Chapter 10: Part 10: Promise and Departure
After Mr. Yamada asked me to take some care of Junn
(I leave the kitchen and go through the living room)
(Misaki was sitting on a sofa and when she saw me she avoided my gaze with a blush on her face)
(Maybe she's still embarrassed about what happened this morning...)
(...)
(Feeling the uncomfortable air that was beginning to form, I leave the living room and go to Junn's room)
(Already at the entrance I knock on the door)
knock...knock...knock....
(A voice is heard from inside)
Oh....please come in
(I grab the door handle and go in)
(Junn was in front of me, it had only been a day since he got infected but he looks terrible...)
(He had such a pale complexion in which the color of his veins stood out more than his skin)
Well this is somewhat disappointing
your reaction is a little boring I was hoping that seeing my state would impact you a little more... ha... ha... cough.. cough
(apparently Junn could read my expression somehow)
I....it's just that....I've seen worse things out there
(Junn drops his sarcastic tone)
I see....cough....cough
I.....I'm sorry
the truth is that a lot of things have happened in one day, many of which are difficult for me to assimilate and accept...
you must have heard it yesterday, right, about the virus, but my father spoke to a friend of his from the army and he said something crazy in my opinion...cough...cough
I will die and come back to life...
can you believe it
I...I see
(my expression darkens and apparently Junn noticed it)
hey...friend...don't worry...cough.cough
maybe you think it's your fault that I got bitten but it was my own actions that led to me being bitten
you may think that I didn't know about the virus at the time but even so considering the risk of infection, I would have done the same, after all it is what my father would have done
save others like a hero...
I admired my father, there was a time when I witnessed how my father repelled and stopped a man who was assaulting a woman...cough...cough
as a child I thought about being a police officer when I grew up but my mother was against the idea because she considered it to be a very dangerous job. Of course at the time I was against giving up my dream but after thinking about it I couldn't bear the idea of my mother suffering because of me.
My mother was a beautiful woman and very dedicated to whatever she did. But she was born with a fragile body, so she spent most of her childhood in a hospital. Where she apparently found her calling, that of being a doctor, and she achieved it despite her fragility, but she is still susceptible to fainting if she feels strong emotions constantly, compromising her health.
That's why I gave up the idea of being a police officer, but it seems that inside me I refused to let it go. That's why when I saw you being attacked I thought that maybe this was my chance, the chance to help someone else...
At least for a moment I was a hero like my father, so it wasn't so bad after all...cough...cough
(Junn with a slightly embarrassed tone and clears his throat)
hum...humm
Well I think this conversation is getting unnecessarily long so now I'll go to the main point for which I asked you to come
I wanted to thank you first of all for bringing Misaki but I know that what I'm going to ask you next may sound selfish but my concern for Misaki is the most important thing now so:
Could you please take care of Misaki?
Although of course you won't be the only one, I'll ask my father to take care of her too, but he'll be more focused on taking care of my mother than Misaki, so you're the most suitable person to take care of her now, so please, I ask you...cough...cough
(Junn puts his hands together and bows)
I...I'm sorry but I'm going to have to refuse, I'm thinking of exploring and trying to collect resources. The way things are going, it's possible that the situation will continue indefinitely, so I see it necessary to go collect resources that will be useful to us in this situation.
(this is necessary if we want to survive the bandits' attack)
I see...
(Junn looked a little disappointed, well I guess I can't just leave it like that)
sigh...uff(sigh)
(I know this might put me in dangerous situations but I don't think I can refuse his request)
I told you I'll be outside collecting resources but I promise I'll do my best to take care of her once I'm done collecting.
You have my word...
(well I think this is something I can do for him, after all without his help I would have been the one in his place or maybe much worse)
(Junn a little surprised relaxes his expression and smiles)
thank you....
(after that we had a brief chat about trivial things and past anecdotes)
(...)
(After talking about various things Junn gives me a backpack that looked like a military one that apparently belonged to his father and he gave it to him as a gift. But now he gave it to me as thanks for bringing Misaki)
(Well this backpack was the same as the one the protagonist used in the game so it will be very helpful)
(Once outside Junn's room)
Well now I have to find Misaki and ask for the key to his room
(I head to the living room)
(On a sofa was Misaki who apparently was trying to contact someone with her cell phone)
ugh... again without any answer
I hope dad and Anne are okay...
Sorry, Misaki
(Surprised)
Hey, Mr. Takuya, what are you doing here!
Oh, sorry if I scared you, I just wanted to apologize for this morning
Hey...this morning?
(misaki directs her gaze towards my friend and avoids my gaze)
(misaki with a tone of shame in her voice)
oh...this morning, as I already told you it was my fault that that happened...
I should be the one to apologize...
(misaki continues to avoid looking at me)
(ugh how should I now ask for the key this is awkward)
sigg...uff(sigh)
I know it was a little awkward what happened this morning but I don't know if we can forget about it and start over...
(misaki gives me a brief look)
ermm well we could start with what you call me the truth is that you calling me Mr. Takuya makes me sound like an old man so if you don't mind you could just call me Takuya
(misaki with an embarrassed blush, stops avoiding my gaze and speaks to me)
okay takuya...
(well this is somehow progress)
(after that we were Talking about this whole situation, about Junn and about trivial things. As a way to dispel this air of discomfort)
(After all that trivial talk I proceed to tell him about my plan to collect resources and use his apartment as a warehouse)
(After listening, Misaki nods and gives me the key to his apartment)
Please be careful out there
Don't worry, I'll have it
(After getting Misaki's key, I head to my room and proceed to take everything that could be useful to me)
(After having everything ready I head to the kitchen to say goodbye to Mr. Yamada but when passing through the living room I surprisingly meet Mr. Yamada and Misaki)
I'm talking about the King of Rome
It seems that it is true that you are leaving son, I already know about Misaki but I must ask you this for the last time
Are you sure you want to go out there?
If you are worried about resources, we still have a considerable amount, so I don't see the need for you to expose yourself to danger, or at least not too soon
(No, this is necessary, because as time goes on, the radius of the supplies will decrease, so it is necessary to collect everything as soon as possible)
I appreciate your concern, but this is necessary
I see, well, it seems that I won't be able to stop you
I suppose that taking risks is something for young people
Sigg uff (sigh)
I want you to have this
(Mr. Yamada takes a revolver out of the side of his pants, in which there was a kind of belt)
What... this?
Take it, it's for your safety, but I want you to promise me that you'll use it wisely and not use it on people unless necessary
I...
(this is strange, isn't this revolver supposed to be given to the protagonist when the house is raided by bandits?)
(being given it to me now really took me by surprise, but a gun could increase my chances of survival so it wouldn't hurt to take it)
I thank you very much, Mr. Tanaka
(I take Mr. Yamada's gun and some bullets that he gives me)
(in total I received a revolver and 16 bullets, counting the ones that were loaded inside the revolver)
(but when I put the revolver away, it was too big so there was no way it would fit in my pants pocket)
(Mr. Yamada nods, seeing my little problem)
Well, it was a good idea to bring this, just stay still
(Mr. Yamada takes out what appears to be a gun holster)
Look carefully, son, this can be a little complicated to put on, so while I help you put it on, I'll show you how to do it so you don't have any problems if you ever take it off and have to put it back on
(after Mr. Yamada put it on me and told me how to put the holster on)
Ready
Thank you very much, Mr. Yamada
Don't worry, son
(Mr. Yamada stands up)
Well, I just ask that you be careful and that you can come back whenever you want. The doors of my house will always be open for you
Please be careful, Takuya
Don't worry, Misaki and Mr. Yamada
I'll be back...
(I then open the door) door and I go out of Mr. Yamada's house)
(in front of me were the streets in a mess and traces of blood that had apparently already dried)
(with backpack in hand, the revolver and my bat I entered the city)
