third of them at the Three Tomoe level," Shisui muttered. "But after counting, I see far fewer Three Tomoe eyes, and a lot of ordinary Sharingan are missing too."

Naruto frowned. "Maybe the other Uchiha Jōnin took them?"

"Impossible," Shisui shook his head. "Every Sharingan here is documented. No one would take them without a record."

Then, as realization dawned on him, his face darkened.

"I should have known… This is where Danzo got his Sharingan."

Naruto's eyes narrowed. He had assumed Madara or Obito were responsible, but now, Danzo seemed the likely culprit.

Stealing from the Uchiha under their noses… It was a move befitting the leader of Root.

Naruto turned to Shisui. "Don't overthink it. You're already stealing these eyes yourself. Just take everything and go."

"Take… everything?" Shisui hesitated.

Naruto's voice remained calm. "You already know there's a traitor. Why leave anything behind? Your current identity is 'dead.' No one would suspect a dead man."

Just then—

The sound of approaching footsteps echoed through the underground chamber.

Someone else was here.
