Chapter 24: Chapter 11.1: Room 415 and Lingering Spirits
On Sunday afternoon, a notification was posted on the dorm bulletin board:
"Student Fu Yunshen has applied for a change of room. He will now reside in Dorm Room 415."
Shi Mu stared at the message, stunned.
She hadn't expected him to move out so soon—so suddenly.
Room 304 had become familiar. Their interactions, however minimal, were beginning to shift from cold silence to guarded awareness. Now, it seemed that progress had vanished overnight.
Shi Mu's first thought was that it might be her fault. Perhaps he was uncomfortable living with someone who talked too much—or someone who didn't talk enough. Or maybe he had simply had enough of her presence altogether.
But deep down, Shi Mu knew the real reason.
Ghosts.
Dorm Room 304 had been plagued by the ghost of Fu Yunshen's stepmother. The boy's every glance at shadows, his silent nights of wakefulness—it all made sense now. He had been quietly enduring the hauntings, hoping they would fade.
Now, perhaps because of Shi Mu's presence, the ghost had stirred again.
The system buzzed in her ear.
[Host, are you going to stop him?]
Shi Mu didn't answer.
[Warning: If Fu Yunshen becomes isolated, his psychological condition may worsen. Chance of violence: 67%. Risk of Brotherhood Progress Loss: 40%.]
"Fine," Shi Mu muttered. "I'll go after him."
