I Was a Loner, but My Class Got Summoned to Another World…

Chapter 357: Fishing with Webs

"I guess reading and being out at sea don't mix," Logan muttered as he healed himself again. The rolling waves had gotten to him on their first day aboard, and judging by the pale faces around him, he wasn't the only one. "Anyone else need a cure?"

"Yeah, but I'm starting to get used to it at least. The weather seems to favor us for now…" Lisa replied, already tending to herself with her own magic, her glow faint but steady.

"I do, and at least we finished all the work in one go," Rubina added she got next to Logan so he could heal her as well as handed him the last set of completed forms. "That means the rest of the day is ours."

"Thanks, you two," Logan said placing a hand on Rubina's forehead and silently casting a simple cure skill that Kryst had that encompassed a variety of healing effects. He then placed the papers he was given in his storage ring. "I actually brought treats this time—something the World Tree tribe gave me. It's kind of like sweet jerky, but made from some plant. I don't know what it is, but it's good."

He passed each of them a stick of the dark green snack. The texture was firm, slightly chewy, and pulsed with a faint sweetness.

"Well… it helps with the fatigue at least," Lisa said, eyeing the plant-based jerky. "Tastes better than I expected."

"I agree," Rubina said, already halfway through hers. "So, what now? We just going to laze around until we arrive?"

Lisa raised a brow, already knowing the answer.

"We could…" Logan trailed off, glancing toward the deck and the horizon beyond. "But we both know we won't."

None of them had formal plans for the rest of the day—but for people like them, that only meant it was time to improvise.

"Well, I'll be checking what monsters I can find—have either Sea-King or Thalas fight them," Logan said as he stretched his arms. "I doubt the two of them can gain levels quickly anymore, but I'd like to push them to at least 70 before we arrive. Just to give them a bit of an edge when we leave... it's going to be hard to come back and see them as often as I'd like." He sighed, thinking about all the creatures he'd tamed but hadn't given proper attention to. "I'll make time after this quest. At the very least, I owe them a proper talk before the war starts."

"Yeah, do give them a bit more attention," Lisa agreed, brushing back her hair as she glanced out over the sea. "I know you're busy all the time, but now that you can teleport all over, it'll be important to give each one some time."

"I just hope Silvia's skill keeps improving," Logan added. "If I can make my own waypoints one day, I won't have to rely on her every time. The skill's useful, yeah—but each teleport costs around 100 to 200 mana depending on the distance, and it really wears on the mind."

He tossed the last bite of his treat into his mouth and began walking toward the deck. The two girls followed behind, their conversation continuing with the breeze at their backs.

"Well then," Logan said with a grin, "let's do the first thing on my list—catch us some fish before dark."

Lisa blinked. "Fishing? While we're moving this fast?"

"I don't think pulling out rods and waiting for a bite is going to work," Logan admitted, already channeling mana. "We're going way too fast to fish the normal way. But I can try something else."

Dark strands shimmered to life in his hand—Regal's web magic, precise and nearly invisible.

Logan began weaving a net—so fine it was nearly undetectable, but spread wide enough to catch anything swimming near the ship's path. It was an intricate construct, manipulated with care and set to hold without resistance.

"I think it'd be best to throw the net off the back of the ship—angled to one of the sides, as far as possible," Rubina said, already heading up the stairs and guiding them toward the rear deck. Crew members glanced their way with mild curiosity, but no one interrupted.

"This looks like a good spot," Lisa added, her silver hair whipping in the wind. The sunset cast a warm, orange glow across her features, making her look almost ethereal under the fading light of the first sun.

"Alright, here goes…" Logan muttered as he stepped to the edge and tossed the web outward.

The strands shimmered briefly before becoming invisible with distance, stretching far out across the sea's surface. They waited in silence, counting the seconds.

One minute. Two. Three.

"Nothing…" Logan said, brows furrowing.

"Maybe try tossing it farther out?" Rubina suggested, her arms crossed as she studied the water.

Logan nodded thoughtfully and narrowed his eyes at the sea. Instead of trying again manually, he chose a better route.

[Thalas, help me catch some fish. Lead something into the net.]

The dolphin's response came with a surge of playful sounds. Thalas had been cruising alongside the ship, his movements smooth and relaxed as he rode the waves with ease. Even when tired, he had used his water magic to rest while staying in motion—sometimes hitching a ride by clinging to Sea-King by asking the large squid to hold on to him with one of his tentacles.

The two had grown surprisingly close.

[Understood! I'll guide them in… give me a moment,] Thalas replied, already darting beneath the surface with ease.

Logan smiled faintly. "Let's see if this team-up pays off."

Logan let the original net dissolve—it had been crafted entirely from mana, after all. He quickly reshaped it, this time building a denser structure, then readied his next move.

He raised his hand, summoning Darkness Arrow.

Not just one—two.

With a sharp breath, Logan fired the first arrow to launch the net far out into the ocean, and the second just after, adjusting its trajectory to spread the web even wider. The twin shots arced beautifully into the distance, the mana-imbued net hitching a ride on the darkened wind.

"Let's see if this works better…"

Thalas answered immediately, sending out pulses of bright light across the water like sonar, guiding Logan toward a direction. The dolphin was already chasing something beneath the surface, but at this distance, even Zephyr's enhanced vision skill could only reveal vague outlines. A shimmer here, a ripple there—just enough to follow.

Then Logan felt it.

The net was pulled—a hard tug from the line of mana stretching into the sea—nearly yanking him off his feet.

"Ah, damn. I might need help here… this thing's strong!" he grunted, bracing himself as he placed both feet on the ship's ledge to hold his ground.

[Regal, I'll be needing your strength here!] he called through the link, already regretting not bringing three or four of the soldier ant's he had caught in the world tree and who would be useful in this kind of work.

From her corner, the sleek spider shifted. She had been quietly weaving something with cloaking mist around her body to ward off fearful glances from the crew. But now, she dispelled the fog and approached with silent grace.

[Help me pull this in. Add some of your webs to strengthen mine,] Logan instructed.

[Understood. I will reinforce it!] Regal responded, her tone calm but pleased—glad to be needed.

She reached out and began wrapping her own silken threads around the original construct. Unlike Logan's raw weave, hers danced with precision, alive with practiced flow. The threads twined together as if alive—almost sentient in their response.

Even Logan had to pause in admiration.

"Damn… you have improved your way of weaving."

Together, they began pulling.

Beneath the waves, Thalas contributed with well-aimed jets of water, pressuring the creature caught in the net and tiring it out. It made a desperate surge, but Regal's web held firm.

[Good going, Thalas. Let's see what you've brought for me. You might be earning a crystal or two if you keep this up,] Logan sent with a smirk.

But that praise caught someone else's attention.

A massive tentacle slithered through the water and wrapped firmly around the thrashing creature. Sea-King had joined in—his strength adding another layer of pressure, and his body crackling faintly with controlled electrical jolts.

[Sea-King—don't kill it just yet. Let's see what we caught. It might be useful!] Logan warned quickly.

The creature stopped struggling.

Its fin breached the surface first, slicing through the waves like a silver blade. Then came a sweeping sail behind it—elegant and flowing. A long, spear-like snout followed, sharp and dangerous.

"Looks like a sailfish…" Lisa murmured, watching the creature rise from the sea's grip.

"I think I'll have to tame it than," Logan said, his gaze narrowing. "Rubina, do you know what this is?"

The girl shook her head—but before she could reply, another voice chimed in.

"Oh, that one? It's a young Spearhead," said Earl Rosengard, walking over from the upper deck. "You had a different name for it, but I'm sure it's the same creature. Names vary depending on the region."

Logan nodded. "It looks interesting, but… I don't sense anything special from it. Just a fast, water-blessed predator."

"You're right," the Earl agreed. "It's not a particular powerful magical beast, but it's a prime hunter in its territory. Incredibly fast and agile. It could serve well as a scout or support fighter in aquatic battles."

"Then I'll tame it," Logan said with a small grin. "We'll nurture it slowly as we head to the island. Who knows? Maybe it'll be useful."
