Chapter 12: chapter-12 Two Months of Intense Training and an Unexpected Encounter
Point of View: Leekon
It's been two months since I started training my ki control, and I can say I'm making excellent progress. 'Ki, flowing through every corner of my body, was slowly becoming an extension of my mind.'
I could hardly wait for the day I could shout, "Gate of Babylon: King's Treasure!" and summon hundreds of swords and other weapons made of ki. But, for now, my goal is to create a perfectly straight, well-condensed ki sword—a sword that isn't a bomb... 'I still remember the first time I tested a sword against a rock. The rock was sliced easily, offering no resistance, but soon after, the sword began to ripple, lose its form, shine brighter than ever, and then explode in my hand.'
'This might not wear out my body, but it exhausts my mind and demands an enormous level of focus. It's not like firing a ki blast, which is much simpler.' So simple, in fact, that over the past few months, I've been developing techniques I saw in the anime, like the classic Kamehameha, Galick Gun, Final Flash, and many others. It wasn't that difficult; most were just simple, concentrated ki beams to vaporize or pierce the enemy. 'Simple, but effective.'
This was the kind of thing I'd develop in the morning, but in the afternoon, until dusk, I had other objectives.
I focused on training my body. 'I've been trying to train every part of it to perfection, like a blacksmith forging his masterpiece. I kept hammering and hammering, or, in my case, doing more and more repetitions, even with my body screaming at me to stop.' But something inside me wouldn't let me. 'I was doing my absolute best and pushing beyond it. Pain was law, and laziness a sin; the grind cannot stop.'
At the end of the day, I looked more dead than alive, but it brought a smile to my face because I could slowly feel my power growing. 'I could feel the increase in strength so clearly that I can say my power is around eleven to thirteen thousand. A much greater growth in just over two months. This is a drug and I'm pretty sure I'm addicted already, no longer just to fighting, but to gaining power. Getting stronger is euphoric.'
My only rest day from these trainings was the day I had my classes on how to repair a spaceship—classes I had just finished. And I was waiting for him, my new training partner, whom I met two weeks ago.
"Leekon, you bastard, I'm here for a rematch and this time I'm going to finish you!" Speak of the devil.
Flashback: The First Encounter with Vegeta
Leekon, a few weeks ago:
I was doing my daily run, carrying the heavy backpack I used before. On this run, I sped past a stream that flowed beneath a cliff, atop which sat the king's castle. This was a route I took every day, without exception: I ran from the mountain where I trained to this river, and then repeated until my legs felt like jelly.
I feel a ki signature approaching as I pass by. I look to the side and see a kid descending from the sky towards me. A kid with spiky hair, standard Saiyan armor, and a tail wrapped around his waist. So far, he looked like any other Saiyan kid, but beyond that, there were two distinct "points" in his hair.
'A kid any Dragon Ball fan would recognize.' He was the Prince of all Saiyans, Vegeta.
"What are you doing here?" he asks with a presumptuous, arrogant tone, as if he owned the place—and, well, he does—but deep down, I can sense real curiosity.
I halt my momentum, creating a gust of wind as I stop, then look at him as he lands in front of me.
'Well, no harm in seeing what he wants.'
"Training... don't you know what that is?" I reply with a slight smirk.
"Ugh, of course I do, idiot, do you want to die?" he says with a frown. He looks me up and down, and I can see he's planning something.
"Real warriors train in combat, they improve through blood. How do you not know that?" he says, then continues: "Well, a worm clearly wouldn't know."
Then he smiles back at me: "Well, since you say this is training, let's see if it's paying off." He then lunges forward to deliver a kick to my face.
Before his foot lands, I dodge, tilting my head slightly back, and his foot passes just inches from my nose.
'From what I can estimate from his ki signature, I'm already twice as strong as him. Doesn't hurt to hold back a bit to make it fun.'
"Oh, good reflexes," he says with a smile, which I return. Then I say, "If you've come to give me a gift like that, I accept with pleasure."
I rush forward with a punch aimed at his abdomen, caring about nothing else but this combat, not thinking about what his father might do if he knew I'd crushed his son—after all, it had been so long since I'd fought, and this unexpected encounter had me really excited.
'And I don't even know if there's much he can do. I'm already pretty sure I'm stronger than him.'
He defends with his elbow and tries a punch with his other arm, which actually connects with my face, sending me flying to crash into the river.
"Is that all you've got?" Vegeta says as he walks to the riverbank, his smile taking on a smug tone.
Soaked, I slowly fly out of the river. "Not by a long shot," I reply, holding the heavy backpack I was wearing until now in my right hand. "HEY, CATCH THIS!" Then, I throw it towards him.
Which, surprisingly, he actually tries to catch, causing him to almost stumble forward.
While he's distracted, I lunge with a two-footed kick to his head, coming from top to bottom.
Making him drag across the ground until he hits the hard mountain rock on his back, and I don't give him a break. I immediately fly up to him, but then I see him with a furious grimace raise his right hand and fire several ki blasts while shouting: "DIE, WORM! HAAA HAAA!"
Unfortunately for him, this does nothing to stop my advance, as I continue moving towards him while dodging the spheres. Getting close enough, I delivered a punch to his face, but, unfortunately, he dodged, throwing himself to the side.
Then, the punch hit the mountain, creating a crater in the rock. Vegeta, having dodged, retaliated with an uppercut, hitting my chin.
Or so he imagined. I smile at him as I grab his fist. "That's it, keep it up."
"I'm going to break all your bones," he replies with the same energy, but more irritated. "Not if I break you first."
Then, we both rush towards each other, ready to strike.
He lunges at me, taking a direct hit to the abdomen. He ignores the pain and lands another punch on me, which I return in kind. 'So that's how it is: trading blows to land a hit? I'm in.'
We continue like this for a good while, a brutal exchange between two children. He's already very tired, I'm fine—a little bruised, yes, but nothing a night's sleep won't fix. But he'll need at least a few hours in the recovery chamber.
"Huh... huh... C-come on, damn it, I'll kill you even if I die trying." He says, panting and with a bloody face.
"Haha, well, I guess that's enough for today, and anyway, I won. You already know the training was worth it, right?"
"YOU DIDN'T WIN ANYTHING! COME ON, COWARD!"
I look at him, then raise my hand, which starts with a faint glow until it becomes a massive ki sphere, ready to fire and create a crater in his body. 'If that hit, he'd be worse than Toji.'
"Do you have the energy to dodge or even defend against that?" I say with a smug smile.
He looks at me with wide eyes and clenched teeth, almost growling at me, but doesn't reply, because, even enraged, he knows he would die.
"Well, my name is Leekon, I had a lot of fun in this fight."
"If you want a rematch, just find me heading in the direction I came from while running." I say as I slowly start to gain altitude.
"So, what's your name?"
He still doesn't reply and continues staring at me with hatred. I keep waiting for a few seconds, but nothing comes out of his mouth.
"Since you won't answer, then goodbye." I ascend into the air, gaining altitude, but before I went too far, I hear a shout in the distance: "IT'S VEGETA AND I'M GOING TO DESTROY YOU NEXT TIME!"
Smiling, I head to Gine's house. 'That fight really worked up my appetite.'
