I was Kicked Out of the Hunter’s Guild

Chapter 13 - I Don’t Listen to Orders From Those Weaker Than Me

The hunters descended from the aircraft and landed on the ground below.

Despite jumping from a height of several tens of meters, none of the trained hunters sustained any injuries.

This was thanks to their enhanced physical durability, far beyond that of ordinary humans, as well as the safety equipment they had been equipped with.

After landing, the members of the 28th Guild quickly regrouped.

They had arrived at Point B, a small, ruined town that lay in complete desolation. Their target, Area A, was the old city center located to the north of their current position.

After confirming the area’s safety one final time, the guild members stood by, waiting for further instructions from the adjutant.

Before long, the adjutant’s voice came through their earphones, signaling the completion of the final personnel checks.

“Then, as per the briefing, we will now proceed with the operation. We will divide into two units and move toward the Abyss colony to the north. Observations suggest a total of three to five skirmishes will occur before reaching the target point. In case of any emergencies, I will alert you immediately. Please begin moving now.”

With those instructions, the operation officially began.

While emergencies would be handled with real-time commands from the adjutant, for now, each team had to move and fight according to their assigned roles.

“Well then, see you in a bit,” Isena said. “Be mindful of the ammo shortages.”

“Yeah… I’ll try to manage,” Yujin replied, her voice betraying some unease.

The group was divided into two units, each led by one of the S-class hunters—Isena and Yujin.

The objective of the operation was straightforward: to annihilate every last Abyss in the colony. To ensure no creatures escaped, the two units would launch a pincer attack from both sides.

‘I’m not really used to missions like this,’ Isena thought as she moved with her team, a subtle undercurrent of unease swirling in her mind.

Even though the Rosecutter’s power had been halved due to the lack of charge, she believed it wouldn’t be a significant issue. After all, they were only dealing with a B-class Abyss mission.

Determined to push past her lingering anxiety, Isena took the lead as usual, staying one step ahead of the others. She wanted to be the first to take down any Abyss that might appear in their path.

And then…

“…They’re here.”

The faint sound of movement and a peculiar, foul smell immediately set her on edge.

Gripping her sword tightly, Isena instinctively dropped into a combat stance.

Moments later, as she had anticipated, black creatures began crawling out of the ruined buildings ahead.

They were the size of slightly larger dogs, their grotesque forms reminiscent of spiders.

Abyss Spiders.

As their name suggested, these creatures had spider-like appearances and were considered the weakest, most common Grade-1 Abyss.

‘A total of five, huh?’

To her, these were nothing more than pests—barely worth her attention.

Deeming it unnecessary to activate the Rosecutter’s full power, she dashed into their midst and swung her blade.

“Kreeeek!”

One of the spiders collapsed with a piercing shriek, cut down effortlessly by her first strike.

The remaining spiders tried to swarm her, taking advantage of the opening.

But…

“Krrk!”
“Screee!”

They, too, were torn apart in mere moments, their bodies falling lifelessly to the ground.

The brief skirmish ended in less than a few seconds—a one-sided slaughter.

As she stood amidst the carnage, Isena let out a quiet breath. Though she hadn’t admitted it to anyone, her frustrations about the Rosecutter’s reduced power had been weighing on her. Now, seeing its cutting power firsthand, she felt some relief.

‘Even without a full charge, the Rosecutter is still performing well. At this rate, there shouldn’t be any major issues going forward.’

The monomolecular blade, designed to slice through virtually anything, still made short work of the Abyss despite its limitations.

Feeling slightly reassured, Isena turned back to the hunters following her.

“Stop standing around in a daze. Let’s keep moving. The sooner we finish this job, the sooner we can all go back,” she said firmly.

“Yes, understood,” the hunters replied, moving to follow her orders.

However, there was something Isena didn’t notice—something she overlooked entirely.

The faces of the hunters behind her.

Their expressions were tinged with something deeper than simple nervousness. A quiet, growing anxiety lingered in their eyes.

Choi Han was monitoring the battlefield from the situation room, his eyes glued to the large screens displaying the unfolding mission.

Through the feeds, he could see the hunters advancing steadily, wiping out the Abyss with ease.

From his vantage point, it was almost like watching a strategy simulation game, with troops moving according to plan, and enemies falling one by one.

The S-class hunters leading the charge, however, made Choi Han uneasy. Their combat power was undeniably incredible, but just the sight of them riled him up.

‘So far, there have been three engagements with the Abyss. No casualties on our side… Their skills are undeniable. They do have talent…’

Indeed, the S-class hunters had single-handedly eliminated nearly all the Abyss they had encountered.

However, this had created a problem.

The sheer speed and aggression of their attacks had caused the distance between them and the rest of the guild to grow significantly. While their overwhelming power meant they could hold their own at the front, it wasn’t ideal for a group operation.

‘They’re too far ahead of the others… And if they keep fighting like that, they’re going to provoke more Abyss.’

Then, suddenly, Choi Han’s face stiffened in shock.

“…What the hell?”

Out of nowhere, the radar showed a massive movement of Abyss within the colony.

The creatures, previously lying dormant, had begun pouring out in droves, their numbers overwhelming.

“Damn… I knew they’d stir things up, but this is way too soon.”

Even though the Abyss had the intelligence of beasts, their predatory instincts made them extremely dangerous. Once they sensed a threat, they could swarm like ants at any moment, and this required careful planning and control during any operation.

Unfortunately, it seemed the Abyss had been provoked earlier than expected—likely due to the aggressive behavior of the hunters at the front.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Choi Han immediately relayed a warning to the guild members and issued orders to regroup for defense.

The last month of working here had been one of the worst experiences of his life, but even so, Choi Han didn’t want to show incompetence as a commander.

“All troops form a defensive formation immediately! The Abyss in the colony has begun its offensive! S-class hunters at the front, return to the formation at once!”

Even for S-class hunters, being surrounded by such a massive swarm was dangerous.

Moreover, their firepower was vital to the overall operation. For the team to survive and succeed, their strongest members needed to be properly positioned within the group.

Choi Han urgently issued the command to Isena.

But then…

“Hey, what are you talking about? What about the Abyss?”

Isena’s voice came through the comms, her tone filled with annoyance.

Thinking she hadn’t fully understood the situation, Choi Han repeated his warning.

“The Abyss are swarming! Join the rest of the group immediately…”

“So, what does that mean?”

“…Excuse me?”

Her cold, dismissive response stunned him.

Sensing something was wrong, Choi Han spoke more urgently.

“The Abyss in the colony are heading straight for your location! If you stay where you are, you’ll be surrounded! Move back now!”

“Adjutant, listen. I had high hopes for you since they said you were supposed to be some kind of genius, but it looks like you’re nothing special after all.”

“What?!”

“I’m sorry, but I don’t think you fully understand how good an S-class hunter like me really is. Why don’t you sit back and watch? I’ll show you what real power looks like.”

“What the hell are you talking about?! No! Stop immediately!”

But before Choi Han could finish, Isena had already made her move.

Instead of retreating, she charged headlong into the approaching Abyss.

On the screen, Choi Han could see her figure cutting through the swarm like a blade, her defiance clear for all to see.

“…Are you insane?” he muttered, his face turning pale.

At that moment, one singular thought consumed his mind.

‘Fuck… Is this for real? What kind of mad bitch doesn’t listen to orders in a situation like this?’

Isena, the guild master, had recklessly thrown herself into the enemy horde, completely disregarding her commander’s orders.

Choi Han clenched his fists in frustration.

Even though she was an S-class hunter, her actions were sheer madness in a group battle.

This wasn’t just about her recklessness, it was about the impact on the entire operation.

Without their strongest member supporting the formation, defending against the Abyss until Yujin’s unit arrived would be nearly impossible.

And worse still, Isena’s rampage would only provoke the Abyss further, drawing even more of them toward her.

The massive offensive triggered by her actions would not be confined to her alone.

The rest of the Abyss, agitated by her display of power, would inevitably redirect their fury toward the guild members holding the defensive line in the rear.

Choi Han’s gaze darkened as he realized the full scope of the disaster unfolding before him.

‘This idiot isn’t just risking her own life—she’s putting everyone else in danger, too.’
