Chapter 93
93. The Way Of Subjugation
“Welcome, Jack Jarce. To my castle.”
Levin, seated, gracefully crossed his legs.
“…Jillian, stand down.”
“Yes, Levin-sama.”
The woman in a dress, who had been waiting by his side, nodded and left.
“Your castle?”
Jack stated without averting his gaze from Levin.
“This is the lord’s castle, isn’t it?”
“Ah, the lord is relaxing in another room. After all, he’s just a figurehead. I effectively govern this town.”
Jack grimaced, wolf-like, at the smiling boy.
“How do you even know my name?”
“I looked into it. It would be lonely not to know the name of someone who will eventually be an ally, a friend.”
Levin declared shamelessly.
“I’m not interested in becoming your friend or ally.”
“That’s unfortunate. Then I’ll choose the path of subjugating you by force—”
Still seated, Levin snapped his fingers.
Four shadows emerged from behind.
A massive swordsman towering over two meters.
A thin, emaciated youth in a robe.
An elderly man dressed as a priest.
And a young woman in leather armor.
“These are four of the seventy-seven rank S adventurers in the world—the strongest, and they’re already under my command.”
Levin explained with a smile.
“Your physical abilities, empowered by the gods, are indeed the strongest. No human can match you. But in battle, you are an amateur. Can you stand against professional adventurers?”
“Well, we’ll see.”
Jack understood that these opponents were on a completely different level.
He lowered Miranda, who was on his shoulder, and gently knocked her out.
“Ugh…ugh…”
The female knight collapsed, clutching her stomach.
To avoid her being caught in the battle, he laid her down by the wall.
“Target him. If possible, don’t kill him.”
Levin ordered coldly.
“Yes, my master.”
The four voices echoed in unison.
“Rank S means the highest rank, right?”
Jack turned back, ready.
Any one of them could take down an entire city with ease.
Such a threat.
Such power.
But—Jack felt no fear.
“I’m Baruga of the Flame Edge.”
The massive swordsman stepped forward.
“Such flashy armor! That kind of showmanship won’t work on me!”
Baruga swung his flame-red greatsword as his title suggested.
Jack didn’t dodge.
With a dull thud,
“What…!?”
Baruga’s sword broke easily.
“Sorry, it’s not just for show.”
The sword was likely famous, but Jack’s skin, strengthened by divine power, boasted even greater defense.
“And this isn’t armor—it’s just skin.”
“Tch.”
Baruga clicked his tongue and retreated.
“Then how about this—”
This time, the mage cast a tornado spell.
“I’ll join in!”
The spirit user summoned five spirits simultaneously, launching an attack.
“Fail of the Magic Wind and Ally the Deep Green Priestess—while you may be able to block physical attacks, how about magic?”
Levin smirked as he watched.
“Physical or magical, it’s the same to me.”
Jack first rotated his arms, generating a fierce wind that neutralized the tornado spell.
Next, he kicked away the five attacking spirits one by one.
The sound of shattering glass echoed.
But—
“What is this…!?”
The spirits vanished with almost no resistance.
“These were all mirror images created by the spirits!”
Ally, the spirit user, shouted.
“Fail, shoot!”
“Leave it to me—”
The mage Fail raised his giant staff.
“[Elspia]!”
Seizing the moment when Jack’s attention was drawn to the spirit images, a spear of fierce wind struck from behind.
Jack didn’t turn.
He didn’t need to.
“What…!?”
The wind spear hit directly, but it couldn’t scratch his black armor-like reinforced skin.
Jack continued advancing.
“I’ll block it! I, Rett of the Holy Light! Supreme God Garezza, grant us the power to protect!”
The priestly man created a shining barrier.
“Out of my way.”
Jack struck with his fist.
Black fists clashed with the light barrier, scattering dazzling sparks.
“…Tough.”
Even Jack’s enhanced punches were absorbed by the barrier’s immense defense.
“But compared to his power—”
He recalled a boy he had once fought alongside.
A boy who used an absolutely unbreakable defense skill to protect others with all his might.
Unlike Levin, who stood before him, that adventurer…
“Shatter.”
Jack concentrated all his distributed power into his fists.
The destructive force skyrocketed, and the barrier before him shattered into pieces.
“Impossible! My ultimate technique, destroyed by just one punch—”
Rett, the priest, screamed in shock.
“How can this be…?”
“Sorry, but my power is—”
Jack swung his fist again.
Not at Rett, but at the air.
The resulting shockwave blew Rett and the other three away like a gust of wind.
“God’s power.”
He murmured, turning back to Levin.
“Four rank S adventurers couldn’t last a minute…?”
The boy’s beautiful face stiffened.
Was this development a miscalculation?
Or was even this part of his plan?
“You’re next.”
Jack slowly walked toward Levin.
