I Want to Die, But I Am Immortal

Chapter 130: Ghost (2)

That is why he could not see any action or reaction in the neighboring houses. But then Adam saw something. Something that caught his attention.

Adam saw that a young lady had turned in the same direction. The direction of Sophia's school. She was right behind Sophia. Adam was very surprised to see this.

When Sophia came out from the street next to her house that woman had also come out from the same street. Adam took a deep breath. He thought if I do not follow Sophia now anything can happen. I am ready to take the risk.

Saying this Adam suddenly came out from behind the dustbin. He walked forward very fast. He prepared himself. He prepared for a bullet to hit his head now. But Adam was very surprised when he saw that no bullet hit his body. Adam was still not sure which of the two possibilities was correct. But still Adam started following Sophia.

A short distance away Adam saw that Sophia was walking in her school dress. And behind her that lady was still following Sophia. However Sophia did not know about this. When Adam started following that lady he saw that Sophia had stopped outside the school gate. That lady went ahead of Sophia. She turned into another street ahead.

Adam was very surprised to see this. He was still hiding and watching Sophia and the girl. Adam thought that maybe he had made a mistake. Adam thought that he should go to Sophia now. His theory was correct. There was no assassin present at Sophia's house.

Thinking this Adam let out a deep breath. He was very worried about Sophia. He came out into the open. After walking a little he stood in front of Sophia. He smiled and raised his hand.

Sophia was happy to see Adam. But the moment Adam opened his mouth the entire world started spinning. He glanced at Sophia's face.

There was fear worry and grief written all over it. Both of her hands flew to her lips. It was as if she had just witnessed something horrific.

Suddenly Adam collapsed to the ground. He realized he had been shot in the head again. His thoughts would not form. Everything went black.

The system window appeared in front of him once more. He found himself back on the rooftop of the elevator. This time he sat on the lift's roof. He covered his mouth with a hand and muttered to himself.

"I was wrong. They're watching Sophia too. I'm getting no time to sleep. No time to react."

It shocked him to realize they were even waiting for him at school. He had believed no one would target him there. But that was just another illusion. He remembered the girl who was tailing Sophia. He suddenly understood. She must be part of the Ghost Group.

There was no way it was a coincidence.

Adam dropped down from the lift. He ran straight toward Sophia's apartment. Just like last time the policeman outside pretended not to see him. Adam reached the area again. It was completely quiet. Determined to find a clue this time he avoided the front. He slipped into the adjacent lane.

He knew the lane next to Sophia's place was a dead end. So he cut through backyards. He hopped a garden wall. Then he snuck past two or three houses. He did this until he reached another narrow alley not far from Sophia's home. Instead of going to her door Adam headed into a small side lane. There was a construction site there.

As soon as he reached it he saw the same woman. The one who had been following Sophia. She was talking to another man just outside the site. Adam sprinted at them. He was so fast they did not even get a chance to react. He was suddenly right beside them. He kicked the man in the face. The one who was talking to the woman. The man flew backward and smashed onto the ground.

The woman was shocked. Her hands were clamped over her mouth. She was about to scream. Adam lunged. He grabbed her by the throat. She burst into tears. She choked out "Please let me go! I have a family!"

Furious Adam dragged her toward the garden fence. He growled "Where is your handler?" The woman was terrified. She was in pain. She stammered "I don't know!"

Adam tightened his grip on her neck. Just then the man Adam kicked staggered up. He grabbed Adam's arm. He tried to pull it away. But he was far too weak to budge him. Seeing the man's condition and how feeble the effort was Adam released the woman at once. She dropped to the ground. She was gasping for air.

The man rushed to her side. "Sonam are you okay?" he asked. Sonam could barely breathe. Tears streamed from her eyes.

The man looked up at Adam. He was terrified. "Sir… please let us go."

Adam decided to let them go because he understood one thing: these people were not who he was looking for. He accidentally mistook them for someone else, and he realized this after examining them closely.

Watching their physical condition and the way they were acting Adam understood. These two were not Ghost Group members. They must have just been here by accident.
