Chapter 11: Mortal Realm, Martial Realm
ang Hao Xuan finally let out a sigh of relief. He didn't want to be stifled in his cradle, and now, by casually aligning himself with a powerful figure, anyone thinking of moving against him would have to think twice.
With the purpose achieved, the celebration banquet quickly wrapped up. As the guests began to leave, Yang Batian called Yang Hao Xuan aside.
"Hao Xuan!" His voice was filled with emotion. "This is the first time I've been this happy in many years. Now that you've obtained such a great opportunity, I don't ask much, but I hope you will cherish it."
The implication was clear: He didn't want a repeat of the incident where Yang Hao Xuan's dantian had been shattered during an ill-fated attempt to seize a woman.
Yang Hao Xuan immediately straightened up and reassured him, "Father, don't worry. After what happened, I've learned a lot. I'll focus on my cultivation."
"Mm." Yang Batian nodded, his face softening with a look of approval. "Since you've grown up, it's time I told you about the Yang family and even the larger situation of the Tianhe Continent."
Upon hearing this, Yang Hao Xuan immediately became interested and listened intently.
"The Yang family!" Yang Batian continued. "You've probably noticed that the family is incredibly divided. The reason for this is that they don't respect me. When your grandfather died, only I and the Great Elder were present. He passed the family leadership onto me, but my brothers and cousins, of course, didn't believe it. They thought I had stolen what belonged to them. Now, they're trying to take it back. But don't worry, I've firmly established control over the Yang family. They can only try to make trouble through you…" Yang Batian spoke as though he was preparing to hand over the Yang family to his son.
"Wait…" Yang Hao Xuan suddenly interrupted, a frown on his face. "Father, you're still young. Don't speak as if you're done for. I'm not interested in the Yang family."
"Then where does your interest lie?" Yang Batian asked, his curiosity piqued.
"My? I aim for the world!" Yang Hao Xuan hesitated for a moment but then declared with a strong, confident tone.
"No wonder you're my son, Hao Xuan!" Yang Batian chuckled, a gleam of pride in his eyes. "But do you know what the world is like right now?"
"Uh… I'm not quite sure." In the past, Yang Hao Xuan had been a useless brat. His knowledge of anything outside the Great Yan Empire came only from rumors he'd overheard in brothels.
"The world?" Yang Batian's voice grew deeper. "I could talk about this for three days and nights, but let me keep it short. The Tianhe Continent is divided into two realms: the Mortal Realm, where we live, and the Martial Realm."
Yang Hao Xuan's confusion deepened. "What's the difference?"
"The difference?" Yang Batian scoffed. "The difference is massive! Our Mortal Realm is where people live day-to-day, struggling to survive, fighting for power, and fighting wars. But the Martial Realm is where the truly powerful reside. People there dedicate themselves to martial arts, form sects, and practice techniques. Their masters have powers comparable to that of immortals. The Martial Realm is where true strength lies!"
As Yang Hao Xuan listened, he gradually understood the broader picture of the Tianhe Continent. The more he learned, the more he realized how narrow his past world had been. The Tianhe Continent was vast, with countless empires. The Great Yan, which had seemed so mighty to him, was actually a weak country. And his own family, the Yang family, which he'd thought was powerful, was just one of many on the continent.
These empires and kingdoms made up the Mortal Realm.
The Martial Realm, however, was an entirely different world. It was composed of martial sects, many of which occupied mountains, islands, and other regions rich in spiritual energy. These sects didn't care about the disputes of the Mortal Realm. Their sole focus was on martial cultivation. Strength was their only currency, and their power greatly surpassed anything found in the Mortal Realm.
For instance, a small sect in the Martial Realm, which wouldn't be considered strong by their standards, could still receive tributes and offerings from various empires.
Hearing all this, Yang Hao Xuan began to yearn for more.
The strong? he thought to himself. What would it feel like to become the strongest? His heart raced at the thought. He had already made up his mind—if he was going to be transported to another world, he was going to make sure it was an extraordinary life!
After returning from his conversation with his father, Yang Hao Xuan couldn't shake the excitement bubbling within him. It felt similar to when he'd graduated from university and was preparing to venture out and make his mark in the world.
It was then that his eyes fell on the Changsheng Decision, and he eagerly began to study the cultivation method.
"The person who created this cultivation method must have been lazy!" Yang Hao Xuan muttered to himself. He had flipped the third page with the figure upside down, and his sharp intellect immediately recognized that this could work. On the fourth page, he tried all four directions. When viewed from the left, it made perfect sense.
This could only mean one thing: the genius behind the creation of this method must have been a novice in printing.
Fortunately, Yang Hao Xuan was clever enough to quickly prepare to try the first posture, eager to see what effect it would have. The first posture required the entire body to hang upside down, supported by the head.
It sounded very difficult, but for a practitioner of martial arts, controlling the limbs to achieve this wasn't a challenge. Yang Hao Xuan calmly inverted himself, his body hanging steadily over the bed.
After taking the sitting posture, he closed his eyes and began to absorb spiritual energy. As he did, he deliberately manipulated the meridian lines on the figure.
Immediately, Yang Hao Xuan felt a surge of heat in the meridians, and the cultivation speed began to increase.
"YES!" he cheered inwardly, closing his eyes again to fully immerse himself in the sensation.
Though this posture seemed simple, after maintaining it for a long time, dizziness and blurred vision were common side effects. However, Yang Hao Xuan felt increasingly clear-headed. The burning sensation in his meridian started to change, becoming a strange feeling as though it could be activated, but he couldn't quite do it yet due to his lack of skill.
Determined, he spent the whole night working on his cultivation, hoping to activate that meridian. But judging by the current progress, it would take months before he could reach that level. Thankfully, he had a Juqiqi Dan to help speed up his progress, though he planned to use it only when he had stabilized his cultivation at this stage.
The next morning, he didn't stop.
The maid, holding a washing basin, walked in and was startled to see him in such an unusual position. But remembering the news of his Earth-tier cultivation, she quickly relaxed. She glanced at him, then quickly left the room.
Cultivation methods were crucial for martial artists, and if the Young Master found out she had been spying, she feared he might even punish her.
The whole day passed, and Yang Hao Xuan didn't leave his cultivation until he felt the posture had been mastered. Then, he decided it was time to take the Juqiqi Dan.
He placed the Juqiqi Dan in his mouth, but instead of swallowing it immediately, he continued his cultivation. This was advice from his father, as taking the medicine during meditation would maximize its effect.
As the energy from the medicine began to dissolve in his body, Yang Hao Xuan felt a steady surge of power.
The next day, the weather was different from usual. The clear skies had turned dark, with ominous gray clouds hanging low over the land. The once-vibrant Red Leaf Forest now stood barren, its trees skeletal and weathered.
The chill of autumn was in the air.
Through the window, a cold breeze blew in, sweeping across the luxurious room. On the bed, a young man hung upside down in an incredibly strange posture. His chest rose and fell steadily, breathing with perfect rhythm.
The maid, having come in with the food, paused when she saw this. She was startled, but remembering the Earth-tier news from yesterday, she quickly calmed herself. She stole a glance at Yang Hao Xuan, then quickly left the room.
The food, cold and untouched, had been on the table for a while, but now, the maid brought it in again. This time, she was no longer afraid. She had gotten used to quietly adjusting things for Yang Hao Xuan. Somehow, she even felt he had become more handsome…
Flushing with embarrassment, she quickly shook off the thought.
"Why are you staring?" A deep, magnetic voice broke her thoughts, and she looked up to see Yang Hao Xuan's eyes finally opening after two days and two nights of meditation.
He smoothly sat up, stretched, and rolled off the bed, heading straight for the table. "I'm starving!"
Having cultivated for two days and nights, Yang Hao Xuan felt as if he had been in seclusion. Of course, if his body weren't still in the early stages of breaking through, he might have gone for over a month without interruption.
"Young Master!" The maid, standing aside, could no longer hold back her curiosity. After observing him
for the past month, she noticed Yang Hao Xuan had been a lot kinder and more approachable. Feeling playful, she tested the waters by asking, "What have you been doing these past few weeks?"
"What have I been doing?" Yang Hao Xuan casually picked up a piece of meat and threw it into his mouth. "I've been cultivating."
"Cultivating?" The maid's eyes widened. "Is it the kind of cultivation Grandma told me about? You know, where people become super strong?"
"Exactly!" Yang Hao Xuan smiled, noticing the maid's cuteness. He gestured to the seat next to him. "Sit down and eat with me."
The maid immediately lowered her head, blushing, and nervously replied, "I... I can't."
Yang Hao Xuan shrugged and pretended to savor the food. "You really don't want to? This is Kung Pao chicken! Look at the sauce... Mmm, so good!"
Hearing this, the maid's mouth watered as she looked at the dishes on the table. She nodded, then nervously sat down, picked up her chopsticks, and delicately took a bite. After she saw that Yang Hao Xuan didn't seem to mind, she allowed herself to fully enjoy the taste.
She had never tasted such food before, and the flavor was so good that she almost couldn't help but shout out in surprise. But worried about Yang Hao Xuan's reaction, she glanced at him, quickly covered her mouth, and secretly smiled.
Yang Hao Xuan shook his head with a wry smile before hearing the maid ask, "Young Master, I noticed your mouth has been strange these past two days. What's going on? Should I tell Father? He said it's nothing to worry about."
"It's a pill," Yang Hao Xuan explained. "It helps improve my cultivation. But I'm running low on it."
"Then just ask Father for more!" the maid suggested.
"Ha! You think it's that easy? Juqiqi Dan is pretty rare!" Yang Hao Xuan laughed.
"Don't worry, Young Master. Father loves you so much. If you ask him for some, he'll surely give it to you. That way, your cultivation will improve even more!" the maid whispered.
Her straightforward words made Yang Hao Xuan pause, and he couldn't help but think. The Juqiqi Dan had helped him make tremendous progress, but his realm was still far from advancing. If he had a few more, he could make a huge leap...
The maid's suggestion made him even more excited.
