I’m a Green Tea in a Matriarchal World

Chapter 10 - Mutual Love

Su Muqing’s hand rested on Su Yu’s head, gently stroking it, savoring the softness of his hair. A quietly pleasant feeling bloomed in her heart.

Physical closeness with someone else—how to put it—felt warm to Su Yu, though it also made him a bit shy.

Indeed, in Su Yu’s memories, he’d always been alone, long accustomed to fending for himself.

Though they were siblings, he’d only recently taken over this body and hadn’t fully adjusted to Su Muqing as his sister, so he couldn’t help feeling a little strange.

He tried hard to stay composed, gently pushing the hand off his head, and said to Su Muqing, “I get it. Hearing you say that, Sis, I… I’m really happy…”

Hm?!

Su Muqing’s brows furrowed slightly. Her brother had rejected her touch—did he dislike her now?

Su Yu’s sudden move sent Su Muqing’s mood plummeting. Her dark, gem-like eyes filled with nervous tension as she wondered what she’d done wrong—why did he suddenly hate her?

But then it hit her…

“Could it be that night from a couple days ago—he figured it out? He understood?”

Realizing this, Su Muqing’s pupils widened sharply.

Sure, that incident was pure coincidence, and it wasn’t her fault, but boys could be unreasonable.

Su Muqing feared nothing in heaven or earth—except her precious little brother growing distant over this.

Her mind raced, the more she thought, the more anxious she grew.

Seeing Su Muqing suddenly freeze, her face and body tensing up, Su Yu found it oddly amusing.

“What’s wrong, Sis? Are you sick? Your face looks awful.”

Pale one moment, flushed the next—it piqued his curiosity.

I… I thought you—

“Cough, cough.”

Su Muqing quickly coughed twice, dodging the topic.

Then they started chatting about trivial things—like how he’d been lately, if he lacked anything in food or clothing, or if there was something he particularly wanted…

Su Yu felt a bit bored being peppered with questions, but being cared for like this for the first time wasn’t half bad.

Savoring the tea’s flavor, he grew more at ease as they talked, and then something struck him.

The system needed spiritual energy to activate. He couldn’t generate it himself, but what about others? What about cultivators?

He wouldn’t spill his secret to a stranger, of course—but if someone was utterly devoted to him, believing every word he said, that’d be different.

Like the person right in front of him…

“Sis…”

At that moment, the young man’s brows curved, his eyes twinkled with a smile, and his tender lips lifted into a faint arc. Su Muqing froze, captivated.

Lowering her head to sip her tea, masking the odd flutter in her chest, Su Muqing took a deep breath and asked, “What’s up, little brother?”

Su Yu said, “I’ve got something I need your help with. Would you be willing?”

If his idea worked, Su Muqing might have what he needed inside her.

But how to explain this to her? Su Yu felt a headache coming on.

“Just tell me what it is. If it’s something you want, I’d pluck the stars from the sky for you.”

A bead of cold sweat slid down Su Yu’s forehead.

Just how much did she dote on him?

“It’s not a big deal. I just want to hold your hand.”

“H-hold… hands?” Su Muqing broke into a fit of coughing, her expression turning strange.

It was simple enough—practically effortless—but more than the act itself, she fixated on what it might mean…

“Little brother, don’t get the wrong idea—I’m your sister!”

Sure, Su Muqing loved Su Yu, but only as a sister loves a brother.

She was deeply brother-obsessed, yes—but that was it!

Right, she’d never once imagined a day when she and her brother could love each other even more, living together forever—him playing at home while she went out to earn money to support him…

Nope, never thought about that! Absolutely not!!

“What—what are you saying?!” Su Yu blurted out, his face flushing red. “I just want to hold your hand, that’s all—nothing more!”

Exactly. Su Yu’s sole aim was to use Su Muqing to activate the system—more precisely, to tap into her spiritual energy. No ulterior motives, no schemes.

“That’s it?”

“That’s it!”

“Really?”

“Of course!”

Facing Su Muqing’s skeptical gaze, beads of cold sweat dotted Su Yu’s forehead.

Staring into those flickering, beautiful eyes, had he done something wrong?
