'That was interesting if nothing else.' Thought the blonde girl while her [Shadow Shift] was casually cancelled by the Witch.

It seemed as if her level would rise with "Milestones" since finishing her Magical Awakening had somehow synchronized her soulscape. And in turn, earned her two extra levels.

And talking about those levels, she ought to use those status points...

But now the question was...Where to that was the question...

For now, she would equalize some of her stats to not get an unbalanced sheet. So...

Wisdom 12>22

Strength 12 > 20

Constitution 12 > 20

Agility 12 > 16

And done, now her status was more balanced all over the way, and on a side note she got a nice extra bonus of 10 slots for spells and mandalas too!

Not that she had any of either.

She would raid the library searching for spells later on...

But for now, she should be paying attention to the teacher. Who was casting some kind of spell while writing a complex mandala with her finger in the air.

Maybe she hadn't prepared the awakening one? That seemed like a bad plan on her part.

"[Awake]" And like that and with another snap of her fingers the mandala shined once before dissipating.

But everyone else that was asleep awoke one by one. By this point, Rossie, herself, and Smartass were once again dressed in their respective uniforms.

The only difference was that there was an extra motif on their badges. Rossie had hearts, smartass had a book...

And her? She had stars as the motif.

How does a black star symbolize shadows? God knows.

"Well, that will be all for now. Everyone keep practicing the [Shift] if you don't know what to call it after achieving it. Call it [Mystic Shift] some of you will probably call it some different thing. As a rule of thumb, don't use it in front of people. " Started her formal class the teacher.

"In the library, there are several books about the [Shift Spell] it can be personalized to a certain extent. But for that, you will need to build a [Magic Circle] in your [Soulscape]. " And so the teacher started writing the names of several books on the whiteboard.

[About the Astral Shift], [Dream Shift and her effects on non-magical beings], [Lunar Transformation and how to make it showy], and finally [Stellar Shift, a comprehensive guide about why this one is the best].

Somehow she could get an idea of who wrote that one.

"My personal recommendation is [Mystic Shift, basic add-ons to have and personalization]." And with such, she showed the book with that and projected a QR code with some non-verbal spell.

...Why does that book have a QR Code?

"It was my Thesis for graduation and I keep working on it, this is the seventh iteration. It has from basic transformation sequences to a low-level memory wipe spell built in. So if you need to use it in public at the very least the people watching will not remember about it." So that was how the magical girls got away with those showy transformations?

"It is not fail-safe, if someone has some degree of magical resistance they will remember. You will need to personalize the spell as you grow to make it work with your natural affinity as a booster. The closer the [Memory Wipe] spell is to your [True Affinity] the more powerful it will be." And on that note, she brought another extra book.

[Star & Travel Affinity and examples of Spell Add-Ons for Stellar Shift] Why was that one more serious?

"This is a prime example, if any of you had a [Affinity] for [Space], [Cosmic] or [Teleport] you would need to study this one to improve your [Shift]." Finished the teacher placing the book on her desk.

No attempt to say the name of the author or show a QR Code for it...

Not that Elizabeth would use it, the few that awoke managed the [Shift] didn't need that one.

But somehow Rossie keeps looking at it and then looking at her...

Ugh...She would grab it on the way out.

"And lastly, never share your [True Affinity] with anyone. Knowing one's affinity can help higher tier [Mages] to [Scry] your soulscape. The less information they have the harder they have to work. Part of the reason why everyone focuses their [Securty Spells] on the [Shift Spell] if you need to prioritize something. Then Prioritize obfuscation of name and face." And with that, the class was ending.

"If you need to ask questions about [Affinity] or the [Shift Spell] my free hours are on Saturday Morning. I can help with basic [Security Spells] for most basic elemental affinities, so come and ask if you need help." Said with a kind smile Agatha.

So she could be a nice teacher!

"That is if you need help. I will not entertain smart ass or people that just want extra points. I will not tolerate that kind of behavior, so if I find out you are wasting my time...God help you all because you will need that help." Yikes... Message received.

She would need to ask Mother why this teacher was sending such harsh vibes her way.

Did she got duped by Mother or something?

"Eli-Eli, should we ask for a slot to ask questions?" Asked the pink-haired girl to her left.

Did she not get the message?

"We should use this chance since only we managed this [Spell], later on we might not even get a chance!" I mean, this girl was right.

Smart-ass didn't seem like he would ask questions, not yet anyway.

But...

"Let's leave it for later, the teacher said to try ourselves first and then ask later, besides...We don't know what affinity we have." Well, she did know her affinity.

And Rosie's...And smart-ass...

But only Smart-ass could benefit from the teacher's knowledge.

Rossie was healer affinity...And that didn't sound like a [Basic Elemental Affinity].

Her [Shadow Weaver] affinity...Or was it [Origin]?

That thing didn't sound like a basic one either...

I mean, was a [Shadow] an element even?

Perhaps the best way would be to ask?

And so, the blonde girl raised her hand, she didn't want to, but she ought to save effort when possible, and asking questions when one doesn't know is the way to go.

"Yes Miss StarBright?" at least the witch didn't sound annoyed at her for raising her hand.

"What are the [Basic Elements]?" Said the blonde girl "[Affinity] wise." And finished her question with the point she wanted to highlight.

"..." The teacher just kept staring at her.

"Miss Agatha?" said the blonde girl trying to wake her from whatever weird meditation she just entered.

"Oh right, basic affinities..." and mechanically the teacher started writing on the whiteboard again.

Didn't the class end teacher?

Did you forget to write this?

"This would usually be taught at a later date when most of you got a hang on the [Shift Spell] and at least one of you managed to use it." Said the teacher while writing.

"And then we would wipe the memory of everyone that saw that and give a stern warning to not use that spell with people around if you haven't modded it for passive memory wipe." Finished the Witch and then pointed at the whiteboard that now had a table.

"The ones with a mark are known to have evolved to something else with enough mastery." Said the Witch pointing at the wind[Affinity] "This for example, there is a Magical Girl that evolved her [Affinity] from [Wind] to [Thunder]." That said she wrote [Thunder] next to it.

Wasn't [Lighting] the evolved one?

"And before you say it, she didn't get [Lighting]. She didn't have enough understanding so she got stuck at [Thunder]. According to her that was her limit, so she never went beyond that either." And on that note, Agatha added an extra line below the table.

"So be sure about what you try to [Evolve] your [Affinity], if you make the wrong turn or your understanding isn't enough you can end stuck with something worse than you had before." That sounded more to herself than to the class.

Since most of the students would probably forget this by the point they were capable of evolving their Origins.

She wondered if advanced ones could evolve...

That felt like a bad question to ask though.

"Are those all the [Affinities]?" Asked the pink-haired girl to her left.

"No, [Affinities] are a close regarded secret, since anyone can cast any spell with enough study there isn't a good way to know what [Affinity] someone has. If I memorize the spell and mandala I could cast [Healing] Magick even if my [Affinity] wasn't that." And grabbing a knife from her belt the witch cut her finger.

And after that, she snapped her other hand's fingers and a mandala showed up and started giving green light that somehow healed the cut.

Even if it was slow.

"As you can see, the casting is slow, if you could perceive mana. You could see how I'm wasting way too much mana on this. But I can cast it, if I dedicate enough effort I could probably pass as a D-tier Healer too. But it would be difficult since [Healing] isn't my main affinity. It's a waste of effort." Yeah. She could see that.

If the [Affinity] the teacher talked about was the [Magic Origin] then she should probably focus on [Shadow] Magicks.

"Then can advanced and Exotic affinities evolve too?" chimed in the blue-haired smartass.

"In theory, any [Affinity] can evolve. You need to find what [Spells] you can cast more easily and focus on that type, then in your [Soulscape] find the [Core] and evolve it. The method varies from person to person. But it will be instinctual." Hmm...

Somehow she doubted it would be as easy as implied.

But still, it was good to know.

"And with that, the class is dismissed, we already ate more time than needed with those questions." Said the witch while erasing the stuff on the whiteboard.

"The books can be accessed in the library, only the most basic ones are on the internal net. The examples I gave only exist inside the library and can't be taken away. You can't take notes either so study inside and practice inside if needed." And so her first magical class finished.

And she had too much to think about now.

She didn't know how she got back into her apartment with the pink-haired girl. Nor how said pink-haired girl gave her a pair of books on [Space Affinity]. Weren't this supposed to be locked behind doors in the library?

So in theory [Affinities] or [Magic Origin] if she went by her [Identify] and [Status] could evolve.

But not all evolutions were beneficial.

"Say Eli-Eli...What books do you think I should focus on?" But she got distracted by the pink-haired girl.

She looked...Distraught.

"What calls for you Rossie?" That was one weird thing to see on this hyperactive girl. Acting all shy and downcast.

"I always wanted to help and be a [Shining Star], to bring [Hope]." Said the girl...Well, that was rude to say right now, the being in front of Elizabeth was more a [Magical Girl] right now if those were her problems...

"If you want to give hope to others if you want to bring [Salvation]...Then a [Healer] might be a good start. It isn't a basic [Affinity] so it might be hard at the start. But I'm sure you have a talent for it." And so, she answered with a smile to the girl with an origin both simple and profound.

She knew that Rosaline Singh had the talent for being a Healer, she could see her [Origin]. But how do you explain that to others?

"Hmm...I will try it then. To be honest I felt something watching the teacher's healing spell. Like..."Said the girl while thinking hard for a word "Resonance...?" and in the end that was the word she used.

"Well, that means you might have a talent for [Healing] after all, let's see if we can get you a book on that while I search for my [Affinity]." So that's how a genius acts...

She could understand why some people might hate them. A look at a spell and they could feel the calling of their [Origin]?

That's bullshit.

"But you already have the book Eli-Eli..." said the pink-haired girl.

Right...

"Well, I still need extra books to personalize my [Shift] spell. So I needed to go anyway." Now was her turn to see if there were [Shadow] spells to interlock in her [Shadow Shift].

And to find a way to make it not obvious.

Maybe she would try to Bambozlee everyone into thinking her [Affinity] was space like the teacher and Rossie though?

But then if Mother ever found...There would be either a reckoning or some awkward explanations to give.

Also, she had to think about the [Hero Suit] too...

The class was scheduled but Father would probably pester her for one since she had [Triggered] too.

So much work...

And she just wanted to be a lazy leech in a bed somewhere...
